Mirai Senshi: Lios (未来戦史ライオス? lit. Far future military history: Lios) is a strategy mech game developed and published by Pack-In-Video, and released exclusively in Japan for the Famicom in 1989. It combines medieval trappings, such as kings and castles, with futuristic technology like its central mechs.

It features turn-based combat between armies comprised of mechs and more traditional modern military ordnance, like tanks. The player is able to customize their own mech quite substantially, kitting it out with new equipment and appendages before each sortie, though is unable to do so for their allied units. Allied units can either be controlled directly or can be given commands that dictate their AI: "all-out assault", for instance, will have the unit move into combat range as quickly as possible. Units can also be told to take cover or move around to a flanking position. The commander unit, which is also the player's mech, is always controlled directly.

The game did not see an official English localization in its day, but a fan translation released in 2000 by the Aeon Genesis group can be found here.

Story[edit]

The eighth planet of the Ditherbus solar system is Lios. This planet has six kingdoms on a single continent floating in the sea, and military robots with a maximum height of about 15 meters called Battle Armors have been put into practical use.

Around 59077 in the planetary calendar, the king of the evil kingdom Goinkia plotted to conquer all of Lios and mass-produced battle armor. With his fighting power, he took possession of four countries other than the Kingdom of Cecilia.

However, when the Kingdom of Goinkia tried to invade the Kingdom of Cecilia, Yuppie, the prince of the Kingdom of Cecilia, decided to fight by himself, saying, "I will forgive those who disturb the peace."

And in planetary year 59086, 22 Battle Armors flew from the Kingdom of Cecilia to bring peace to Lios.
