The Shrine is where the Kid can activate and deactivate Idols. Blue lights indicate activation.

Idols are items that provide additional challenges in both story stages and Dreams. In the case of the latter, you must use all ten idols for each Dream in order to obtain certain achievements and trophies. Idols can be activated and deactivated in the Shrine after it has been built at the Bastion, and additional idols can be acquired by purchasing them in the Lost and Found and by upgrading the Shrine with a Shard. Though they provide a notable challenge, they can also benefit the Kid by providing him with extra experience and Fragments, as well as a score boost in Score Attack Mode.

Below is a list of all Idols and the effects that they have in battle. Decide which Idols to activate wisely, and for a less painful experience, consider foregoing them completely until they become absolutely necessary. For Score Attack Mode, it is recommended that you tackle the Dreams with the Idols pictured to the left, as these should allow you to easily reach a combined score of 1,000,000. However, if you have been able to grind so that the Kid's level is high enough and his weapons are maxed, you may want to activate more Idols in order to ensure that score is reached for the achievement/trophy.

Idol Patron God Description Details
Bastion idol Hense.png Hense, Goddess of Pain and Pleasure Foes shall strike with greater ferocity. They say the Veiled Widow is smiling beneath Her robes, Her body all scratches and scars. The ferocity mentioned in the Idol's description comes in the form of stronger attacks.
Bastion idol Acobi.png Acobi, Goddess of Oath and Abandon Foes shall have vengeance in the throes of defeat. No one bound the Chastened Maid save for Herself. Her shackles are Her own design. The vengeance mentioned in the description alludes to a grenade dropped by enemies after they have been defeated. Have the Kid dodge away from enemies quickly after he has defeated them to avoid this.
Bastion idol Lemaign.png Lemaign, God of Hope and Despair Foes shall induce sloth with each strike. Before each battle, soldiers prayed that the Mason King grant them high morale. The sloth effect slows the Kid down for a short time, making it difficult to escape subsequent attacks. Try to counter-block to give the Kid an opening to escape in such a scenario.
Bastion idol Pyth.png Pyth, God of Commotion and Order Foes shall grow quicker to move and to strike. The Wakeful Bull, patient yet temperamental, adorns the City's walls with His likeness. This Idol simply makes enemies move quicker. This is one of the less dangerous Idols to activate, as the Kid is generally quicker than his enemies to begin with.
Bastion idol Jevel.png Jevel, God of Health and Atrophy Foes shall gain resilience to physical harm. Half the Tower Keeper's face is that of a youth in His prime, and the other, an old man. This Idol increases the damage resistance of enemies. Upgrade the Kid's weapons so that they themselves are stronger before activating this Idol. Avoid it in Score Attack Mode, as your goal there is to defeat enemies quickly in order to maintain a combo.
Bastion idol Yudrig.png Yudrig, God of Impulse and Bravery Foes shall cause harm on physical contact. The Morning Stallion affects the wishes of all people upon the break of each new day. When using this Idol, try to avoid using melee weapons unless they have a long reach like the Brusher's Pike, as close combat with this Idol can cause the Kid to lose a decent amount of damage without even taking a hit.
Bastion idol Roathus.png Roathus, God of Thirst and Plenty Foes shall never yield Health Tonics or Black Tonics. The Gorging Host grows ever larger yet remains insatiable, His eyes awash in tears. In the case of Dreams, the Tonics that usually drop after each wave will no longer appear. Consider activating this Idol only if your stock of Tonics is sufficient, and if the Leechade Spirit is equipped to ensure that the Kid can still restore his health in some way.
Bastion idol Micia.png Micia, Goddess of Loss and Longing Foes shall regenerate from any injury. The Lorn Mother gave away Her heart, and bears the Star of Caelondia in its stead. This is arguably the trickiest Idol to have activated, as enemies will slowly regenerate health if the Kid doesn't continue attacking them. Make sure to have weapons with high damage output equipped so that the Kid can still defeat his most dangerous enemies, even if it's by slowly chipping away at them.
Bastion idol Olak.png Olak, God of Chance and Whim Foes shall sometimes turn to air, unable to be hit. Alive forever in a single moment, the Carefree Son plays beyond the reach of time. This Idol simply makes enemies invisible for a short period, and only becomes tricky when paired with Micia. Regardless, it should be avoided in Score Attack Mode, as it may prolong the defeat of some enemies.
Bastion idol Garmuth.png Garmuth, God of Purpose and Folly Foes shall deflect attacks on a whim. Despite His lack of senses, the Crippled Duke gives council to the humble and the wise. This Idol simply allows enemies to block attacks occasionally. It shouldn't prove to be too much of an issue as long as the Kid attacks continuously.
