Like in X5, X starts with a set of armor already available (in this case, the Falcon Armor), along with two separate armor sets that can be obtained by finding Dr. Light capsules, and a third that can be enabled via a cheat code. Each armor grants access to a Giga Attack that is charged up by either taking damage or collecting weapon energy. Like in X5, the armor sets can't be used unless all the pieces are collected.

Armor Sets[edit]

Falcon Armor[edit]

The Falcon Armor functions similarly to its counterpart in X5, with some downgrades due to being damaged.

  • The Leg Part allows X to dash mid-air and damage enemies in the process, but no longer grants flight as in X5.
  • The Body Part halves damage taken and grants access to a Giga Attack, which damages all enemies on-screen.
  • The Arm Part allows special weapons to be charged as well as grants a more narrow and powerful charged buster shot, though the shot no longer goes through walls or enemies.
  • The Head Part makes special weapons cost less ammo to use.

Blade Armor[edit]

The Blade Armor is the first armor unique to X6. It specializes in mobility and use of the X-Buster.

  • The Leg Part allows X to do a Mach Dash, a chargeable air dash that make X temporarily invincible, goes further than a regular dash, and can go in any direction (up, down, left, or right).
  • The Body Part halves the damage X takes, and gives access to a Giga Attack. This attack is a large energy wave fired from the Z-Saber.
  • The Arm Part grants access to the Plasma Shot (which, when fired, leaves behind a ball that can damage enemies). It also grants access to the Charged Saber (accessed by holding Up when releasing a charge shot).
  • The Head Part makes special weapons consume less ammo.

Shadow Armor[edit]

The Shadow Armor is the second armor unique to X6. It sacrifices some mobility options for immunity to spikes, making it useful for collecting hard-to-reach items.

  • The Leg Part allows X to stick to walls and walk on spikes. Also allows X to stick to ceilings by pressing Up while jumping.
  • The Body Part halves the damage X takes, and gives access to a Giga Attack. This attack creates rings that fly around you and can hit enemies multiple times.
  • The Arm Part replaces the X-buster's normal shot with a shuriken (which go in random directions) and the charge shot with a more powerful saber slash that deals massive damage to enemies. Also disables the use of special weapons.
  • The Head Part allows X to swing the Z-Saber faster than the other armors.

Ultimate Armor[edit]

The Ultimate Armor is X's most powerful option and can only be accessed when using a cheat code. Unlike in X5, when the code is entered, X will still have access to the Falcon Armor.

  • The Leg Part allows X to dash mid-air and hover by pressing jump while in the air.
  • The Body Part halves the damage X takes, and gives access to the powerful Nova Strike, a Giga Attack where X flies forward and does massive damage. Unlike the other Giga Attacks, the Nova Strike has unlimited uses.
  • The Arm Part allows special weapons to be charged and grants access to the Plasma Shot (which, when fired, leaves behind a ball that can damage enemies).
  • The Head Part makes special weapons consume less ammo.

Armor Part Locations[edit]

Blade Armor Part Locations[edit]

  • Leg Upgrade: Found in Commander Yammark's stage. After falling into the first underground area, you'll see an opening on the right behind a mantis robot. The capsule is in a cave behind the mantis.
  • Body Upgrade: Found in Shield Sheldon's stage. When in the area with the lasers and mirrors, use them to open a door leading down. Follow the path to the left and you'll fall down into an area with spikes on the floor. Jump through the fake wall on the left and jump to the far platform to reach the capsule.
    • Requires Falcon Armor or Zero (Speedster or Hyper Dash recommended).
  • Arm Upgrade: Found in Inifinty Mijinion's stage. After defeating Illumina, jump into the portal to the hidden area with the secret boss. The capsule will be on your left.
  • Head Upgrade: Found in Ground Scaravich's stage. One of the Totem Gates has a random chance to be the room containing the capsule. You'll recognize it immediately, as it's on a platform right above where you spawn in.

Shadow Armor Part Locations[edit]

  • Leg Upgrade: Found in Blizzard Wolfang's stage. When you come to a downward slope with several balls of ice rolling to the right, you'll see a platform with the capsule in the upper-right corner.
    • Requires Blade Armor or Zero.
  • Body Upgrade: Found in Rainy Turtloid's stage. In the final area before the boss (with multiple playforms and ziplines), you'll see a tunnel with spikes in the upper right corner. Jump up and, right before hitting the ground, Mach Dash into the tunnel (if you think your timing is off, Mach Dash upwards instead). Do this one more time and the capsule is yours. This will likely take a few tries, so try to stock up on lives beforehand.
    • Requires Blade Armor.
  • Arm Upgrade: Found in Blaze Heatnix's stage. After the second miniboss, you'll come to a room with two boss doors. Above the top one is a series of platforms (that require some tight jumps to reach) containing several reploids, a heart tank, and a capsule. If the Silver Block nightmare effect is present, the path will be blocked off.
    • Requires Blade Armor (with Hyper Dash or Speedster) or Zero (Jumper recommended) If the Silver Block nightmare is not present and if you have the ultimate armor, you can get to this section using the Nova Strike (Although it is difficult, you can get it) .
  • Head Upgrade: Found in Metal Shark Player's stage. After getting past the second crusher, you'll find a ladder leading down. Instead, keep going left and you'll find another crusher. Dash through it as quickly as you can (the window is very tight) and you'll drop into a new area. Jump and Mach Dash across to reach the capsule.
    • Requires Blade Armor and Ice Burst. If you don't have Ice Burst, you can also use the Speedster or Hyper Dash chips (if using the cheat code, the Ultimate Armor can get it as well).

Ultimate Armor Unlock Code[edit]
