NPC, which stands for Non-Playable Characters, in The Sims 2 Pets are Sims that have a duty role and can't be added as a playable Sim. Although players may also label not currently played Sims and pets has NPCs, they aren't explicity define by the game.

The following types of NPCs and their tasks are:

Public Service[edit]

  • Newspaper deliver: brings a newspaper by the mailbox every morning.
  • Mail carrier: leaves bills in the mailbox that the family is required to pay.

Service[edit]

These are the type of NPC that can only be hired from the telephone.

  • Firefighter: puts out all fires.
  • Gardener: waters plants.
  • Maid:: cleans up objects and plates, mops puddles and throws out trash.
  • Repair person: repairs all the plumbing objects, electronics and appliances.
  • Therapist/Shrink: changes Wants of the phoned Sim. This is the only NPC that doesn't show up and undertakes his duties on the telephone.

Emergency Service[edit]

While these type of NPCs can also be called from Service option menu, they will also arrive on the lot under other certain conditions.

  • Fire department: puts out all fires.
  • Police officer: apprehends a burglar and will fine the player after the first warning if their Sim doesn't break it up before the officer.
  • Paramedic: revives a Sim or pet that has passed up from life-threating danger. If there aren't any Sim to douse them or call the paramedic, the npc will eventually will arrive on their own or be brought by the patient's pet that ran to get help.
