Trevor Belmont & co. have crossed the bridge and entered Dracula's stronghold. They begin their assault in the castle courtyard.

You'll see a skeleton knight below you along with three candles. The skeleton should be easy to dispatch if you have a sub-weapon that can hit from above, though you can also kneel down on the step and attack it with Trevor's whip. The second candle contains Ice magic for Sypha and Holy Water for Trevor.
You'll then encounter a moving platform. Make sure not to jump too early or you'll miss the platform entirely. The next solid platform also has a "Ball of Destruction" rotating around it. If you grabbed Sypha's Ice Magic you can freeze and destroy the ball. Otherwise, jump over it while waiting for the platform to descend. Make sure not to let the platform get too low before you jump on it, because there are three more platforms after it, all moving downward.
Once you reach solid ground again, you'll encounter a hunchback and a bone pillar. Vanquish these enemies and go to the right. Before ascending the staircase, attack the wall to find a roman numeral upgrade for Trevor. If you are using Sypha or have fully upgraded Trevor's sub-weapon, the bricks will contain a large heart instead.
Ascend the staircase to find a candle with a large heart and another bone pillar. Climb the staircase to the left of the bone pillar to access the next room.
