Probably the hardest level in the game. It's a side scrolling level, where you have to climb the castle facade using moving platforms, disappearing ladders, and even some vultures. You'll also need to avoid spikes and hands trying to grab you, as well as defeating scientists who throw explosive vials at you. Timing is essential to pass this level. What makes this level so difficult to pass is the lack of C boxes: there is in fact only one, exactly in the middle.
There is a Nitrus Brio bonus round in this level, where you can gain some extra lives and save your game, but very hard to complete. The three tokens are found in the following positions:
- The first token is in a box in a recess about halfway in the first part of the path (the one from right to left).
- The second token is in a box in a recess about halfway in the third part of the way (from left to right).
- The third token is just ahead, under an Aku Aku box.
One curiosity: this level looks one of a kind, but in the original version of the game, it also had a more difficult twin: Stormy Ascent. It was the last level before the final fight and was canceled due to its excessive difficulty. It was then reintroduced in the N Sane Trilogy.
Getting the gem[edit]
Finding and breaking all the boxes isn't a problem, but getting through this level without losing any lives is really tough. If you succeed though, you will be rewarded with the red gem.
