Cake puzzle

Solution.

All six guests need to receive an equal share of cake. Each share must have two headstones, two skulls and one blank piece. The pieces given to each guest must touch on a side. The final shape of the pieces for each guest doesn't matter.

Solution

Select each of the five pieces within the red borders, as shown in the image.

Tins puzzle

Solution.

Rearrange the cans so that they make a complete sentence.

  • Hint from the game: Bashful nomad, craftily, agilely, meet secretly near my underground vault.
Solution

The cans should read: SHY GYPSY SLYLY SPRYLY TRYST BY MY CRYPT

Telescope puzzle

Solution.

Spell out a sentence by PC Mouse Left Click.png on the letters. After selecting a letter, the next one selected must be connected to the last via a path.

Solution

Click on the Letters starting with the T at the bottom to spell: THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY.

Bed puzzle

Solution.

Make a sentence from the letters on the bedspread. From the last selected letter, the next letters that can be used are either -5, -3, +3 or +5 letters away. The * symbols are used as spaces.

Solution

Click on the letters starting with the T to spell: THE*SKY*IS*RUDDY*YOUR*FATE*IS*BLOODY!

Bishop puzzle

Solution.

The aim of this puzzle is to move the white pieces to occupy the squares where the black pieces are, and vice versa. The bishops can only move diagonally and cannot move onto squares where they can be taken by the opposing colour. This also means that the bishops on different coloured squares cannot affect each other.

Solution

First, work only with the pieces on one colour of squares, then use the mirror image of the moves to get the bishops on the other colour across. Alternate the below moves, with Black and White:

Black E2→D3 A2→B3 D3→B1 B3→C4 A4→D1 D1→E2 B1→C2 C2→A4 E4→C2
C4→A2 E2→C4 C2→D1 A2→B1 B1→E4 C4→D3 D1→B3 B3→A2 D3→E2
White E3→D2 A3→B2 D2→B4 B2→C1 A1→D4 D4→E3 B4→C3 C3→A1 E1→C3
C1→A3 E3→C1 C3→D4 A3→B4 B4→E1 C1→D2 D4→B2 B2→A3 D2→E3

Heart Maze puzzle

Solution.

Open and close gates so that the blood can flow from the heart to the end. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the heart to start the blood flowing.

Solution

PC Mouse Left Click.png on the gates to form the route in the image.

Queen puzzle

Solution.

Position eight queens on the board so that no queen can capture another queen. Queens can move in any direction including diagonals for as many squares as they want.

Solution

For one solution, place the Queens as shown in the image. There are a total of 12 unique solutions, which may be obtained through backtracking or brute force.

Grate puzzle

Solution.

The aim of this puzzle is to move the two grates with the semi-circular cutouts to form a hole at the right hand side. To do this, the grates need to be slid around.

Solution

The image has the layout of the grids and below are the moves required to get the hole on the right.

5 → 6 → 3 → 2 → 5 → 4 → 1 → 2 → 5 → 6 → 3 → 2 → 5 → 4 → 5

On a PC:

5 → 6 → 3 → 2 → 5 → 4 → 1 → 2 → 5 → 6 → 3 → 2 → 5 → 6 → 3 → 2 → 1 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 3 → 2

Maze puzzle

Solution.

Find your way to the Crypt puzzle at the end of the maze.

Solution

Follow the route from "START" to "FINISH".

Crypt puzzle

Solution.

Your goal is to close all the coffin lids. There is a simple pattern to the way the lids open and close:

  1. When one of the corner coffins is clicked, the three lids adjacent to it in the shape of a square flip from open to closed or vice versa.
  2. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the lids in the center of the sides, and all three lids on that edge flip.
  3. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the center coffin flips the lids of the adjacent coffins horizontally and vertically.
Solution

As the layout of the coffin lids is random at the start, there is no set solution to the problem. However, you may use the following table to form a solution. Number the coffins going left to right, top to bottom so that the top left coffin is 1 and the bottom right coffin is 9. Then, to close a coffin while leaving the others in their original state:

To close coffin 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Click on coffins 1,2,3,4,5,7 2,4,6,7,9 1,2,3,5,6,9 2,3,4,8,9 2,4,5,6,8 1,2,6,7,8 1,4,5,7,8,9 1,3,4,6,8 3,5,6,7,8,9

Note that each list of coffins can be clicked in any order.

To find an optimal solution for any starting configuration simply use the table above to count the number of times each coffin must be clicked (for example if coffins 1, 2, and 6 were open at the start just blindly following the above lists you'd have to click coffin 1 twice, coffin 2 three times, coffin 3 once, coffin 4 twice, and so on.) Then, any coffin that you would have clicked an odd number of times you need only click once; any coffin that you would have clicked an even number of times need not be clicked at all. (Again, using the same example where you want to close 1, 2, and 6 you would click once on each of 2,3,5,7,8,9.) Since each coffin is clicked once at most, the puzzle is solvable in nine clicks or less.

Once the puzzle is solved clicking the cursor when it displays the 'look to the side' pointing finger will result in you exiting the entire room (by climbing into one of the coffins, for... Some reason), and re-emerging in the kitchen. There's no need to traverse the awful maze again, though - just head straight to the drawing-room before you do anything else, and click on the book to be taken straight back to the crypt puzzle.

Card puzzle

Flip over all the cards. Only cards in line on a row or column can be flipped.

Solution

Follow the route from the Card as.png to the Card jokerblack.png.

Knight puzzle

Solution.

The Knight puzzle is similar to the Bishop puzzle in that the white knights must replace the black knights, and vice versa. Knights can only move in an "L" shape of two squares by one.

Solution

One way of getting the knights across the board is by moving the knights on the following squares in sequence. The squares are lettered from left to right and numbered from top to bottom:

A4 → C5 → B3 → A5 → C4 → E3 → D1 → B2 → C4 → A3 → C2 → E1 → D3 → C1 → E2 ↵
C3 → B1 → D2 → C4 → E5 → D3 → C5 → B3 → A1 → C2 → A3 → C4 → E3 → C2 → E1 ↵
D3 → B4 → A2 → C1 → B3 → D4 → E2 → C1 → B3 → D4 → B5 → C3 → E4 → D2 → B3 ↵
D4 → E2 → C3 → D5 → E3 → D1 → C3 → D5 → B4 → A2 → C1 → E2 → C3

Coin puzzle

Turn over all the coins. Once a coin is turned over, only the coins along the column above, below or on the row to the right or left of it can be flipped.

Solution

Follow the route from 1 to 15, then 1 to 21.

Spider puzzle

Solution.

The aim of this puzzle is replace each of the purple dots on the points of the star with a spider.

Solution

Pick any dot to start with, then pick another dot that is connected to it via a straight line. A spider will walk from the first dot to the second dot replacing the second dot. Now pick a dot that is connected to the first dot by a straight line and click on that dot and the first dot. Repeat the process, always sending a spider to the last dot that you sent a spider from. You will end up on a last dot with all the others occupied by spiders.

Picture puzzle

Solution.

The aim of the puzzle is to recreate the original picture by flipping over the individual pieces. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the buttons on the sides of the frame flip the pictures on that row either forwards or backwards. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the buttons on the top and bottom of the frame do the same with the vertical columns.

Solution

Start off by flipping the columns until the centre row of the picture is correct. Then flip the top row until it is correct, then do the same with the bottom row. If you get an odd square on any of the rows, then the puzzle is unsolvable and you will have to restart it.

Blocks puzzle

Solution.

The aim of this puzzle is to form three words reading from left to right. The columns can be rotated up, down, left and right by PC Mouse Left Click.png on the edge of the square in the direction you wish the column or row to move.

Solution

To complete the puzzle you need to spell: GET BOY TAD. Complete it by performing the following moves:

  1. Column 1: down one.
  2. Column 3: up one.
  3. Row 1: right one.
  4. Row 3: left one.
  5. Column 1: down one.
  6. Column 3: up one.
  7. Row 1: right one.
  8. Row 3: left one.

Floor puzzle

Solution.

The aim is to get from the arrow in the bottom left to the arrow at the top right. You step onto the final arrow as the last blocks drop. As you step off the coloured blocks, they drop away behind you according to a certain rule. Standing on:

  • Purple, the block will fall after three steps.
  • Orange, the block will fall after two steps.
  • Blue, the block will fall after one step.
Solution

Follow the route from start to finish.

Microscope puzzle

Microscope puzzle solution.

The Microscope puzzle is similar to the game of Ataxx: the idea is to have more blobs of blue (your colour) than green when the whole tray is full. Your blobs can move in one of two ways:

  1. Moving one space in any direction duplicates the blob to fill that space.
  2. Moving two spaces vacates the original space, and moved the blob to the new space. If the space you move into is adjacent to any green blobs, those blobs turn blue.
Solution

A perfect (all blobs turned blue) solution can be achieved with the following moves:

  1. A1→C1
  2. C1→B2
  3. B2→C2
  4. C2→D2
  5. C2→C3
  6. B2→B3
  7. B3→A4

Piano puzzle

Solution.

Copy the piano notes that are played. An extra note is added each time.

Solution

Follow the sequence from 1 to 18.

The final composition of notes is:
B     BHigh     F#     G     E     D#     E     F#     E     B     BHigh     CHigh     BHigh     AHigh     G     F#     E     F#

Painting puzzle

Solution.

Your goal is to change the painting back to the human likeness of Stauf. There is a simple pattern to the way the lid parts of the painting change. When one of the corner squares is clicked, the three squares adjacent to it in the shape of a square flip from one picture to the next. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the square in the centre of the sides, and all three squares on that side change. PC Mouse Left Click.png on the centre square flips the horizontally and vertically adjacent squares. The painting changes from the human Stauf to a Red Devil, then to a Green Demon, then back to the human Stauf.

Solution

As the layout of the parts of the painting are random at the start, there is no set solution to the problem, but try and get the parts of the paining into a symmetrical layout as this makes it easier to change them all.

In some cases, you may encounter the following situations:

  • To fix the center cell without affecting others, PC Mouse Left Click.png on a corner cell twice, followed by the opposite corner twice. (You could also PC Mouse Left Click.png on the four corners instead.) Then, PC Mouse Left Click.png on the center cell.
  • If you have a complete image but the wrong one, PC Mouse Left Click.png on each corner cell once, then each edge cell twice to cycle to the next image.
  • If the opposite left and right cells in the middle row are mismatched, PC Mouse Left Click.png on the bottom left corner twice, then the bottom right corner once. You can rotate this pattern for the top and bottom cells.

Knives puzzle

Solution.

The aim of this puzzle is to remove all the knives except for one from the door. To remove a knife, you must jump over it with another knife along the lines of the star symbol.

Solution

The layout of the star and the moves required to complete it are as follows. You start at six then do the following jumps:

6→1, 5→3, 8→5, 2→4, 1→7, 5→8, 9→7, 10→7

Windows puzzle

The aim of this puzzle is to start from the bottom of the house and move to the top by going from window to window. The directions that you take from each window are determined when you first move from that shaped window to another, i.e. if you start at a rectangular window and move left, you can only move left from a rectangular window from then on. There are four differently shaped windows which will need to be set to the four different directions. Once a window has been set to a direction, it remains set until the end of the puzzle. Also, once a window has been set, when you land on that shaped window, the computer will automatically follow its own route using the directions you have set. The house is in three levels and you will have to pick a start window on each of the levels.

Solution

To solve the puzzle, start at the bottom and work your way up.

  • Bottom floor: Start at the sixth window from the left at the bottom and set the windows as follows:
    1. The round window to up.
    2. The semi-circular window to right.
    3. The arched window to down.
    4. The rectangular window to left.
  • Middle floor: On this level, start at the third window from the left.
  • Top floor: Start at second window from the left.
