Subpaging details

Thank you for letting me know, I'm still learning so mistakes are bound to happen. I do admit sometimes I'm uncertain if some sections should remain on their front pages or not. For the sake of making sure we all have proper records of what came from where here is a list of anything that has been vague recently:

  • These were all subpaged from their front pages: Metal Storm, The Immortal, Radiata Stories/Easter Eggs, Radiata Stories/skills, Snowboard Kids Plus, SBK: Snowboard Kids/Modes, Snowboard Kids 2, Sonic R, Mach Rider
  • These were subpaged from thier walkthrough pages: Turok 3, and Anachronox
  • The information on the Fable/Spells came from the attributes page
  • The controls now in Super Mario 64/Controls came from getting started
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets/Getting Started had a duplicate of info found in the characters and spells/potions sections. I read both versions to scan for any diffirences. What little was diffirent was added to their proper pages and the duplicates on Getting started were taken out.

I'm also planning on slowly chipping away at proof reading and subpaging the rest of Radiata Stories and Anachronox. They both seem to have complete walkthroughs but desperately need to be sorted out. --Zaiqukaj 03:01, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Let me know if you want me to do this for anything older than these. It is pretty easy for me to see where the subpaging comes from since the page everything comes from is edited last as the now duplicate info is taken out. I stuck to pretty safe decisions this batch of subpaging so there are only 2 things I think may be wrong.
  • There is a chance the info in Sonic R/Walkthrough should have simply been an items page. The walkthrough pages seem to assume the player already understands what the items are there for. Kind of a prerequisite for understanding.
  • In the Radiata stories guide I just stuck with the term "Easter Eggs" for the list of odd lil things you can find. There are a ton of strange little details and quirks hidden in the game so giving it a page seemed ok. I'm just curious if we have a standard term for that.
Here are a few questions as well. Should I also be stating my source when working on the infoboxes? I always use wikipedia for this. I just noticed the new way ToCs are being formatted. It is pretty snazy. Would it be helpful for the cleanup project if I went through the guides updating them to use the the col and h2 templates in the ToCs? --Zaiqukaj 02:10, 19 November 2007 (CST)

Showing my gratitude

Thank you very much for your help. Since of your help, I have been able to revise it with ease. However, I been reading the guide and it seems such a bumper that I don't understand half of it. By the way how did you do it with the link? You told me earlier not to use the categories, but how did the new page appear all of a sudden. This is really confusing for me so if you can help please. Thanks once again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vom53 (talkcontribs) .

Copyvio

Honestly I have no idea how I happend to delete that copyvio. I did not do it on purpose, but since I was cleaning up the Wind Slayer pages a little today it must have slipped somehow (though I realy don't know how) ... so sorry 'bout that, I undid the changes and thanks for noticing... --Bmuig 11:51, 27 May 2008 (CDT) (talk)

X (Game Boy game)

Hey Prod, what do you think of this title? Does it merit change? There is no other system that ever used the name "X" for any of their games, so technically, it doesn't require disambiguation in it's name. At the very least, it could be shortened to "X (Game Boy)" if the parentheses really lend anything to the title, distinguishing it from anything else X related. Procyon (Talk) 13:01, 27 May 2008 (CDT)

Deadend pages

So I was asking on IRC, and one idea I got from a person there: perhaps the special pages haven't been updated? That could be the issue that's causing the two pages to appear in deadend still. RobJ1981 03:53, 29 May 2008 (CDT)

The same two pages appear on Special:Uncategorizedpages (despite them having categories), and it's been that way for weeks now. Whatever is wrong with these seems to be far-reaching... GarrettTalk 05:47, 29 May 2008 (CDT)

You keep missing me

MrSmartGuy

The edits are mostly constructive, as a lot of the areas in the training guide aren't really practical training spots these days. I probably wouldn't have removed any of them, but I agree that all the ones he removed were not as useful in the modern environment. Sorry it took so long to get back but I was out of town all weekend until now.--IsaacGS 20:21, 1 June 2008 (CDT)

Oops, I was afraid that I might have messed one of those up. It's fixed now.--IsaacGS 00:18, 4 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: Fist of the North Star

Which game gets the honour of taking that page? (and Hokuto no Ken for that matter). -- Prod (Talk) 00:37, 6 June 2008 (CDT)

I'd say have both redirect to the category. I don't know much about this series, but it looks like it's basically a tie. GarrettTalk 00:46, 6 June 2008 (CDT)
Previous discussions were that you only redirect if no game uses that name. Only use disambig if the original name is taken. In the case of ties, pick the more popular one, otherwise the first one. -- Prod (Talk) 00:55, 6 June 2008 (CDT)
Well, it's complicated. The first Hokuto no Ken was localised as Black Belt, which would be the name used here. Hokuto no Ken (Famicom) is the next to use the name but was not localised. The first to use Fist of the North Star is the localisation of Hokuto no Ken (Famicom)'s sequel. GarrettTalk 02:30, 6 June 2008 (CDT)

Lunar Lander

It's really a footnote in video game history, it's barely a game. After the first 5000 came out of production, Atari started to convert the rest to Asteroids. I'm on the fence concerning the Vector category. It's not incredibly useful, but it is kind of interesting. I could take it or leave it. I'll leave that one up to everyone else. Procyon (Talk) 08:50, 17 June 2008 (CDT)

Control template.

I don't know about control template, if you revert it, can you teach me at the same time? I'm only here for less than six months and I only know button template but not control template. It will be helpful so I'll have less difficulty when dealing with an old page into a page with multiple chioces. Johnnyauau2000 10:42, 20 June 2008 (CDT)

Thanks, it will be a bit of training until I'll get use to it. If there is anything else I need to know just put it on my talk page and I'll try to improve on it. Johnnyauau2000 11:03, 20 June 2008 (CDT)

Redirecting pages...

I feel a bit embarassed to be asking this after being part of SW for quite a long time... but what do you do to redirect pages? im trying to redirect misspellings and similar words to their correct articles. how would I do it? thanks in advance. Peace out, God bless. Halosonic 09:00, 24 June 2008 (CDT)

It's fairly simple. Just type in: " #REDIRECT [[newname]]".--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 08:32, 26 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: Ports

If there are new features that require more pages be added to the original ToC, I think it deserves its own main page. -- Prod (Talk) 16:05, 28 June 2008 (CDT)

The additions sound even more minor than the GBA version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which has its changes covered on the same ToC. I'd argue it's still the same game in these cases as well. GarrettTalk 16:12, 28 June 2008 (CDT)

Re: Platform/Platforms/systems

I was using platforms since that's what wikipedia uses. If you have a better reason let me know. I'd like to deprecate one of the uses. -- Prod (Talk) 00:41, 6 July 2008 (CDT)

The same term should be used for the parameter as well as the resulting template; Wikipedia uses "platforms" for both, while the infobox here uses "System(s)". "Platform" is perhaps the more technically accurate term to encompass things like Steam and Windows (which don't have dedicated hardware), but outside Wikipedia it's far less common (for example, the Google hits for "game platforms" are insignificant compared to "game systems"). Companies often refer to a product as a "system" (Sega Master System, Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Super System, etc.), further reinforcing this use. GarrettTalk 02:23, 6 July 2008 (CDT)
My opinion is that we should go by the more accurate technical term, since editors can either copy it from wikipedia, or look at other examples. Visitors should be able to figure it out based on usage. Which do you prefer? -- Prod (Talk) 11:57, 6 July 2008 (CDT)
My preference is "systems", for the reasons given above. GarrettTalk 23:33, 6 July 2008 (CDT)

Needcontrols on Legend of Legaia/Arts

Did you place the template there to change all the arrows to DPad controls? I actually tried that at first and thought it looked too confusing in this context. Having the whole DPad image makes it harder to figure out what direction comes next in a long string of directions (such as 8 or 9 in a row). If you are referring to battle controls in general (i.e. how to input that), I figured that belonged on its own controls page.--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 08:06, 17 July 2008 (CDT)

That looks a lot better than the DPad for the PS, though I still think the arrows look best in the end. Is there a specific reason you want that changed?--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 06:10, 18 July 2008 (CDT)

RE: gallery vs. tables

Is it okay if I switch back to the table view? Asthetically, the gallery oesn't look as good. I was hoping to add a lot of pictures to the walkthoughs, but I want to make it look good.

Tedious rules

This site's editors and illogical, irrational rules are starting to get a incredibly tedious.

In two weeks I have nearly 1000 edits, and have added over 400 images. I have spent dozens of hours adding material to this site, material, I might add, which is found no where else on the internet or in print.

I even bought a TV tuner for my computer so I could take photos of the game and was thinking of investing in even better tuner to add more photos for this site. Every photo goes through a 5 step process before getting online. Thats a lot of invested time.

I was planning on using flash so I could make several new maps, similar to this flash map.

I was looking forward to the 2 new zombie games, so I could add material here too.

Instead of congratulations and thanks, all I get is reprimanded, repeatedly. It is getting really old, really fast.

Based on the "thats the way it is always done, and so here is the door if you don't like it" response which I have gotten from several editors, I can already guess your response, so I will start looking for another wiki to post my edits.Travb 15:56, 19 July 2008 (CDT)

thanks Prod. I will stick around. I enjoy working with you. Thanks for surprising me with your kind, diplomatic response. Travb 16:24, 19 July 2008 (CDT)

Yoshi's Story = Mario?

I've got a quick question. Should Yoshi's Story be put in the Mario category? It is the sequel and prequel to Yoshi's Island and YIDS (respectfully). But of course, there is the problem that Mario isn't in it at all, even though it is a sequel to a Mario game. Sorry for bothering you again.

Re: Image Names

I was just thinking of trying to further categorize the images so that they're easier to find for my own sake, 'cause I don't exactly have an easy time memorizing file names. =P Sometimes I go into the categories to find the name of the image I want (especially since I sometimes have to do mass-uploads) and...stuff. Yeah. So I suppose I could change it, but it's just a bigger pain for me, that's all. I just need to find a system of uploading files that works.

As an example, I can't remember if it's CNC, or CnC, or C&C. Or if it had a 3 at the end. >.> The other big problem are plurals. Can't often remember if it was "DropPod" or "DropPods"...you get the idea. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 08:03, 24 July 2008 (CDT)

MrSue

Did you ban him permanently? I realized now he stole my writing for the Kane's Wrath units, specifically the Hammerhead gunship article. It was originally in with the ordinary GDI units, but I deleted it since you told me to keep the original and expansion units seperate. Now he's copied my own text and, since he's reposted it as his, is essentially taking my work and claiming it as his own. Unless there's some kind of rule saying that my writing is in the open the moment it gets put on Strategywiki, ain't that a copy violation? --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 10:58, 31 July 2008 (CDT)

The question really is "Does attribution apply to content copied from within the site, to the site?" and the answer is yes. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:18, 31 July 2008 (CDT)
Skizzerz explained it to me in IRC, so it makes sense. But still, shouldn't there be some kind of attribution to me rather than someone else simply copying what I wrote in a previous version? --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 18:01, 31 July 2008 (CDT)
Yes, your name goes in the history. Lets say instead of MrSue the culprit was me - I've done this where I copy/move something and forget to add the names of the original page/content creators. However this isn't a problem because one of us can easily add your name to the credit/history list in an edit summary. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:58, 31 July 2008 (CDT)

Link anywhere on the page

This is the code which does not work on this wiki:

<span id="LINKNAME"></span>

On other wiki's you can add that code and then link to the section:

[[#LINKNAME| ]]

With this code, pages which you don't like how I use <h1></h1> or == == to create links to each name, such as in the Dead Rising/Survivors table, would be fixed.

In addition the <span id="LINKNAME"></span> creates no edit link. Travb 08:47, 6 August 2008 (CDT)

Star Fox 2

Hi, I'm currently working on this game guide and I saw that you suggested that the bosses be moved into the walkthrough section. It could be done, but I would prefer not to, because since this is a sort of sandbox game (in a way) I was going to go into the gameplay rules in there just mentioning game elements like enemies or bosses when they appeared, etc. and the going more in detail in the subpages. The walkthrough section(which would more appropriately be called gameplay) will contain quite some info once I'm done with it and the bosses section appears small now but there are more bosses than that and I will put images for each too, so I also fear it may be too much to put in one section. Let me know what do you think

(but anyway I'll remove the tag because that tag is to split the section even further, and I think that's not what you mean, if you still think it should be merged I think you should put the merge tag and bring it up on the discussion page ; ) )

~ Galaxy 02:15, 26 August 2008 (CDT)

Hi, well yes, if by levels you mean the planetary bases, they will be in the 'Planets' section eventually with images and a mini walkthrough explaining how to get to the end of them (maybe even maps in the future). But because of the nature of the game enemies are also "levels" in a way, what I mean is that in a RPG for example you have the main game game line and enemies are just a side part of it, in this game however the missions are assigned when you confront and enemy group at least in space. That is also why I decided to put 'enemies' and 'bosses' sections under 'Walkthrough' instead of 'Apendices' like some other guides do. ~ Galaxy 21:06, 26 August 2008 (CDT)

I have thought about that, and I could be done that way but I am not sure it's the best option, because Land Bosses are in specific levels in specific difficulty levels, but Space Bosses are not in specific places. I also wanted to have the sections with clean distinctions, what i mean is that if I put Land Bosses on Planets, then that would leave Space Bosses by themselves, because they are not planets, if you rename planets into levels, as i said, enemies and missiles are also "levels". What I had in mind is giving the walkthrough for the land levels in 'Planets' referring to the bosses section whenever you had to face them, that way also works when you are only searching for the way to defeat a specific boss without having to look for it in the middle of the planet walkthroughs, or when you follow a link from the word 'boss' from another page. ~ Galaxy 21:22, 26 August 2008 (CDT)

That's fine, as you say, it can easily be moved in the future when the sections are more complete, thanks ; ) ~ Galaxy 22:07, 26 August 2008 (CDT)

---

Hi, I saw that you changed some formatting I did in Star Fox 2/Getting Started using 'div style="float:right; padding-left:1em"', I used that to put the Toc to the right to save space, and I also used it with the image so it could be on the right just besides the Toc, it was the only method I found to do that. I reverted the image formatting because I don't think it looks good to the left, but I also noticed that though you made the Toc stay to the right with 'floatingtoc', the problem is that the text makes contact with it because it doesn't have padding, unless you know how to put padding, I'm going to revert it as it was. This method is also used by other guides like Ocarina of Time anyway. Thanks ~ Galaxy 12:09, 30 August 2008 (CDT)

Wouldn't it be better if 'floatingtoc' had a bit more padding? ~ Galaxy 12:32, 30 August 2008 (CDT)
Well, looking at the padding that other objects have like image boxes or Infoboxes it is more like at least 1em. ~ Galaxy 20:44, 30 August 2008 (CDT)
I don't know... it looks fine to me, I'll post some screenshots in case we are seeing different results. This is the padding that a thumbnail image box has:
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2788/padding1yz9.jpg
and this is the 'floatingtoc' with 1em padding:
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/2579/padding2bq7.jpg
as you can see it's pretty close, but another issue i found out which may be the reason of why you see it as too much is because 'floatingtoc' has padding all around where the method I was using with 'div style="float:right; padding-left:1em"' has only padding to one side, so 'floatingtoc' looks like this on the top right corner too:
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4647/padding3fh7.jpg
What I care more about is the padding from the text, but I also didn't like the toc being in contact with the top navbar, that is why I put a blank line on top which you deleted, though I also thought i wasn't a very professional solution. So the ideal I think would be to put 1em of lateral padding and just a bit of vertical. Can you fix this? If not I would really prefer going back to the other method. ~ Galaxy 12:30, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Main Page test

Please no DPL on the main page. Huge resource hog. -- Prod (Talk) 06:26, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm one step ahead of you. :) These lists would would be stored on a subpage and updated by a bot, ideally reading the data directly rather than from DPL, and this same bot would also be processing {{system}}'s top 10 to effectively eliminate DPL from everyday use. There are several bots on Wikipedia that are already serving similar purposes and at least some of them are open source, so this should be quite feasible. Since there isn't going to be much movement on these lists the bot would only need to run once a week, so the human effort and server impact is negligible compared to the current DPL implementation. GarrettTalk 07:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yea, I remember discussing that. Will it be one of our bots, or an automatic server based bot? -- Prod (Talk) 22:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

As a side note, when I'm doing an AWB run I'm generally not using my main account to any great degree; comments on the bot talk page will typically be noticed sooner (especially since it halts AWB). Question about Achievements Template

Would it be possible to put a switch in the header template based off of the system the achievement is for? For example, if |system=ps3 it will default to the black PS3 color and have no gamer score icon. |system=windows could be a darker blue (maybe not as dark as I had made the Spore achievements originally), again with no Gamer score, and then |system=xbox360 could have a greener color with the Gamer Score showing up. I'm not sure if Steam has points for their achievements, but we could potentially have separate one for that as well.

It could be useful for automatically inserting the categories as well. I'm not familiar enough to just step up and do it myself, but I could try and look into it. I just want to make sure its a good idea first.--DukeRuckleyTalk | Contribs 15:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

my bad

I got confused.

You are not a hypocrite. I got you all confused. Procyron and Skizzers were having entire categories of what an ass I am -- and you won't put up with name calling -- but you haven't called me an ass yet, so you are not really a hypocrite.

And neither is Procyron and Skizzers, cuz they are calling me an ass but they haven't said they won't deal with me because I insult people. They just think I am an ass.

So I guess everyone is square.

To sum up, I told Garrett it was probably a misunderstanding (it was, I put my by-line on an insignificant page rather than the main page -- that makes me an ass, I know), I admitted I was being "strident." Horrors. Really rowdy.

Then an entire POST devoted to what an ASS I am takes place, and I am the one who is name calling.

You all keep up the good work. I was looking forward to dealing with you all, but the MISUNDERSTANDING on my part (wrong page, the small page vs. the BIG page) gave the whole bureaucracy another chance to gang up and trash me at length, and yes, I reciprocated.

And Procyron, I could tell he was digging for a way NOT TO GIVE ME A BY-LINE. The battle was continuing. Why else would he ask where my contributions appeared first, here or on my web site? Why does that matter except the very real impression I got that it bothers and irritates you all that I am getting some kind of credit.

That was the breaking point. I was NOT going to be interrogated by Procyron for ways to not give me my by-line. SO I SAID GOOD-BYE. Then I get attacked again for saying good-bye. Okay. Fine.

So, yes, my response is, if that bothers you which appeared first, that's it, the final straw, it bothers you all sooooo much I might get credit I will just not get any. Fine. Established.

Procyron made it clear it was time for me to move on, and I told him so as eloquently as I could.

Procyron had to attack and be abusive to me once again, and yes I reciprocated.

I accept Procyron's offer to delete all of my contributions to this site. It was his offer. I will take him up on it.Karlcsr 08:58, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Please simply fulfill my initial request to Procyon to completely remove my user ID so everyone doesn't have a special page with my name on it to carry on further banter. FF Redirects

As I've said before I'm not very happy with the way that character pages are used, named and placed right now. But since I haven't come up with a better way to set up the Fatal Fury pages yet, I moved them all to "Fatal Fury: King of Fighters" (where they belong by current standards) . But I just thought it would be best to keep the old redirects from "Fatal Fury/Characters", since this is the most logical place for a Fatal Fury character page. I also would like to expand those redirects when the "Real Bout Fatal Fury" and the "Garou: Mark of the Wolfes" pages are done (sometime in the distant future^^), so that characters that first appear in a "Real Bout Fatal Fury" or "Garou" game can also be accessed by simply using "Fatal Fury/Characters", since they are also part of the Fatal Fury series. And isn't that actually what redirects are for anyway? This System could also be used to create another accespoint for the different KOF Characters (Orochi, NESTS and Ash right now) , because it would be alot easier and make more sense if they could be simply accessed by "The King of Fighters/Characters".

I'm pretty sure you don't agree with me :)--Bmuig 17:47, 9 November 2008 (UTC)(talk)

OK, I think you misunderstood me on this one...
I'll try to explain the whole situation: The Fatal Fury series (currently) consists of 8 main games plus a couple of remakes, spinoffs and so on. Since we try to keep the character pages from getting too big, I split the whole series up into 3 different parts: Fatal Fury, Real Bout Fatal Fury and Garou. But this is where the problems start: if you want to link to Blue Mary (just as an example) you can't simply link to Fatal Fury/Characters/Mary (which is the logical position of her Character page in my opinion), but instead you have to either link to her Fatal Fury or her Real Bout Fatal Fury page. And to make things worse, you can't even link to Fatal Fury/Characters/Mary anymore at all (since that page doesn't exist without the redirect anymore), instead it's at Fatal Fury: King of Fighters/Characters/Mary right now, although Blue Mary doesn't even appear in Fatal Fury: King of Fighters.
So (as a way to keep things from getting too strange) I thought we might keep the characters where they are right now (at Fatal Fury: King of Fighters/Characters/Mary and Real Bout Fatal Fury/Characters/Mary), but we also create a new redirect page at Fatal Fury/Character/Charactername for EVERY character in the whole series that allways links to the first appearance of this character. That way I can still direct to those special pages if I want to link to a FF, RBFF or a Garou page, but it allso allows the user to simply type Fatal Fury/Characters/Mary if they just want to link the the Fatal Fury character page without needing to know if a character first appeard in Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory or Real Bout Fatal Fury, which makes a big difference right now. This redirect page will also be the normal page by which a character is linked, since it allways directs to the first appearance of the character in the series.
To sum things up: What I meant by "expanding" the redirects was that I'd like to add redirects for ALL the characters from the whole Fatal Fury series sometime later when those pages are created (so that a character that first appears in Garou: Mark of the Wolfes can also be accessed by Fatal Fury/Characters/Charactername, since he is also part of the series), since only the first 4 games of the series (the "Fatal Fury" part of the "Fatal Fury" series) are done yet and so only those character pages are done so far.
hope I didn't confuse you too much...
PS: the situation described here is the same with the KOF pages, only worse --Bmuig 18:28, 9 November 2008 (UTC)(talk)

Deleting and copyvio

I noticed the past versions of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars/Paris are gone from the History tab now. I didn't think any history ever got deleted around here. Is it because it was copyvio? Also, what is the rule on the author of a copyrighted document copy/pasting his/her information here? Obviously the permission to use the material is granted, but is a formal release under our license required? In the talk pages or in the original document? Thanks, -najzere 15:25, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Dangerous Seed

Are lists like in the Stage pages a standard way of displaying items that have no explanatory text? I ask because the bullets seem to be adding unnecessary noise to the page, especially considering that they are not much smaller than some of the ships. The bullets also look odd next to some of the bigger, vertically asymmetric ships. I'm just wondering if the main purpose of the reorganization was to move from tables to divs, or if the lists are important. Or maybe both? Thanks, - najzere 10:13, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I'm having trouble getting away from these tables. I like how they line up the images and names in a way I can't easily replicate using div and span elements. I made a mock up of the enemy displays in my sandbox so you can see what I mean. I don't want to go against SW policy on using tables, but I think their neat, tabular organization presents the cleanest look. So is this within the scope of the table element, or is there another more acceptable way to achieve a similar look? - najzere 19:01, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

compymasax 07:40, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

combat arms ranks

For Combat Arms/Ranks, do you mean that you want each rank image split and placed into the cells in the table? Because that's a lot of image uploading that seems really really tedious...

edit: nevermind I'll do it. Actually not that many images, I'll tweak the tables too so that they're all together look better

Combat Arms images

For Combat Arms/Snow Valley, I noticed the tag about reducing the number of images because it "reduces claim to fair use". Exactly what does this mean? Every single picture on that page is a screenshot that I took myself while playing the game.

I do realize that the huge number of images clutters up the page, and I'll remove some of the superfluous ones, but how would it reduce claim to fair use?

Total Annihilation

I'm going through and marking the pages with the Delete template now. Basically the Getting Started and Controls pages for the expansions. Moving stuff around definitely wouldn't make it easy to find what was actually removed ;) --~Vizeroth~-- 05:55, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I think I got lucky on the footer navs, other than the one you got already. The ones that go between the content that I moved around on the ToC don't always make sense, but those pages all need some work, so it won't be too bad straightening out the edge cases as I go. Thanks for getting the deletes.--~Vizeroth~-- 06:06, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Mabi Cleanup

What do you think the scope of the Mabi guide should be? When you look at sites that cover practically everything like here (as an example for a skill) or here (as an example for a pet) it certainly looks like it can warrant an entire page. So the question is, what do we cover and what do we leave to the dedicated wiki? --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 19:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, as an MMO it doesn't really have a real walkthrough. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 21:22, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VII

I consolidated the Equip Effects templates here. Also, I want to add some information to the materia, and I made a table incorporating it on the Magic Materia page. Basically, it now shows attack %, power, element, reflect, and mastered materia value. I'm thinking it's beginning to be a bit much for a template to handle, so I'm considering just using a normal table. Unless you want to try adding the info into the Magic Materia template. :D

Also, I was thinking about the Stars template, and I think the way I did is the simplest, from both the template creation and use standpoints. It's obviously a simple template, and I like the "what you see is what you get" aspect of using it. Also, if someone without a lot of template experience needs to modify it down the road, it should be fairly easy to figure out. - najzere 19:08, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

I contacted the author of this walkthrough about using the guide here. I'm planning on rewriting it a bit before doing so, but I was wondering what the proper method of doing this sort of thing should be. The author gave me permission to use it, I was just wondering if I should copy & paste the original information with attribution, followed by my edited version, or just start with the edited version and attribute that to the original. Also, I was wondering if it would be best to just add a note to the talk page for the guide or walkthrough section of the guide (since this would cover a great deal of the guide), or just use the edit summary to leave attribution in the history? I was actually hoping the person would update the original file to add the site to their list before I got around to doing anything with it, and its still possible they will (since it takes a while for that site to update guides).--~Vizeroth~-- 14:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Petz series nav

The only problem is that people who are looking for the other title might not know the other version of the title that's left in the nav. They'll be forced to go to the category page to find the game they're looking for. - najzereT 19:44, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

What is wrong with the disambigs? Dogz 2 is sort of the name for lots of games; in the UK it is a game for the DS (Petz: Dogz 2 (DS)) and there's also a 1997 version which some of the other guys seem to know about. I was going to point out that dogz 2 would've been better redirected to Petz Dogz 2 (DS) since that is the title for it in the UK, but I changed it myself anyway. At the end of the day, I think that we should have Petz: Dogz 2 and Petz: Catz 2 as disambigs, whether Dogz 2 and Catz 2 are or not. --Melon247 17:41, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good

I would go for that. Most of the time it's unnecessary anyway, it would be easier to remove it than to try fixing it every time a new area is patched in. As for the new classes, it's been changed pretty radically in the last few test server patches. The names are: Soul Master (Warrior), Nightwalker (Thief), Windbreaker (Archer), Flame Wizard (Mage) and Striker (Pirate). They only have one branch, so they only get one name. They use the same equips as normal classes, but their promotions and homeland and so on are completely separate from the normal classes (which have been renamed to "Adventurers" on the new "Race Select" menu.) so they aren't really like a separate branch. It's kind of confusing, but that's the way it is. Also, their job title doesn't change when they advance (Windbreaker promotes to Windbreaker at level 30, instead of Archer to Crossbowman or whatever.)--IsaacGS 21:02, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
