Eternal Eyes

Can't say I did, but I couldn't find any sites that mentioned them. It seems they are both the publisher and distributor. -- Prod (Talk) 05:06, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Dungeon Floor Plan

I was planning on putting something like that up. Would it be best to have a map like in Link to The Past, or a small map in Oracle of Ages? There are game and dungeon maps done by TerraEsperZ I can put up. Of course, he gets the credit. Snake's Remains will be slightly tricker, because it's split into two parts. I'm looking forward to pushing this guide up to Stage 2 soon. --|Superpowered Mario 19:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I've uploaded the Hero's Cave map. It's overall size is quite big, but the scale it goes by is exact. I didn't want to tamper with it that much and throw it off. It's technically not a real dungeon, so I wouldn't worry about it. For Gnarled Root Dungeon, the map marks the items and staircases. The only enemies on it are the miniboss and boss, but it's to show keys in the dungeon. That one will be up momentairly. --|Superpowered Mario

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance.

I'm beginning to like working on this article. I feel like much at home now. Well, don't want to sound nasty but I do regret The Legend of Zelda The Windwaker last year, I was actually too stressed to work on the guide because of Christmas and Boxing Day so sorry about it.

Besides the screenshots which is my weakness, its actually the walkthrough which I admit is the hardest to do and I need some advice on that very part because I'm still thinking about it whether I should do it or not. When you write like a fresh walkthrough, what pointers should I use when I'm writing it? It might not be easy to understand but maybe it helps to learn more tricks of the trade as times are changing. So take your time and hope for the best. Johnnyauau2000 10:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. When you're stress free knowing that you have fun with that game, I hope we can work together but since the weekend is coming, for now I'll try to compile available info like faqs, official websites etc, as long as its reliable. You should continue on cleaning up articles and whenever you're ready, you can help me on this article.

Not to spoil anything but I almost finish the game with Adrianna but I got so caught up with importing that I accidentally save over my life with my brothers file so that's something I like to laugh at. So I'll play the game again on the weekend and do my best to compile the info. Even though it's still not time to put collaberation of the month, I at least enjoy that I'm no longer alone. I hope DrBob isn't busy but thank you very much. Johnnyauau2000 07:16, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Lastly, go for it. If you love this game although I don't know what console you own but go for it. Go out there and buy the game. Johnnyauau2000 07:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey! How you are doing? I just wanna let you know that, it's pretty funny. I start off as Vahn and because of the strength and dexterity, I manage to blow through the story up to Act 3. The funniest thing is every act of every level comes in threes. Might not be true at first but that's the pattern. Anyway, I think I'm close to finishing the game. But it will be a while longer because I also want to play as Kromlech, Adrianna and Drizzt so I might not be able to edit for a while. Anyway, if you are playing the game, let me know how you go and what character are you playing. Johnnyauau2000 05:59, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

The Gauntlet is pretty hard for me so I decided a safe and time consuming way of finishing that mode to get extreme mode. I'd say I had to reach for the buttons to make the cheat work. I mean you need a big hand to go for the invincible cheat which I shouldn't do but I was frustrated at that point. I'm halfway finishing the game with Kromlech and found only the dwarfs interaction to be different to the other main characters. Anyway, so much for not having a diary! I'll be ready to write a walkthrough and see what methods each character has to use. It will be a few more days. Keep in touch. Johnnyauau2000 03:50, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Geez, I thought you are still busy cleaning up other articles. Well, I do like to think a lot anyway. Judging by the pages you did, I believe you did play that game. After all been along time since you ever did a walkthrough and I like to compliment you on it. So keep up the good work and if you need help, send me a message and I'll do it. I thought I'm going to have nightmares again but maybe soon I'll have a solo chance on a walkthrough when I'm brave enough. Johnnyauau2000 06:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

One last thing. I'm curious about the stages. Like stages 1 to stages 4. What are they and how do these work? What's the requirement for going upstage if I put it that way? Put a link to it if you are too busy to answer it. I'll see how it goes. Johnnyauau2000 06:39, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

No that's not what I mean! Each game article has stages. What examples could I give you? Medal of Honor Frontline is stage 4 which means the game article is completed in its highest degree. This game starts at stage 0 which means it's starts at the basic stage and it will take a ton of time until it reaches stage 4. In other words, if you check on the bottom of the main article title with the boxart which has category links, you might understand what I mean. Johnnyauau2000 07:05, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Not to shatter any illusions but this game is also made by High Voltage Software. I wonder if it's too late to add it? I mean yes this game is made by Snowblind Studios but how should I put it? Any game you start, the developers or publishers logo or both comes at the beginning before you go to a menu of the game. By the end of June, this company would finish The Conduit which is a sci-fi shooting game made for the Wii. So if you think it's a good idea, you can put it in. If not than that's ok. Johnnyauau2000 07:50, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

HoMMIII book and few questions about categorizing

Hi, I'd like to ask you a question about categorizing images - where spells/building images should go? Another thing, is should I upload the completely same images that where used with that spell in the game, or should I fix these bugs (I'm asking, as View Air/Earth has switched images (only in the spell book - otherwise their correct (checked))). Soeb 15:30, 7 June 2009 (UTC) (sorry, unsigned)

Censoring revisions

Seriously?. This feature was meant so that particularly bad things can be hidden (personal attacks, confidential info, etc.). It isn't supposed to be a tool to censor out everything "bad" that gets put into the site -- as long as it gets reverted 99.9% of the viewers won't even know about it. Those that are smart enough to go into the history to look at old revisions are probably mature enough to handle some vulgar language anyway.

My point is, don't be a G-rated site nazi, and use the tool responsibly instead of abusing it. --Skizzerz 15:46, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

If a revision is vandalism, it need not exist. If it is removed from the public eye, then the history also looks cleaner. We don't have a censorship policy as of yet, and I am not doing this because I feel a certain way towards the content of their edits (although I do tend to ignore censoring gibberish that excludes profanities...). I do feel that this should be used in a "censor all or none" fashion, but I don't think I should be doing that right now, so I will refrain from overly censoring until further consensus. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

LOL!

Just thought you'd get a kick out of this. The images aren't usable, but they'd be a good guide for a more professionally made map through Gimp or even Paint: http://www.geocities.jp/chester_field1987/ If you don't get around to it, I can eventually. Procyon 01:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Maplestory Mass Editing

TMNTII and TMNT AC

Hey bud. Just putting this out there, you can take me up on it, or pass on the suggestion and keep going. But my thoughts on these two games is that they are a lot like Green Beret; the NES game is essentially the Arcade game with a couple of added stages and poorer graphics. The way I set up that guide was to list all of the stages in the NES version, and link the footer navs to optionally skip the NES exclusive levels for those who are only interested in the arcade levels. On common levels, I used the arcade as the base for the guide, and added a "NES differences" section on the bottom, and the on NES exclusive levels, I described them just as I did for the arcade levels. If you think that the games are distinct enough, or it is simply easier to present them the way that you are, then by all means keep going with the separate guides. Catch you later. Procyon 14:19, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll get around to doing the arcade guide as well via the XBLA/MAME version. I played the demo last night, and just 10 minutes of gameplay shows a distinct amount of differences. I think it would be easier to work with if both guides were completed before trying to merge them. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:15, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Maple Story experience table

About the Maple Story experience table on MapleStory/Stats: As stated before, the values I put in were just estimates which are very close to the actual amount. That's is why I deleted most of the cumulative values (so in case one value is wrong, the 199 other values won't have to be re-edited). This is only until all of the values in the table are completely correct. However, if you want, I can put the estimated cumulative values back on the experience table. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by VNBoy94 (talkcontribs) .

June-July competition

Me too, Curse of Monkey Island is hilarious. It also feels like one of the few guides I could actually get to completion stage 4. I still have my old PC and am planning on hooking it up just so I can play that game again twice while gathering screenshots of everything. I can't define how annoyed I was yesterday finding out how the fancy Vista using computer was absolutely not compatible with it.

You have great timing though since there is something I wanted to try to plot out with someone else that is familiar with the game. The harder difficulty (mega monkey challenge I think) simply requires more specific and complicated solutions. If someone wants to play through twice on both difficulties trying to get as far as they can without help it may be bad to have the harder solutions out in the open. It can be seen as a super spoiler and once the solution has been read it can't be unread (this exact thing happened to me when I was stuck).

I was thinking we should either use something that would conceal it like the clue template or let the user choose their setting at the top of the screen like the control selector template (I'm swaying towards the second example). How do you think we should go about it? --Zaiqukaj 08:37, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Image question

The image indicates that the player is located in Black Road which is not in Rien. Aran intro

Though, Black Road is related to Aran. (the past) --Spadow 02:01, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Image question

It takes place in the past. In the introduction video, you are Lev. 200 equipped with powerful gear. Here's a short summary about it:

You are a Legend, Helena (the girl) asks you to find the lost child, when you found the lost child you give it back to Helena, but you also see that Helena is about to leave to Victoria Island (evacuating the area before the Black Magician appears) and asks you to come with her before the Black Magician will come.

The Legend is determined to defeat the Black Magician with his colleagues, but the Black Magician is stronger and manages to put a seal on you. The seal is a curse which you get trapped in the ice for a very long time.

You finally wake up from a voice of a girl (Lilin), she is part of the Rien Clan. The Rien Clan has been waiting for the hero to return. (you are the hero) Unfortunately, you have lost all your abilities and memories, but Lilin wants to help you to regain those back. --Spadow 08:57, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, the quest reward for completing the Beyond the Ruins is 1,000,000,000 EXP and 1,000,000,000 Mesos.

Sandbox ToC

Hey, I think the double-column layout should be replaced in favor of single column due to the whitespace it creates when only one is expanded and the unevenness between the two when both are expanded. For future ToCs (if it turns out we can do collapsible elements in there), we might want to think about using tables instead of divs to cure some of these problems. If rows were collapsible/expandable, we wouldn't have the unevenness problems. — najzereT 16:05, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Ahaha

Those Chester Field dungeon maps look like they were drawn on a napkin with a crayon. I just realized I don't think I have the japanese regional language pack installed on my computer because the characters at http://www.geocities.jp/chester_field1987/ look like "¡Ö¥Á¥§¥¹¥¿¡¼¥Õ¥£¡¼¥ë¥É¡¡°Å¹õ¿À¤Ø¤ÎÄ©Àï¡×¤ò¹¶Î¬¤·¤¿¤¤¿Í¤Ø" (directly copied from the first line) to me.

I could use the help, I didn't really mean to start the guide lol. I stumbled upon this game earlier today and I made the main game page at completion stage 1 instead of zero, so I felt inclined to fill it in a little. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:31, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

This page doesn't have the encoding set correctly. To correct this go to View>Character Encoding and choose the appropriate entry (most pages need "Japanese (Shift_JS)", but some need "Japanese (EUC_JP)" instead). GarrettTalk 22:19, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

I've yelled at people for copying things off here a lot of times but it never seems to get through. It's hard to do when you don't have anything to threaten them with. I can try again but I feel like I don't get anywhere.--IsaacGS 08:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Rygar boss health.

Hi NMH. That's a great suggestion but, unfortunately, it's not very straightforward. Each boss has some defense level, and the player's "Tone" stat increases throughout the game, and the number of hits required to defeat a boss (or any enemy) is some mathematical formula comparing the enemy's defense stat to the player's Tone stat. The more Tone a player has, the fewer hits it takes to defeat a boss. So since a player could theoretically be at any Tone from 30 to 4096, it's a little hard to indicate how many hits are required to kill the boss.  :( If you have any ideas, let me know. future tokyo on TMS

Hi. Don't do changes that you are not 100% sure. Yes, Spadow posted the link but you didn't even bother to look into it. There is no single word or picture from the expansion. Next time check the link, please. I don't think the expansion will be implemented to ohter versions than japanese one, becouse it is still full of bugs. Vigilium 06:52, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I looked through the sprites and there isn't even a single sprite from expansion. Monsters from the expansion are: Imperial Guard, Royal Guard, the Aufheben trio, Chandelier, Dunas Unit and Braided Core. None of theme is on the website. It is the first Future Tokyo patch form JMS. Vigilium 09:38, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
You confuse Neo Tokyo (Kamuna, Odaiba, Akihabara, all the monsters shown at the website etc.) and Neo Tokyo Expansion (Shibuya, Roppongi Mall and all monsters that are not present on the website). All I'm saying is that there is no proof of Neo Tokyo Expansion on the website. Vigilium 22:00, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Question Concerning Numbers Next To Names

In the Recent Changes page, before someone's name there are numbers either green positive numbers or red negative numbers. What are those for? Is there a way to see an accumulation of these?

Sorry for the many questions. Couldn't find any of this anywhere on the site.

Majora's Mask.

I looked at the table of contents to this game and there's this title called "Adventurer's Guide to the Game" or whatever it's called. Do you know what that is? Is it needed for something? I have no idea what that red link page is there for. I can't delete something I don't know about so I'm left with this unanswered question. Well I try to delete the other page "Statistic Comparison" on Super Smash Bros Brawl but I guess the policy is once the page is made, it can not be deleted. So not going too far away from this, if you have any idea, let me know. Johnnyauau2000 04:45, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

MS Data Files

I spent the weekend updating my extractor to handle most of the new GMS encryption. Still can't handle everything (as shown by some of the missing descriptions), but it does a fair amount. I didn't have the chance to test images yet, but I'll try it out on the weekend. -- Prod (Talk) 05:57, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, I finished updating my extractor to now handle all strings, images, and music. I will have to do a full extract sometime to check that I'm not missing anything, but I'm not sure I want to put my computer through that. Next up is a map renderer, but I'm not sure if I'll get around to that this month. -- Prod (Talk) 06:41, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Maplestory.

I have one big curiousity. What's so special with this game? The reason is it's number one on popular guides on the main page. I've checked the recent changes and it must have a record of the most amount of edits than any other guides. This should be part of the Guinness Book of Records. I can't imagine a thousand edits on one page. Might not be true but it will be. Another thing which I've been asking myself since the internet began, how do the experts manage to put in game screenshots especially the PC screenshots? There must be some technology behind this or somehow the experts has gone crazy when it comes to connecting wires.

Well I need to alleviate myself on something so my curiousity gets the better of me. Personally in my life, I haven't played this game at all and I'm sure you haven't. If you have than there's nothing wrong with that. Johnnyauau2000 12:27, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey, is it all right if I take out the last line: "Consider this your first warning."? For the first time I just assume the user doesn't know not to do this, so I wouldn't want to hand out a "warning" (though obviously I count it as one if they continue). — najzereT 20:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:MapleStory/NPCs

Hello!

  • I have not known there is a list of all NPC here. I'm going to add them there, but I'm confuse now. Should I make it in a table or just write them down with hyperlinks? There are 2 different methods of doing so on the page.
  • I puted the japanese name in the second parameter of the template becouse I wanted it to be shown near the transletion ;p Most of japanese names in Future Tokio are written phonetically so it's hard to find an exact english equivalent. Japanese font in italics and bold looks unreadably (especially the kanji). So it will be moved to Notes section.

Vigilium 07:39, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

I have got most of images from JapanMS on my PC in my self-made database, so I can add them fast. The database is still far from completion, so sometimes I need to play with an extractor. Vigilium 11:24, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry. I was thinking about an english translation (the title in english is very long) and somewhat I totally forgot about that one. It's added now. Vigilium 16:21, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare.

I don't know which one to turn to either someone like you or in the staff lounge. The table of contents on that article looks almost one dimensional. The third column has the most amount of links when you scroll down the page. If you can rearrange it so that all three columns looks evenly matched up, then you have my compliments. I like to do it but in World at War, I wonder how you put the "Multiplayer" link in the middle? I haven't learned that yet. I'm still around the basics of editing. Johnnyauau2000 10:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Data

Hi, I use an extractor to gain MapleStory data. This way it's much easier for me to translate text. Skill data is not hard to understand, so setting up the skill tables were easy, and I also did it because it was incomplete.

I have a question for you. Since I'm working on the Medals page, is it possible for you to upload the images? Because I can't do it, since I will get warned again by Najzere. I have to say that GMS has around 70 medals plus the many new medals from KMS(T). JMS has exclusive medals as well, but I don't have JMS installed. --Spadow 11:31, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey, another question about the medals page. At the moment the page has a lot of text and no spaces. How can I make spaces and divide the medals in different parts, such as Basic/Job/Boss/Special/Donor etc?

Aran Mounts

Hello,

Yes, all the names are Ryu Ho. I think it's probably the same beast but growing stronger. I do not know how to obtain the other mounts except for the Lv. 50 one, when the Aran class was introduced in the test server, I only got the Lv. 100 Ryu Ho through Mr.Goldstein.

If I know, I'll change it.--Spadow 18:39, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I have worked on multiple pages including, Guns, Knuckles, Daggers, Claws, all of which took a lot of time and learning, when i came i didnt know much i picked everything up as i came.

As for the stat specific columns, I'm guessing the one you updated on the Polearms page with is the column I'm supposed to use? If so when what am i going to do with the other 4 pages i did, restart?Do i have to use that specific one, can i make a different one but similar?

As for the items i will now state that I'm getting them from HS in the images summary, i do not know how to delete them and i was planning on replacing the existing one(Images i do lats). I'm going to try and extract the data from Maplestory my self so that i could get the original and don't have to depend on HS but it will take some time.

The weapon attack listing stood for 20 being the default average Weapon attack the item would get and the possibilities are 17-23, so is could be anywhere between 17-23 but most of the time its 20.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience i caused for you and everyone else but i saw that no one else was doing it so i decided to do it with my free time, i started not knowing much and learning on my own and some help from the chat room, but i guess i still have a long way to go, if you feel that maybe what I'm doing isn't good or rather me not do it then please let me know i will stop updating the pages.Maybe you could explain the column format i should be using and anything else i should know, i more than willing to learn, i think i could do a good job and keep the pages updates frequently.

Thanks Manguo 151.202.102.120 20:46, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

I'm at odds with myself. How should I put this? I'm about to put the chapters in but the Act 1 and other chapters have so many sections and it would be worse to paint a picture of levels and enemies you have to get to. So which direction should I go through? Acts, sections or places? Or a combination of all three? I hate to have second thoughts but I should've put this into "Collaberation of the Month" instead but it's too late already. Anyway, take your time and answer me soon. Banning for multiple edits

Is this for real? Why would you ban someone for making good edits? As far as I know, spamming RC is a just a warnable offense, hence {{consolidate}}. Since his edits weren't rolled back, I'm assuming he wasn't vandalizing, so maybe you were just having a bad night or something? o_O — najzereT 15:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

I can't verify those edits, its an anon, and 24 hours is nothing. He'll be back. You can adjust the ban (or revoke it), no biggie. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:57, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

BrazilMS

In the latest patches page, I see that BrazilMS is getting Singapore in October, 4th job in November, Mu Lung in December.
Is there actual proof that they're getting this? --Spadow 21:19, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm not going to bother looking it up. I know that you are contesting the information that was previously on the templates, and that is acceptable. We have one or two BMS players who try to update that info (they may have provided the links in the past, but a brief skim of the page histories didn't uncover anything. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:23, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Main pages

Hi, please don't bold and italicize the game names on main pages. They're just supposed to be bolded. Also, the game's name elsewhere, other game names or links to games shouldn't be italicized either. Thanks, — najzereT 03:03, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Pets (Cash) page

Hi. Isn't it better to delete the Pets (Cash) page? Since there is already a Pets page.
I think it's stupid to have 2 pages talking about the same subject.--Spadow 18:54, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

One is for the items, one is for the pets themselves (which also covers summons and mounts, unrelated to the items). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:19, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, also I noticed you reverted the new Pink Bean image. Why? Most of the pets are uploaded with their 'stand' image frame. --Spadow 19:52, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Like I said, MapleStory/Pets (Cash) refers to the items. Therefore, the icon should be of the item, not the pet (pet info resides at MapleStory/Pets). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:53, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Template:MapleStory/Claw

Hello! I have a problem with the template. The new JapanMS claw (Exiled Lampion) has got the same icon as Night Raven's Claw. I tried to use the Alternate Picture parameter but I don't know how does it work. Vigilium 18:32, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Something's really weird with that template, but I don't know what it is. For some reason it's treating the pipe in the image link as a new cell divider, even though it's not on a separate line. For now you'll have to use 10=filename.ext to make it work. The same goes for changing the image size (11=imagesizepx). — najzereT 19:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

MapleStory category

Hi, I was wondering why 'korean=' doesn't work. I was looking at this page, and I tried replacing the Japanese with Korean. (since MapleStory originated from South Korea)
But it wouldn't work.--Spadow 22:08, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

"korean=" represents the name of a parameter, but we never created one for Korean or any other languages besides Japanese and English. Don't worry about the infobox, just put the info in the area where it says "Games from the MapleStory series". You can change that statement around, but if you put the korean name I can help clean it up. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:57, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Footer Nav

Hello. I wanted to let you know that I added all correct footer navs for a lot of towns (Ossyria & World Tour) since I saw a few missing in the Town checklist page. --Spadow 20:55, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Feel free to update the checklist. I will get around to it eventually. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Sentence case

You recently left a rather uninformed message on a user's talk page about the proper capitalization of lines in the form of:

  • Something: Something about it.

You said that the word immediately after the colon should not be capitalized as it is part of a sentence, but this is incorrect. The way we use bolding in lists such as these is as a mini-heading and in most cases a complete sentence cannot be made with or without the colon. For instance, from MapleStory/Towns/Crimsonwood Keep:

  • Availability: only available in GlobalMS

As you can see, "Availability only available in GlobalMS" is not a valid sentence, and not capitalizing "only" won't make it so. In fact, I'm of the opinion that since these are more often than not, not sentences, the word immediately following the colon should be capitalized, and this is how I form lists of this nature all the time. Just like headings and page names which use "sentence case", this same formatting should be applied to the list item following its bolded heading. If you prefer lowercase for some reason, that's fine, as it is more of a style issue, but I'd suggest you don't mislead other editors or change an existing style on a page in an effort to adhere to an inaccurate grammatical rule. — najzereT 21:28, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Firstly, nowhere on the Crimsonwood Keep page does the exact string "only available in GlobalMS" appear (it appears as "Availability: only GlobalMS."). Secondly, I agree with you, I used to do it that way (back in '07) until others made the "sentence case" policy more stringent, at which time the colon represented a continuation rather than a separation between the list topic (bolded term) and the proceeding information. I find it justified either way (one standard, and one jerry-rigged), but perhaps we should change things back to the old, normal way. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:59, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, you're right, that quote was copied from a diff in Spadow's user contributions, so it must have been changed since then. At any rate, I've been thinking a good deal about creating a manual of style for the wiki, and I've only been stopped by not having worked up the stomach to face the inevitable resistance I'd meet. I've been asked recently by an editor where they can find our manual of style, and I've noted that there is not an entirely uniform application of existing styles by users or administrators, so I do think it would be helpful. If we could come to a consensus (a tall order, I know) about how to manage lists, tables, quotes, bolding, italics, dates, etc., it would make for a good reference for all editors, give us criteria on which to judge future Featured Guide nominees and help us (admins) dispense the same information when helping users. Of course this goes against the laissez-faire attitude I've largely encountered here, but someday I might start a serious campaign for it. — najzereT 16:36, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
The problem is that we need to find evidence (a manual for English grammar) before being able to justify one policy decision over another. I've briefly tried finding info on the colon issue brought up above, but it's difficult without having some sort of accurate term to use in a search. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:45, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
This is a pretty minor issue, but it seems to represent a more widespread problem across SW. I think that Naj is right that we need some sort of Manual of Style. On the one hand, I like being able to write the way I like (for example, I prefer headings and subheadings to be like book titles, capitalizing most important words rather than sentence style like we have it). But on the other hand, if we're going to have more stringent policies in one case and not in another, something needs to change. I think a Manual of Style would be a good addition and Naj, if you want to go for it, I'll support you. In this specific case, I tend to agree with Naj's perspective on the capitalization. If that's how it used to be and something changed, I'd say it needs to go back.--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 19:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
@Notmyhandle: We can largely borrow from Wikipedia's Manual of Style, although they go into greater consideration than I think we ought to. Our manual of style would be useful to catalogue common styles found throughout the wiki and to which we could add any further issues as they come up, such as formatting a bulleted list and whatnot. Though Wikipedia doesn't have a guideline for our particular case of using colons with bolded list items, it can be inferred that the rule for complete sentences wouldn't apply to fragments like ours.
@Dukeruckley: I can't say where we got the idea to do sentence case (from Wikipedia I suppose?), and it's always seemed awkward to me as well, though I'm by now very used to it. I'm not overly concerned with what exactly is the style guideline so much as that we have one everyone can use consistently, but I do prefer the use of correct grammar and, whenever possible, to agree with Wikipedia's styles.
najzereT 20:32, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I believe DrBob is the primary proponent of sentence case, but I'd like to hear from the other bureaucrats (primarily because they might have logs of the discussion) before implementing a "new" and official standard. As far as I remember, the main reason sentence case came into play was with headers. I originally argued for camel case headers ("The Dog Sat"). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:17, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Dracula disambiguation page

Hi, could you look at Dracula (disambiguation) and fix any of the Bram Stoker's Dracula links? Also while you're in there, what are your thoughts on the Castlevania section? Just link to the category? Just use the blue links that are actual page names? — najzereT 06:42, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Done. Now that I've added a link to the category, I think the Castlevania section is acceptable. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:41, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

CV needs moar redirects

lol, just kidding around, but in all seriousness, at least one of the multiple Japanese name redirects that you added should be a fully categorized redirect, in that it is the official title of the game as it is known in Japan, and should therefore show up in Games and Castlevania and any other pertinent console cats. Would you agree? Procyon 16:01, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Ahah yeah I was all psyched about redirecting all of those combinations. Hm... I didn't redirect most of the actual Japanese titles. Oh well, someone who is deeply interested in those games will do it when the guides are complete. But seriously, as per our policy, yes I agree. Unfortunately, when I was making those pages as well as writing this message, instructions for categorizing redirects didn't exist. I've added it to StrategyWiki:Guide/Categorization. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:30, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
