Super Mario World Imaging

sorry to bother you about this, but the Super Mario World Map Images I'm putting on the page are too long to put on the site itself, and if they were resized that much, you wouldn't be able to see things that may be important. Wouldn't it just be easier to make a seperate web-page so you can zoom onto it? - Some Guy Named Moe 13:55, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

About creating KoreaMS Patch info page

Hi Prod. I think that it would be good if the Latest KoreaMS Patch info is in StrategyWiki. I can translate it to English. How do you think about it? Or maybe the latest patch information for every version? - Wkkim9292 22:45, 2 April 2007 (CDT)

Hey prod, sorry to bug you. sorry about that contributors page on the GSC main. I just wanted to put a link showing the names of the main cintributors. do you know where i could put it, and if i could, how could i generate such a page properly? Peace out, God Bless.

The only thing that crosses over is the link on Act IV to go to the Act V page, noted as expansion only. When you click the link you'll be placed on a d2 lod page with the lod AGN. 007

Thanks. However, the differences, both in gameplay and even the levels are fundamentally different. I would suggest a move for console and PC, because that's where the differences lie. bibliomaniac15 22:25, 16 April 2007 (CDT)

If you look at the Prima's official guide for Nightfire, you'll see that they devote different sections to console and PC. The console has more weapons and levels, while the PC is heavily abridged (the console intro level was cut, along with driving scenes and other scenes that could have made the game a whole lot better). Most of the weapons are shared, but some have different looks, alternate fires, and types while others aren't even there. The problem with most guides I read for the PC Nightfire is that they assume that the console and PC versions are the same, which is very much false. bibliomaniac15 17:39, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Sure. Are you going to create subpages, or just regular sections? bibliomaniac15 19:46, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

Template:MapleStory/Monster

Some people have said they're looking for other factors and info about the monsters, like Avoid and such. Being an archer i've never need to worry about my accuracy or the monster's avoidability, but for some jobs that's a big deal. The difference between hitting and missing for a warrior can be one point in the avoid area. What do you think about adding Avoid to the monster's stats? Another stat of interest might be Knockback, the amount of damage required to make a monster flinch. I'm not sure how to go about adding it to the template without messing things up. IsaacGS 12:59, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

All of those stat data are in the .wz so it's not a problem. It'll take a while to go through and update the templates but it shouldn't be that bad. Low level monsters almost always have knockbacks of 1. For some monsters that's what makes them unique, like Jr. Necki. JMS exp, eh, so far the guide is for every version, despite the fact that it's in english. On the other hand, it could simply be stated on the main monster page that JMS has a 1.25 native exp Boost. I'll leave it up to you as to whether to remove it or leave it. Unfortunately for a number of monsters, particularly ones not released in Global yet, the EXP listed is actually for JMS. it may be a bit confusing. IsaacGS 13:30, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
The advantage of this is we've got monsters they don't, in addition to the fact that they're severely backlogged at the moment. I'm not talking about adding in all the stats like WDEF/MDEF/WATK/MATK, just avoid and maybe KB. Avoid can help warriors and others plan how much accuracy they'll need when an area is expected to come out. IsaacGS 13:47, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
Best order, to me, seems to go like this:
  • Name
  • Attributes (Undead, Boss, etc.)
  • Level
  • HP
  • MP
  • Avoid
  • KB
  • EXP
the down side of this is it'll change the template now so that the EXP will become the avoid and we'd have to go through moving it down. IsaacGS 14:12, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
I guess so, as long as we note, maybe at the top of each page, that JMS has higher EXP rates. I gotta go now so i guess we can finish this later. IsaacGS 14:21, 21 April 2007 (CDT)
I'm almost finished, i got all the way up to the 111+ page but when i was almost finished the browser crashed >_<. It's particularly annoying because the HornTail ones I have to look up on my own which takes much longer. PS -

Kimnbruce is a vandal, has made up a ton of fake edits that I have reverted throughout the day. IsaacGS 23:52, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

It's a special Beta client i downloaded from a link at the Adventures in JMS forums. IsaacGS 20:29, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
This is pretty tricky. :p I opened up the Map data i had extracted from the regular JMS client, and then the Map data i extracted from the Beta Server client, and then hit Ctrl + A, selecting all the beta folders. Then i dragged them to the regular JMS folder. It asked if i wanted to overwrite, and every time i told it no. This caused all the new areas to be placed at the end. Then i moved them to a separate folder. Did the same for the monster data. IsaacGS 22:20, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
Here's some info i collected on the Lich:

The Lich is a Bot-Catching monster. "If you hit it, you get teleported to another map immediately. To announce its spawn, a Macro-Detector pops up (The Lie Detector thing). Also, the chat window tells you that it spawned.

To get rid of it, you can drop a Zombie's Lost Tooth on a tombstone that's there. Then it turns into a chained box. You can now either kill the Lich, or break the box to kill it. I think it's a good idea. Woo!" It's name in Korean is 리치 Lv.??. Even the Koreans didn't list what level it is... IsaacGS 20:27, 24 April 2007 (CDT)

The Lich can be defeated after hitting a Tombstone located on the map. The 1800 thing is probably the respawn time. Do you know what its avoid is after that? IsaacGS 21:03, 24 April 2007 (CDT)
Ok, i guess there's nothing we can do about it now. Would it be possible for you to extract from the tamingmob.wz a picture of the Red Draco (Level 200 mount)? IsaacGS 22:34, 24 April 2007 (CDT)
Ah, i forgot XD. Oh well, I'm sure it'll make its way to JMS soon enough since they have so many 200's. IsaacGS 20:25, 25 April 2007 (CDT)
I Finally got TaiwanMS installed and there's a veritable jackpot of bizarre new monsters, particularly a number of bosses. Take a look at what i've added. IsaacGS 16:16, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
I really want the list to include every monster that's ever been in any version of the game. Keep it the most complete list possible. Having the event monsters on a separate page is still a good idea, since so many people want to see them and their stats, but i'd like to keep them in the main list too. -- IsaacGS 19:41, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
Eh, ok, i'm convinced. I guess it's best to remove them from the real sections. (MY CMS download was disrupted and i had to start over :( 13 hours? O_O) IsaacGS 20:04, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
I think they're all gone now. -- IsaacGS 20:25, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

Re: Table Problems

Okay, I've put up a little sketch of an idea of my new improved idea of the weapons table should look like on Final Fantasy XII/Weapons. Feel free to clean it up or turn it into a table as you wish, as I have pretty much no experience on how to make a template, let alone a templatey-tabley thing that I kinda used the table in Shadowrun (Genesis) as a basis on. Considering that I had only a vague notion of what I was doing, I reckon it went pretty well. :-P --Froglet 09:18, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

FC Twin

Hi Prod. I wasn't sure what to do with that page when I saw Moe create it either. I let it be because I couldn't think of a better solution. I'm not sure if turning it into a Category was the best idea. I don't foresee any game being categorized under FC Twin, namely because every game that could be categorized as such would already be categorized as NES or SNES. And I certainly don't want to go back through all of the NES and SNES games and add an FC Twin Category since it would result in only a minimal benefit to anyone. I'm just not sure what else to do with it. I was even willing to argue that it and other hardware clones fall outside of the scope of SW, but then theoretically, someone could argue the same about my MAME guide ^_^; Anyway, I'm not sure what to suggest. I only know that Moe's Pocketstation guide is extremely inaccurate, and I'll probably go through and fix it at some point... Procyon (Talk) 09:19, 1 May 2007 (CDT)

SMI crack

Hey Prod, what name do you propose for Image:SMI crack.png? I can re-upload the image and try to mark the old one for deletion. —Shido 01:09, 4 May 2007 (CDT)

I think Image:The Secret of Monkey Island crack may be a good name. I took a look at StrategyWiki:Guide/Images#Uploading, and it said:
The name of the image is important. This is an example of a wrong image name:
The image name should be, if possible, a good description of whatever the image is depicting, preceded by a recognisable acronym of the game name. For instance an image for Monster World IV would be named MW4 <description here>.
Since the abbreviation for The Secret of Monkey Island is SMI, I chose that. If StrategyWiki is particularly picky about an image name’s ambiguity, perhaps I should name the image Image:The Secret of Monkey Island crack oars (although “crack oars” sounds strange when it is said), in case another editor wants to take a screenshot of another crack for whatever reason. What do you think? —Shido 01:39, 4 May 2007 (CDT)

Re: Templates

Just as a warning, don't put headers (== ==) in templates, it messes up the edit links. Rather than allowing you to edit the section in the page the template is used, the edit link will lead you to the template itself. -- Prod (Talk) 08:21, 18 May 2007 (CDT)

I understand that the Introduction is assumed in most articles, but I felt that it looked better in the Spectrobes/Daichi article. I would like to know what you think of re-adding it. I think it looks better with the intro. Sincerely, Myth 11:29, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

To answer your question about the walkthrough section being so short, this is the answer: The Planet Kollin is a complete walkthrough of the planet, Genshi is very incomplete (I hope to get to this soon), Daichi is also incomplete but growing, and the rest are either empty or don't even exist (for Nessa, if you've beaten the game, or gotten to a certain point, you can't go back, so it will be incredibly hard to find someone who can effectively write the walkthrough for that). The answer to your second question is yes, I do expect almost all of them to continue growing (even if most of it is done by me) and I hope I can devote more time to the completion of Spectrobes!! Sincerely, Myth 11:50, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Re-did Spectrobes/Kollin introduction

I do no think there is anything particularly wrong with the section you wrote, however, I liked it better the way it was, for one main reason; the shops really have nothing to do with the introduction, and deserve a small section since they do not appear under a title. Sincerely, Myth 12:45, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

All you do is make a link to the subpage, or type then name of the subpage into the url of your browser and if it doesn't exist, just click edit on that page (it may come up to an edit prompt anyways) and then type something and save it, voila. {{Continue Nav}}

I really don't see why you are so opposed to having the nojump parameter in the Continue Nav. While it doesn't have any widespread need as of yet (and probably won't), it can serve a purpose on the few guides with the potential to utilize it (I can think of Shadow the Hedgehog off the top of my head, having a Footer Nav would not work at all in that guide). The template has a nextpage, a nextpage2, and a custom parameter for use outside of a game's main page (even though it does explicitly state on the page that it is used in main pages, it doesn't mean it can't be used elsewhere). Besides, without adding the documentation for it, it would only add one parser function and 23 characters to the template, which does not seem very complex at all (it is like the onepage parameter on the HN, where it doesn't display the link when it is on, and it does when it is off). Please explain your reasoning why we should not have that parameter. Thanks. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:38, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

MapleStory/Monsters/Pets

Hey, been a while. I was looking for some equips in the data (Of JMS) the other day and I stumbled across some new pets that have yet to be released. I uploaded them and put them into the pets page just recently, but I'm wondering, is there a way to make the width of the table columns a little more uniform? as you can see right now they're all over the place, and it gets worse the further down the page you go (Just look at golden pig, for some reason it takes up nearly half the page). The thought of using the monster template had occurred to me but since pets don't really have that many stats it would seems kinda wasteful. What are your thoughts? --IsaacGS 02:38, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Sorry, I keep calling it abxy.net, but it's abxy.org. Sorry ^_^ Myth 23:50, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

SC: Brood War ToC

Why do we need StarCraft's Walkthrough and a link to the Brood War main page in the Brood War ToC? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:52, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

Lol I didn't even stop to think that it was affecting the SC ToC as well. But what do you mean delete it off the main page? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:57, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

Talk:MapleStory

Hello Prod. The Talk Page for MapleStory now has more than 40 discussions and I think it needs to be cleaned up. Currently, I don't know how to put the old discussions in to an archive. I expect that you know how to do it. Could you please help cleaning up the MapleStory Talk Page? - Wkkim9292 17:35, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
