The first Boss battle of the game is on the horizon. Suit up with your preferred ability to take on your opponent: Whispy Woods.

As you enter the stage, descend the thin platforms and ladders. Copy essences aill be provided for the Cutter, Fire, and Beam Copy Abilities. Make your way to the bottom and head right. The tree in front of you will shake and gain a face, revealing itself as Whispy Woods.

Whispy Woods attacks primarily by dropping apples or foes from his leaves. Once half of his health is depleted, his second phase will begin. He will attempt to inhale you and puff out hazardous clouds. The inhale portion should be avoided by running or staying at the top of the screen. As such, all strategies should be centered around avoiding projectiles and staying out of his inhale's range.

  • Of the presented abilities, Beam in particular makes this battle a cakewalk. Simply use Revolution Beam in the top right corner throughout the entire fight. Alternatively, use your own projectiles to fire back.
  • If you pick Fire, you can have fun with its wall climbing abilities. Your main method of dealing damage should be either Fire Breath chained into Fireball Inferno, or Burn in midair repeatedly. Be cautious during the inhale portions.
  • With Cutter, you may use the melee approach of using Final Cutter for big damage, or activate projectiles and maneuver around them so they hit the tree.
  • If you brought in Leaf from a previous stage, use Leaf Uppercut as your most powerful close-ranged attack, or Leaf Attack for a ranged option. Mind that your Leaf Guard will still be dragged by Whispy's inhale.
  • If you decide to bring in Spark, you may slowly chip at Whispy's health by hovering in the top right corner with a Spark Barrier, or fire Spark Waves from a distance.
  • Sword and Ninja both have an explot that allows you to direct midair down attacks away from Whispy in the top right corner while still dealing damage and bouncing back tonthe tree.
  • If you have myltiplayer options, you can have Meta Knight flap in the top right corner for a safe way to deal damage (or simply use Wing), as well as have Bandana Waddle Dee use his Waddle Copter, which would need to be recharged every once in a while. All of Kirby's allies have projectiles under specific circumstances, as well as decent melee attacks.
  • Finally, if you have no ability, inhale the apples Whispy drops and spit them back at him.

When you defeat Whispy Woods, the Oars of the Lor Starcutter will appear. Collect them to end the stage and unlock the next level and the Lor's features.
