In Card Fighters Clash, you begin the game in Osaka with a very basic deck of 50. To complete the game, you must:

  • Challenge other Card Fighters,
  • Win battles against them to earn new and better cards,
  • Earn more cards through other activities, and
  • Modify your deck to make it stronger so you can battle better enemies for better cards.

Normal battles provide each player with 2000 total hit points. However, each location in Osaka contains a coin-holding boss. Battles against these bosses, as well as other high value opponents, provide each player with 3000 total hit points. Battles with 2000 hit points typically reward you with three cards for a successful battle, while battles with 3000 hit points reward you with five cards for a victory.

Ultimately, you must defeat five coin holders in order to gain access to a semi-finals competition in Tokyo. If you win the semi-finals, you will be granted access to the airport in Tokyo, which will send you flying to the finals in Las Vegas. If you successfully win the competition in Las Vegas, you will have completed the game, but only then do some of the rarest cards become available. At that point, the only thing left to accomplish is to find and collect all 300 distinct cards in the game.

Starting out[edit]

You begin your adventure by picking one of two available avatars, depending on which version of the game you are playing, and giving them a name. Then you either start out in The Lost World (Capcom version) or Joy Joy (SNK version) where the basic rules are explained to you. You are also provided a very basic deck to start. Your deck will only be composed of cards which pertain to the version of the game you are playing, i.e. you only get Capcom cards in the Capcom version, and SNK cards in the SNK version.

You will be invited to challenge your rival who engages you in a short battle that is meant to teach you how to play, and which you are intended to win. Once that battle is complete, you are on your own to explore the world. When you attempt to leave the first location, the character of the other avatar which you didn't select will explain that your first goal is to collect the five coins from the bosses of the stores in Osaka. Initially, only those five locations in Osaka are available to explore.

Osaka[edit]

Osaka is where you will start your Card Fighter journey. There are five locations where you can play against regular competitors. In addition, each location has a boss competitor that must fight against and win at least once to earn one of the five special coins needed to reach Tokyo. You may challenge any competitor any time you like in any order.

Tokyo[edit]

Once you have collected all five Card Fighters Clash coins from each of the bosses at the five locations in Osaka, you will gain access to Tokyo. Tokyo only contains two destinations. The CFC Semi-Finals are held in NeoGeo World. Once you successfully complete the semi-finals, the second destination becomes available: the Airport. It only serves as a means to fly to the location of the final competition of the game, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
