This section includes plans for crafting tools and objects that fall under Special Plans. Some tools only need to be crafted once, and then they'd permanently stay in your Sims' Inventory. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock better tools to craft. If you have more than one of the same tool, your Sim will automatically use the better-quality tool. You need to craft higher-quality tools in order to gather certain resources, such as hardwood and sandalwood.

Tool Plans[edit]

Higher-quality tools require good Mechanical Skill.

Torch[edit]

There are two important components to any torch: the stick and the open flame atop it. Be sure to remember this when assembling your own at home.

You need to craft a torch and have it in your Sim's Inventory if you want to harvest honeycomb.

Chicken Trap[edit]

Ancient man trapped chickens by playing a primitive musical instrument and then hitting them with it.

You need at least one chicken trap in order to catch a chicken, but you can craft more than one and place it down wherever there are chicken feathers on the ground. You need to wait several hours (even a few days) after setting down for your trap to get a better chance of catching a chicken. Once you've caught a chicken, it'll appear in your Sim's Inventory. You can either cook it for food or set it on a chicken coop so it can produce eggs that you can eat.

Stone Hoe[edit]

Now you too can cultivate the earth just like our ancestors did a thousand years ago - with a stone hoe and percolating resentment.

You need a hoe in order to grow your own crops.

Resources 5 Stone, 5 Hardwood, 5 Rope

Fish Trap[edit]

The first fish trap was a sharpened pole stuck in the water, although no one was sure how this was supposed to catch fish. Still, it was a start.

Fish traps work similar to chicken traps. With the fish trap, you can catch fish you wouldn't be able to catch just by fishing with the pole or spear, including squid and eels. You can also catch small and medium fish, but not large fish such as sharks. To set a fish trap, have one in your Sim's Inventory, walk up to any school of fish in the water, and use the Place Trap interaction. Like with chicken traps, you need to leave the fish traps several hours and then return to check if you've caught anything. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to get something.

Metal Axe[edit]

Ask not what this metal axe can do for you, ask what you can do with this metal axe. Or, skip that part and read this: you can only chop sandalwood with this.

An upgrade to the stone and shell axe. This is the best axe available and the only one in which you can harvest sandalwood, which you need for higher-quality crafting projects, particularly shelters.

Shell Axe[edit]

Your Things to Cleave list will get shorter and shorter once you make a shell axe, so chop to it.

Bamboo Fishing Pole[edit]

The flexible durability of a bamboo fishing pole helps assure that "the big one" won't ever get away from you again.

The most basic version of the fishing pole. This is required in order to catch the bigger fish. To fish, approach any ocean, river, or pool and select the interaction to start fishing. As with the spear, fishing is all about timing and patience. You should see a red bobber in the water. Keep a close eye on it. Wait until the bobber sinks deeper into the water; you've got something. Press the button to reel the fish in. What you capture depends on where you fish.

Sewing Kit[edit]

Veteran castaways know torn fabric is no laughing matter, unless you rip your pants and don't have a sewing kit handy.

The sewing kit is a very useful tool if you care about your Sim's appearance and don't want their new clothes getting ruined by the elements. With the sewing kit, you can cut your Sims' hair, as well as repair any damage to your Sims' top, bottoms and shoes.

Bamboo Spear[edit]

Don't be bamboozled by this bamboo spear. Just aim, stab, repeat.

This version of the spear is the most basic available. You need a spear to catch fish. To go fishing via the spear, go up to any school of fish in the water and select the interaction to start fishing. Your Sim will equip their spear. Fishing with the spear is all about patience and timing. Watch the fish in the water. As soon as you see a fish jump out of the water, that's your cue to strike. You can catch a variety of fish via the spear. Whilst fishing, the fish may scatter, automatically ending your session. If you mistime your strike, the fish may scatter.

If you need to build up on your Logic Skill, the chess table will help your Sims with that. They also provide your Sims with Fun. You need to have at least one dining chair in order to use the chess table. If you place two chairs by the chess table, two Sims can play against each other.
