Map of the Sith base on Manaan

Mission for the Republic[edit]

You can complete the mission for the Republic simply by exploring the southwest section of the base closest to the entrances, without encountering any Force users or, if you enter from Ahto East, any mines.

Secondary Entrance[edit]

After taking the transport from the private Sith docking bay , there's a sealed door behind you to the north:

[This door has been permanently sealed.]

The room beyond the door at the end of a short corridor to the south is mined:

Awareness Average Frag Mine Detect 30 (10) Demolitions Disable 25 (5) Recover 35 (15)

Beyond the door in the east wall is a corridor curving north to a door labelled Flow Control Room; beyond that in the west wall is a short corridor leading to a door to a security checkpoint.

Security Checkpoint[edit]

The elevator to Ahto City in the south wall leads down from Ahto East, with doors in the north and east walls. A Sith security officer stands behind a console in the middle of the room, facing the elevator. Even if you try to sneak past her, she challenges you:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Security Officer: You authorized this person to enter? I don't know them... and their identification doesn't match up! They're spies!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Diplomat: What?! Sound the alarm! Droids, destroy them!

The Sith diplomat Commander Grann and four war droids came down in the elevator: if you did likewise, you're moved behind the console to the north, nearest to the Sith security officer:

The most direct route to complete your mission for the Republic is through the north door; beyond the east door is the secondary entrance to the base via the transport from the Sith private docking bay, and the flow control room further to the northeast.

Droid Repair[edit]

Beyond the north door of the security checkpoint is a corridor with a door in its west wall, beyond which is the south end of another corridor leading north but curving to the west, ending in a door (beyond which is the west lounge and the north computer room). Before this door is one labelled Disassembly Room in the south wall, beyond which is a short corridor ending in a door to the south, with a faulty war droid standing to the left:

The droid will open the south door then patrol back and forth along the corridor, but it is too fragile to serve as more than a temporary distraction for what lies beyond: a Sith heavy trooper patrols back and forth just inside, while a Sith elite trooper stands on the south side of the room and a Sith grenadier stands in the southeast corner. A broken droid is by the west wall, flanked on either side by a Sith war droid identical to the War Droid Mark IV of the security checkpoint.

The only exit to the base is the elevator to Ahto City to the southeast, but you may want to explore the rest of the base first, particularly if you're looking for missing Selkath...

Missing Selkath[edit]

If you've been approached by the Selkath Shaelas in the mercenary enclave of Ahto West about missing Selkath, you'll need to gain access to the north section of the base, either by going to the north computer room to the northwest to lower the forcefield in the security room, or going through the pressure doors in the flow control room to the east. If you haven't been approached by Shaelas, the door to the training annex will be locked.

North Computer Room[edit]

The room beyond the door at the west end of the corridor accessing the disassembly room contains two assault droids, both of which are resistant to energy damage:

Beyond the door labelled North Computer Room in the north wall is a long corridor with seven steam vents in the floor, each of which inflicts 25 universal damage on Normal when venting. Enter solo mode and cross each vent when it isn't steaming (when the vent behind starts, the one in front has stopped) until the door at the north end is reached, then use the steam control inside on the south wall to the right:

[Steam vents have been deactivated.]

However, you can receive experience (at the expense of Computer Spikes) for deactivating the steam vents by using the computer panel on the south wall to the left:

Overloading power conduits in the east barracks, security computer room and flow control room kills all enemies in those rooms except for a lone Sith war droid in the southwest corner of the flow control room. No experience is received for disabling sentry droids, except for those in the security room guarding the north side of the force field since they're killed; nor is it received for corrupting sentry droid targetting, although it is received if when those in the disassembly and flow control rooms are killed by the Sith (those in the security room will only ever inflict a single point of damage on each other with a maximum critical damage roll, so corrupting their targetting is only worth it as a distraction).

Water Pump Analysis
Commander Hasek:
In regards to the system in place to cycle water from the ocean to the thermal heaters:
What were you thinking?!? What made you put that airlock mechanism on the only other path to the north side of the base?? Now everyone has to know how to cycle the water out of one room and into the adjoining one for each of the three rooms in sequence without accidentally flooding the room they're in. We lost seven troopers just this week!
Next time I'm there you better show me how to do it properly! I can't afford to lose any more of my aides while trying to get to the Selkath!
Adjutant:
Sorry, sir, but we had to change the pump mechanism since one of those fish people swam into one of the intakes outside.
The external flow controls push the water into the chambers north and south only now. The flow controls on the inside wall switches the water between sides east and west.
The trick now is to push the water to the north and south extremes, then switch the water east-west and walk through. The meters by the flow control panels show if there is water in the adjacent room. We've also installed lifeform detection sensors, so there shouldn't be any more aide problems...
We're trying to get the system passed as quickly as possible, sir, but the Selkath authorities monitoring our base have made this much more difficult.

There are two pressure doors in the east wall, each with a door control and a meter between them. If you try to open the one to the north on the left:

[The chamber beyond this door is filled with water.]

The chamber to the south on the right is empty, but you receive a similar message if you try to open the second pressure door once inside. If you try to use the door control to the left on the east wall:

[This control panel is currently malfunctioning.]

To get through to the east side, exit and use the door control for the first pressure door to the north:

[Water has been transferred to an ajoining pressure chamber.]

Once inside the empty chamber, use the flow control in the south wall:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Flow Control: WARNING: Activating flow control may flood occupied chambers. Please ensure all receiving chambers are empty.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Flow Control: WARNING: Water transfer proceeding. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Flow Control: WARNING: Activating flow control will flood this chamber. Aborting flow control.

Now you can open the three remaining pressure doors to the east to access the corridor beyond. The door at its south end opens to reveal a room containing another trio of Dark Jedi. Those to the south and west on the left are identical to those encountered to the south of the force field in the security room, while that to the east is slightly more robust and also receives bonuses depending on your character level:

Training Annex[edit]

The door to the training annex is locked if you haven't been approached in Ahto West about missing Selkath. Otherwise, as you arrive a Selkath apprentice is running through the open doorway, letting you in.

Beyond the door in the east wall is the south end of a short corridor leading to a junction to the north: to the west end is a door in the north wall labelled Dormitory, to the north end is a door in the east wall labelled Training Room, and to the east end is a door in the south wall labelled Medical Room. The missing Selkath are in the dormitory, but it's worth exploring the medical and training rooms first.

Medical room[edit]

Three Selkath are lying on the floor of the medical room, two dead and one dying:

These appear to be the personal notes of the Dark Jedi Master in charge of the Sith base on Manaan. It seems that the Sith have been trying to turn impressionable young Selkath over to the dark side.

After reading the lengthy progress reports on this topic, it seems that the final plan was to use these young Selkath to overthrow the current government and install a puppet government that the Sith would dominate.

This datapad will convince the missing Selkath in the dormitory that the Sith are evil without persuasion.

Dormitory[edit]

Back in the dormitory, Shasa stands to the left by the west wall while three Selkath apprentices stand to her right. You're challenged upon entry:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: Intruders! Should we sound the alarm, Shasa?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: No - wait. We cannot always be running to the Masters for help. We should handle this on our own.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: Perhaps this is a test the Sith have prepared for us?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: What are you doing here? Only Masters and Apprentices are allowed in here.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I am Name. What are you Selkath doing inside the Sith embassy? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I am Name. Shaelas has me investigating the disappearance of young Selkath.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: I told you your father would get suspicious, Shasa! He always hated the Sith!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: My father doesn't understand - he is blinded by his own prejudice!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: The Sith are teaching us mastery of the Force. Our alliance with the Sith will bring strength to Manaan and the Selkath people!

The easiest thing to do is express support for the Sith, moving closer to the dark side of the Force:

Dark Side Points Gained: -2
3. Good, I knew the Sith would win.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Ah, I see you are not as foolish as the others I have met. It is good to see that the Jedi Order also realizes the strength of the Sith, and will do what is right when the time comes. If you encounter my father, tell him I will not return to him. I have cast my lot with the Sith and that is all.
KotOR Icon Juhani.png Juhani: *whisper* Why are helping to propagate the Sith lies on this world? If this is some kind of attempt at reverse psychology, I do not understand its purpose. KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: *whisper* How could you say something like that? What's gotten into you? KotOR Icon Jolee.png Jolee: *whisper* I'm not sure what kind of game you're playing, kid, but I don't understand it. Why you would help spread Sith propaganda like this is beyond me. KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: *whisper* How does promoting the Sith help our cause? Think about what you are doing!

You can kill them instead, moving much closer to the dark side of the Force if this is your first response:

You can try to persuade them that the Sith are evil, although they may need further proof:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Sith are evil! What they told you was a lie.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Republic propaganda. The Sith are the victims of lies and half truths! They are not monsters - no more so than the Republic. The Sith have promised to guide us in the use of the Force, as a sign of their good faith. And once the Republic is defeated, the Sith have promised to withdraw from Manaan and respect our independence.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. If the Republic is defeated, the Sith will enslave your planet! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. The Sith just want to corrupt you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Spare us your lies! The Sith have treated us with nothing but respect and honor! You speak as if we are prisoners here, but we can leave whenever we wish! Our friend Galas chose to leave, and he was returned safely to his home in Ahto City.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: Shasa, what if they speak the truth? Remember what happened at Taris...
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Yes... certainly you must have heard of the destruction of Taris. It is your 'honorable' friends that committed that atrocity.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Taris is nothing but a Republic lie! If the Sith are such monsters, then prove it to us. Surely there must be some evidence of the horrors they commit!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Sith are evil, Shasa. They only want Manaan's kolto. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. The Sith are evil, Shasa. They will use you to conquer Manaan for the kolto.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: So you say. But why should we believe you? We need physical proof, not the words of some Republic sympathizer.
Always 3. [Persuade] Give me some time, and I will find proof the Sith are evil. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I haven't found the evidence yet.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: [Success] Shasa, I think we should give them a chance to prove themselves.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: We will not report your presence to our Sith Masters yet. If you bring us proof of Sith lies and torture we will return to our families and report this to the Ahto City authorities.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: Well, great! It can't be that hard to find proof of the Sith's activities... can it?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Until then we shall stay here and continue our training in the ways of the Force.
Journal Entry Added Missing Selkath
You have found the young Selkath that were missing. They have been taken by the Sith and given some training in the dark arts. You have tried to convince them to return to the light side, but they won't budge. It will take some sort of proof to show them how evil the Sith really are...

If you speak to the three Selkath apprentices:

We shall give you a chance to prove your claims against the Sith, human. The Sith have treated us with respect and honor. You must bring us proof before we will believe the accusations of cruelty you make against them. If what you say about the Sith is true, prove it! Until then we have no evidence of the crimes you accuse them of!

They can be convinced without proof if you can dominate minds:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Have you brought us evidence to back up your accusations? Have you found proof the Sith are evil, as you claim?
link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 4. [Force Persuade] The Sith are evil. You want to leave this place and never return. link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 4. [Force Persuade] The Sith are evil. You want to leave this place and never return.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: [Success] Shasa, I think the Sith are evil. I want to go home. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: [Failure] Do you think we are weak minded fools? Our Sith Masters have taught us how to resist such simple Jedi mind tricks! You have no proof of your claims - that is why you must resort to such tactics to make us believe you. The Sith would not try deceive us like this!
KotOR Icon Jolee.png Jolee: Oh-ho! Is this how you win an argument? I would have thought it easier to prove the evil of the dark side than that. KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: I can understand why you're doing this, but surely it can't be that hard to *prove* the evil of the dark side, can it?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: Yes - the Sith are evil. We must leave and never come back.

However, proof is needed to move closer to the light side of the Force. If you received the token from the dying Selkath in the medical room then it can still be hard to persuade them (unless Bastila is in your party to do so if you fail), or the datapad from the footlocker in the Dark Jedi Master's private chamber at the east end of the training room can convince them without any further persuasion:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I found a young Selkath dying from torture here. He gave me this...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: Shasa - this is the pin I gave Galas when we were children. There is blood on it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: You could have found this anywhere! For all we know, you killed Galas!
Hard 1. [Persuade] The Sith tortured him to death, Shasa. You know it's true.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: [Success] Shasa - I believe them. How else would they have found this pin? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: [Failure] I don't know if we should believe them, Shasa.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Use the Force, then. Look into your heart and you will realize what is truth and what is lies. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: The pin is not enough. I am still not convinced the Sith are the monsters you claim. You must find more definite evidence if we are to believe you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: I... I didn't want to believe it, but I can no longer deny what I know to be true. Galas is dead, and the Sith are responsible.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. This datapad proves the Sith are lying to you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: Shasa - this is the Master's own datapad! Look - they are speaking the truth!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: I... I cannot believe it. And yet, the evidence is right before me. The Sith wanted to use us to betray Manaan!
Hard 1. [Persuade] The Sith tortured him to death, Shasa. You know it's true. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. This datapad proves the Sith are lying to you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shasa: I must apologize for doubting you. The Sith are truly as evil as you have claimed.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Apprentice: We must report this to the Ahto City authorities!
Light Side Points Gained: +4
Shasa: Yes - we must report this at once. We thank you, human, for showing us the truth. You have saved us from a terrible mistake.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: You have been saved from more than you know. Given time, the Sith would have turned you fully to the dark side... and you would have betrayed your world gladly. KotOR Icon Jolee.png Jolee: Just be careful with those gifts you've already learned. Beware the dark side... or you may end up betraying your world regardless.
Hard 1. [Persuade] The Sith tortured him to death, Shasa. You know it's true. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Return to Shaelas in the mercenary enclave of Ahto West, leaving the base via the elevator to Ahto East.

Elevator to Ahto City[edit]

Before leaving the Sith base, save game and make sure you've done everything you came to do: although you can return later, upon leaving you're arrested by a Selkath officer supported by droids, and taken all the way to the other side of the city where you may be sentenced to death if you're not careful:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Officer: You there! Human! You are placed under the arrest of the Ahto City Civil Authority!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You'll never take me alive!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Officer: Do not be foolish, human! We have the entire armed forces of Manaan at our disposal. You WILL submit to our authority!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What? Why? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I have done nothing wrong. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You'll never take me alive!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Officer: Though the Sith Embassy here is considered sovereign territory of the Sith Empire, we have been monitoring an alarming number of weapon discharges and detonations from within the base. Inquiries to the staff of the Embassy yielded no response. It would seem that contact had been cut. Our cameras recorded you entering the base shortly before contact was lost and fighting apparently began. It is the conclusion of the Ahto City Civil Authority that you are responsible for the disturbance here, and you are hereby placed under arrest. You will come with us to await your trial.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Officer: As material witnesses, the individuals who accompany you will be detained at your vessel, and the vessel itself prohibited from leaving Manaan.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Selkath Officer: We will leave. Now. Do not attempt to resist, or we shall resort to overwhelming force.

You're taken to prison, where Bwa'lass, the Selkath selected as Arbiter for your trial, speaks to you:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Greetings, human. I am called Bwa'lass, and I have been selected as your Arbiter for the duration of your trial. I will endeavor to prove to them that you are not guilty of the heinous crimes that you are accused of, off-worlder.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Get me out of here!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: The question of your freedom will be up to the court to decide. All I can do as Arbiter is attempt to sway their decision in your favor.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Arbiter?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Yes, Arbiter. The one who defends you before the judges of the Selkath people.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I don't need anyone to represent me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: While it is true that you do have that right, I would recommend against it. Due to your confinement, you have not had much of a chance to build up evidence to pursue your case. Also, I do not believe you off-worlders truly understand the minds of we Selkath. It would be best if you left your defense up to me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. What have I been charged with?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: You have been charged with initiating violence within the Sith Embassy, murdering members of the Ambassadorial Commission of the Sith Empire, and disregarding our own laws regarding violence in Ahto City.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. It's all the Sith's fault!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Be that as it may, I doubt the judges share your view. I will endeavor, however, to make them see your point, off-worlder.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How will you get me free? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What can I do?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I would first like to ask you a few questions regarding the events that led up to your arrest. I have already been given all relevant data on you and your companions, so that can be disregarded. For what reason did you enter the Sith Embassy?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I was invited. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I had authorization to enter. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I... er... broke in.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Indeed... That would explain the reason a passcard for entry was found on your person. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Indeed. I find that unlikely, off-worlder, but perhaps the judges will be more sympathetic to your view. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Illegal acts seem to be a common occurrence among you off-worlders. I am not terribly surprised by your actions, but the judges will want to hear a little more convincing reason.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: What is your prior association with the Sith?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I have no prior association. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm on a mission to stop them from taking over the galaxy. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I kill them wherever I find them.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Indeed... Since you have a passcard to their base, I can only assume you believe taking this route would lessen your sentence... Very well. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I am skeptical of that, as will be the judges. You off-worlders tend to congregate much amongst yourself. I see no inherent differences between your two groups. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: The Sith are an expansionist power, true, and at war with the Republic. You may make it your personal mission to foil them, but the authorities take a dim view of it taking place here. I think you will need a more thorough explanation in order to convince the judges. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I am... humbled by your candor. While I'm sure that you yourself see that as a noble sentiment, I doubt that those assigning your sentence will be so generous.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: That should be all the information I require of you, for now. If you wish, we can begin the trial whenever you are ready.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Um... Don't you need to ask more questions?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I have all the information I need. We should proceed now, the judges are waiting.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How can you expect to defend me without getting more information?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I think this trial is relatively straight forward. It should be obvious to the judges what has transpired.

Once he's finished questioning you, you have your first opportunity to tell him you'll represent yourself, or share evidence that the Sith are evil if you found the datapad in the training annex of the Sith base while looking for missing Selkath:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I think I'd rather represent myself. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I have proof that the Sith are evil.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: While that is your right, I strongly recommend against it. I am versed in all the necessary particulars of this case and Selkath law, off-worlder. You would do well to heed my advice. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Indeed? And what is that?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'll show it to the judges, or no one!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: You must share the evidence with me before I can release you and we can proceed to the courtroom.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. No, I'll represent myself. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I said no, fish-head! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. This datapad proving they are kidnapping young Selkath.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: You off-worlders are not known for your mental prowess. I shall leave your demise up to you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: This is most... disturbing. We should take this evidence and present it before the court right away.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Let's get the trial started. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Fine, represent me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Very well, we shall proceed to the courtroom.

You're taken before the Ahto High Court:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Your past experience as Arbiter in the Sunry case may aid in your defence now, human, but you must do a better job yourself, given the crimes you are faced with. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: The familiarity you gained in your successful defence of Sunry will aid you here, human. But the charges you are faced with are far more grave. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: While you have proven the Sith to manipulative and deceitful in their activities here on Manaan, I believe you will have a much harder time defending your actions now. Some things go too far, off-worlder. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: While your high standing among the off-worlders on Manaan may bring you some leniency from them, being a successful swoop rider brings you no credit here, human.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: You stand accused of the grievous murder of many Sith, and extensive property damage to their Embassy here.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: How do you plead?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I don't plead! I tell!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: We will not tolerate insolence! You will obey the rules of our court, or you will be summarily found guilty!

The truth does not set you free, and pleading guilty results in being sentenced to death:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: My client pleads not guilty, your honors.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Interrupt.]
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: What is it, human? You must have a good reason for interrupting our proceedings.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm guilty! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Guilty.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: I strongly recommend against this course of action...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: You... You are guilty? You admit to your crime?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Yes. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. It was a lot of fun, really.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Well... Then I suppose we have no choice but to sentence you for your crimes.

So you should definitely plead not guilty:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: My client pleads not guilty, your honors. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Not guilty. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Er... no... I was just kidding.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. [Allow him to continue.] KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: This court will not be mocked!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Let the record show that this trial has commenced. Presiding are judges Shelkar...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge: Jhosa… KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge: Naleshekan… KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge: Kota… KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge: and Duula.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: This trial is to determine the culpability and punishment of this individual in the recent assault on the Sith Embassy.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: Given the severity of this trial, we can dispense with the normal formalities of the court and proceed directly.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: You have pleaded not guilty, yet there were reports of weaponsfire and detonations from within the Sith Embassy.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: You were seen entering and leaving the Embassy. The Sith have not conferred with the authorities about this matter, but from all available evidence, it would seem that you are the source of the disturbance.

People who represent themselves may have fools for clients, but allowing Bwa'lass to continue, or interrupting him to claim you're not really a Jedi, also results in being sentenced to death:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: My client was there by circumstance, and was not involved in the disturbance.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. [Allow him to continue.] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Interrupt.]
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: This is merely a mistake against a person who was there in the wrong place at the wrong time on legitimate business. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: What is it, off-worlder? Do you have something to say regarding your reasons for being there?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: That does not seem likely, Arbiter. The weight of the material evidence, including those items in the defendants possession, is too strong. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. That is not why I was there!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: Indeed? Then your Arbiter does not speak for you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: What legitimate business was your client involved in at the Sith Embassy? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Never mind.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: The business of the Jedi Order, of course. My client, as noted on the entry transcript, is a member of said Order. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: Enough of these interruptions! Continue, Arbiter.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. [Allow him to continue.] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Interrupt.]
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: As a member of this Order, my client is above reproach. A Jedi would not have murdered so many out of spite. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: What is it, Jedi? Or are you not a member of that Order?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: The Order is involved in a war with the Sith. A very messy war. It is not unreasonable that some fanatic would seek to bring that war here. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I'm not really a Jedi!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: My client is not a fanatic! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: You are not a Jedi? You come to this court under false pretenses??
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: Like a Suba pod waiting to strike when it hatches no doubt... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: My client is not rational at the moment. Please disregard these statements.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Please, your honor, that is unfair... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: It is quite obvious what your client is, Arbiter! A murderer, as well as a liar!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Enough! We have heard enough. Your explanation is not good enough, Arbiter. You have failed. There is more than enough evidence to convict this criminal. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: For the crimes you have committed against the Sith and against the laws of the Ahto City Civil Authority, this court finds no alternative: We hereby sentence you to death. You will be executed immediately. This court has spoken.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Please, your honors! My client... my client is mentally incompetent and unable to form complex thoughts. Please, I throw my client on the mercy of the court!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. [Allow him to continue.] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Interrupt.]
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: The court does not dispense in mercy, only justice! Your client will be sentenced according to our laws and tradition! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: Your client is not so incompetent as that, Arbiter.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. No! I am a Republic citizen! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm innocent!

The last of four remaining chances to interrupt and dismiss Bwa'lass as Arbiter to represent yourself comes after he's thrown you on the mercy of the court:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I wish to dismiss my Arbiter.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: Is this true? Do you not wish to retain my services?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I will defend myself. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Go away, bottom-feeder! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I reconsidered. You may continue.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Bwa'lass: As my client demands, I shall retire. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: Do not mock this court by wasting its time!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: As you will.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: What is your explanation for being in the Sith Embassy? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Now, then. What is YOUR explanation for being at the Sith Embassy?

You can be a fool and still get sentenced to death by admitting any of the following:

  • You felt like showing the Sith who was boss after they tried to lure you to the dark side or offer you a job.
  • Working for the Republic and entering the Sith Embassy to steal information or retrieve data the Sith had stolen.
  • Killing Sith simply because they needed killing or are a blight upon the galaxy.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. It was just a coincidence.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: You were clearly seen entering the Sith base. You cannot deny this fact!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: You must have had some reason for entering. What was it, human?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Sith lured me inside.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: Indeed. I am most skeptical of this statement.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: But it may be true... How was it they lured you inside? What bait did they use?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. They were secretly trying to lure me to the dark side. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. They offered me a job.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: This mystical darkside you Jedi keep speaking of is a convenient excuse. Basically, they wished to hire you away from the Republic. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: Offered you a job? To a Jedi?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: How, then, did the fighting start? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Unlikely... but possible. How then, did the fighting start?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I felt like showing them who was boss.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: You... attacked them?!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: I knew the off-worlder was a danger!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I was working for the Republic.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: You were working for the Republic? So the Republic had you break in and kill the Sith? It is as I suspected...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: Do not jump to conclusions.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Why did the Republic have you enter the Sith Embassy?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. To steal information. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. To retrieve data the Sith had stolen.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: You admit that you entered the Sith base illegally and attempted to commit crimes there! It is obvious that they tried to stop you and that you initiated hostilities! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: One crime does not permit the use of another to set it right!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: So like an off-worlder...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I was killing Sith. See? Simple.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: See! I knew that the off-worlder was guilty! They all are!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: What... what possible reason could you have to justify your actions?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. They needed killing. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. The Sith are a blight upon the galaxy!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: You admit to your crime! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: That does not excuse your actions! The neutrality and laws of Manaan WILL be upheld!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: You have willfully and blatantly broken our laws, and for that you shall be sentenced accordingly!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. No! I am a Republic citizen! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm innocent!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: For the crimes you have committed against the Sith and against the laws of the Ahto City Civil Authority, this court finds no alternative: We hereby sentence you to death. You will be executed immediately. This court has spoken.

Stating you're a Republic citizen or innocent is to no avail, and the only thing that can now save you from being taken back to the holding cell and electrocuted is being able to give them the datapad from the training annex of the Sith base: presenting it, or the token received from the dying Selkath in the medical room, as evidence if you can tell them you were investigating the missing Selkath is also the easiest way to be found innocent.

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I was investigating the disappearances of young Selkath.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: You believe that the Sith have had something to do with those disappearance?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: The off-worlder has probably been listening to Shaelas and his rumor-mongering.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Most likely. Do you have any proof to back up your assumption, human? Have the Sith been implicated?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Er... well, no...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: You will need to come up with a better excuse than that, off-worlder!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I have this datapad as proof that the Sith are up to no good! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I found this token on a dead Selkath inside the Sith base.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Let it be noted that the court has taken this new evidence into consideration. Hm... This is... most disturbing. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: I recognize that token! It is from Galas, one of the youths who went missing!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: You found that in their Embassy?!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: The Sith HAVE been taking them!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: The court will adjourn for a brief period to verify this evidence and discuss its importance.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: We have verified that this is indeed a Sith datapad indicating their complicity in a plot to overthrow the lawful government of Manaan. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: We have verified that this token was indeed from Galas indicating the complicity of the Sith in the disappearances of our young.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: In gratitude for having discovered this heinous offense, all charges against you regarding this incident will be dropped. Pending a suitable penalty against the Sith, their Embassy is considered off-limits to all Ahto City Security personnel. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: In gratitude for having discovered this heinous offense, all charges against you regarding this incident will be dropped. Pending a suitable penalty against the Sith, their Embassy is considered off-limits to all Ahto City Security personnel.

Otherwise, they'll still find you innocent after you claim any of the following:

  • The Sith tried to lure you to the dark side or offer you a job, then double-crossed you or attacked you when you refused.
  • You were there for diplomatic negotiations after claiming the Sith lured you inside or admitting that you were working for the Republic.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I refused and they attacked. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. They tried to double-cross me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: Preposterous!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: That does sound like something the Sith would do...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: I am inclined to believe the off-worlder.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Sith lured me inside. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I was working for the Republic. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. The Republic ordered me to go into their base.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Naleshekan: Indeed. I am most skeptical of this statement. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Duula: You were working for the Republic? So the Republic had you break in and kill the Sith? It is as I suspected...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: Do not jump to conclusions.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: But it may be true... How was it they lured you inside? What bait did they use? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Why did the Republic have you enter the Sith Embassy?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I was there for diplomatic negotiations.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: I am skeptical of this assertion... but it does seem in the character of the Sith to reneg on their commitments.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: There have been many provocations before this! Their character is well known!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: Indeed, but that is not an issue for outsiders to hear. We will adjourn to debate your story and the charges brought against you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: We have reviewed your case and decided that there is not enough evidence to convict you of this crime.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Jhosa: The provocations of the Sith are well known, and we will be issuing a memo of censure against them. Their Embassy is considered off-limits to all Ahto City Security personnel.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Kota: No calls or incidents from their base will be attended to until this matter is dealt with, as they are no longer subject to the protections of Selkath law.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: You have been found innocent, and may leave as you desire. This trial is now over.

Having been found innocent, you're free to leave the Ahto High Court... in Ahto West. If you haven't activated the Sunry Murder Trial and you speak to Judge Shelkar again after presenting the datapad from the training annex of the Sith base, or the token received from the dying Selkath in the medical room:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Judge Shelkar: The Selkath people thank you for exposing the Sith plots here on Manaan. When our leaders decide a fitting punishment, they will certainly know our displeasure. If there is anything else you wish to bring to my attention, you have my permission to ask.

If you retrieved the encrypted data module from the disassembly room before leaving the Sith base, then you can return it to Roland Wann in the Republic Embassy in East Central. Otherwise, you'll need to return to the Sith base in Ahto East again, where you'll find it's now guarded by a single assault droid and a Sith droid has replaced the diplomat behind the reception desk. If you speak to it:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Droid: This entrance to the Sith Embassy has been closed temporarily due to a maintenance failure. The main entrance to the Embassy will reopen when the problem has been fixed.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I heard the Embassy was attacked. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. How can I get inside now?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Droid: What?! How did you... Um... This unit has no knowledge of what you're talking about. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Droid: The secondary external entrance is reserved for Sith personnel only and is not to be used by visitors.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I heard the Embassy was attacked. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. How can I get inside now? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I will be going.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Droid: Those with legitimate business with the Sith should return when the repairs have been completed.

You can now enter the base without a passcard.
