Banjo-Tooie, like its predecessor, is divided up into several different zones. The game starts in one zone, Spiral Mountain, and from there the player searches for the keys necessary to unlock the other zones. Each zone has a boss and various items to gather. After acquiring the all of the necessary items and gear, the player can take on Grunty in her fortress.
