Ninja Gaiden is a linear side-scrolling beat'em up. There are six stages or "Acts" that much be completed to beat the game. Each Act must be completed, in order. There are no warps or stage selects. Each Act ends with a boss battle. The bosses and any remaining enemies must be defeated in order to advance to the next stage. You begin the game with Act I.
