The Nintendo 3DS is a handheld console developed by Nintendo, released in March 2011. Its main feature is its ability to produce stereoscopic 3D effects without the need for any special glasses. It succeeds the Nintendo DS series of handhelds. It features backward compatibility with almost all the Nintendo DS's catalogue of games, including DSiWare and other DSi-specific software. The Nintendo 3DS was officially unveiled on June 15, 2010 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
