Search and Destroy is the third and final mission in the Lord Roberts Island chapter.

Introduction[edit]

Multiple C-130 Hercules transports are lined up to evacuate civilians from the island, and the base has called for help from the aircraft carrier Nemesis. Hold out until the civilians are safe and help has arrived.

You will once again be using the Heatseeker/Planes#T-45 Goshawk T-45 with the Ground Attack weapon pack. Once the mission starts, accelerate to take off from the airstrip; Divot, the pilot you rescued in the first mission, will be waiting for you in the air.

Give Your Wingman an Order[edit]

Once you're airborne, Divot will form up behind you as your wingman. As Picasso states during the opening cutscene, the enemy is sending fighters to attack a freighter coming in from the south and a Nanuchka to attack the power station to the north. Lock onto either the freighter or the missile boat, and give Divot the order to move out. If targeting the freighter, Divot will protect the freighter and intercept attacking enemies; if targeting the Nanuchka, Divot will attack it. You will then be tasked with heading to the other objective; both will have to be taken care of, this will simply determine the order in which you are assigned them.

Destroy the Pirates Attacking the Freighter[edit]

A number of Yak-141s will be attacking the freighter. Fly out to the ship and shoot them down.

Sink the Missile Ship that is Attacking the Power Stations[edit]

The Nanuchka will be in front of you when you first take off, and can deal noticeable but slow damage to the power station. Destroy it quickly using bombs.

Once both objectives are dealt with, the enemy will make their next move.

Destroy the Helicopter Squadron[edit]

Your next enemy is a squadron of KA-52 Alligator attack helicopters. Given that you're in a jet and these are helicopters, they should go down in very short order.

You will at this point be prompted to recall Divot to your wing. As the game states, while on your wing, Divot will prioritize enemies attacking you directly.

  • Bonus Objective: Sink the southern rebel recon vessel - The recon vessel is a speedboat at the south end of the island. The helicopters are basically harmless so do this bonus objective at your leisure.

Protect the Airport Whilst the Civilians Evacuate[edit]

Three C-130 transports are lined up at the airfield, and are under attack by speedboats. When the objective goes live, one group of boats in front of you will be in firing range, so immediately attack and sink them with your bombs. Then, continue sinking boat groups with bombs, while using SRAMs to pick off stragglers. This section ends when either all boats are sunk or all planes have taken off; at least one transport plane must survive.

  • Bonus Objective: Sink the northern rebel recon vessel - The speedboat will be near the northern power station you defended earlier.
  • Bonus Objective: Sink the south-western rebel recon vessel - The speedboat is at the southwest of the island near a set of docks.

Both bonus objectives remain live for the rest of the mission, so prioritize the main objective.

Help the Nemesis Destroy the Last Remaining Pirate Forces[edit]

At this point, the Nemesis arrives to provide reinforcements, and the last remaining enemy forces will attack. The enemies consist of the same enemies you've been fighting so far - one group of speedboats, two groups of KA-52s, and a number of Yak-141s. Use bombs to sink the boats, and SRAMs and guns to take care of the rest.

Land on the Nemesis Carrier[edit]

Picasso will inform you that the airstrip is no longer safe to land on, so you are officially assigned to the Nemesis taskforce along with Divot and will be landing on the carrier instead.

To land, follow the blue dotted circles drawn for you in the air, slow down to minimum speed, and fly level with the sea. Once you're at the carrier, your plane's landing gear will extend automatically (noticeable by your plane's orientation shifting slightly and a sound effect playing) and you will safely land once your plane touches down on deck.

If you haven't done the bonus objectives yet, feel free to do them before touching down.
