Shikoku Landing Battle (四国上陸戦) is the name given to the battle that takes place in the territory of the pirate Motochika Chosokabe. Like his rival Motonari Mori, Motochika Chosokabe's territory is located along the shore. Motochika is also a non-playable general whose attribute is fire, and like Motonari, this may make him unpredictable; however, he only has a couple of attacks to resort to, so the real challenge on his map stems from his formidable machinery. Unlike Motonari, who views his soldiers as mere pawns, Motochika cares greatly for his soldiers, who themselves refer to him as their "aniki" (big brother); therefore, their defeat greatly angers him.

Strategy[edit]

Before proceeding to the squad leaders, turn toward the southern corner of the map, where you can find some shallow water and a hidden tamatebako. Proceeding to the first squad leader, defeat him for another tamatebako. You will have to navigate around some fences for the rest of this portion of the stage in order to reach the artillery chief, who should by this point have begun firing bombs all across the area. The stage's map should assist you in finding the gaps in the fences, small as they may be, usually found in trenches.

After proceeding past the gap in the first fence to the right of the map, turn left to find the next gap. Past this second fence, you should also find two squad leaders; the one to the right drops Basara, and the one to the left drops a tamatebako. A smaller fence which can be bypassed on either side blocks the path to a squad leader on the far left who drops a lucky cat, and one to the right who drops another tamatebako.

Find a gap in the third fence to the left, and head all the way to the right of the map from here to find an enclosed area hiding a tamatebako. In the center of the path leading to the second half of the map is a squad leader that drops another tamatebako. Zig-zag around some more fences in the map to find another squad leader who drops a tamatebako in the center. The ones to the left and right only drop health and Basara.

Toward the artillery chief's station, a pair of squad leaders stands guard; one drops both health and Basara, and the other drops a tamatebako. In a path that protrudes out of the map to the left is a tamatebako hidden inside a crate, as well as a squad leader that drops a tamatebako. The squad leaders that stand around the artillery chief's station only drop a lucky cat and health, so defeat them only if you deem it necessary before climbing the stairs to the top of the hill where the artillery chief is firing away, represented by a yellow dot on the map. Defeat him to finally cease the bombing (though if you are going for less than 100 KOs, his defeat isn't necessary).

The final squad leader standing guard before the boss arena drops another tamatebako. Proceed to face an impressive machine that you must defeat before Motochika shows himself.

Boss: Motochika Chosokabe[edit]

Motochika dodges often; catch him in combos to trap him.

Attack the legs of the machine, using Basara attacks if you desire, to deplete its health. It occasionally fires arrows and drops a massive axe that swings back and forth, which you can dodge before continuing your offense. After it falls, it drops health and Basara, which should restore any of either used in order to defeat it.

Motochika should not be underestimated, as his fiery anchor has a decent reach and he will very frequently block or dodge your attacks. If you lack long range attacks, use your Basara attack after you've caught him in a combo; if you use it when he is simply in reach, he will most likely simply dodge away until the Basara attack has ended. Be wary of the shooters that surround the area; either attack them before they can become an issue or trap Motochika against the wall, so that the camera is facing away from them. Defeat Motochika to claim his territory.
