Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is a fighting game in the Tekken series. It was initially released in arcades in Japan on September 14, 2011. An updated version was released in arcades on March 27, 2012, under the title Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited. This version added new customization options, rebalanced the gameplay, and allowed for characters to fight either solo or in tag teams, either in 1-vs-1, 2-vs-2, or even 1-vs-2. This version served as the basis for the console versions.

The game includes by far the largest character roster in the series history, with the console versions having 59 characters, 10 of which were added in free updates after the initial release. Four of those characters were available on day one only to people who preordered the game.

The Wii U version of the game, titled Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition, adds additional game modes, including "Mushroom Battle", where mushrooms from the Super Mario Bros. series appear and can change the size of characters, "Tekken Ball", which returns from Tekken 3, and "Tekken Supporters", which allows players to donate "fight money" earned in gameplay to specific characters to unlock their customization equipment. This version also has additional costumes based on characters from Nintendo franchises.
