Section 8 is a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rather than respawning at pre-determined spots on the map, players choose their own spots and then "burn in", falling from dropships 15,000 feet above the battlefield. Players can either drop straight to the ground or use "air brakes" to slow their descent and steer towards a desired spot. Rather than vehicles being pre-placed on the map, players purchase them with "Requisition Points" earned during play.

The campaign mode centers around Alex Corde, a member of the elite infantry Section 8, and Section 8's foes, the ARM of Orion.
