Welcome to StrategyWiki!

Hello RodKimble! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:51, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Easier editing

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. Thanks for working on the wiki! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:38, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Alright thanks for letting me know and forgot about that sorry the first time i didnt know because im a new since two days ago and a question where do i put my name on the editing part-RodKimble (talk) 03:51, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

No problem. If I post anything here it is for both StrategyWiki's benefit (it saves us time if you do things more efficiently), as well as your own benefit (learning makes you better). What do you mean by "editing part"? It looks like you figured out how to sign your name here, on this talk page. We do not allow people to sign their names on guide pages. Your name, or IP address if you are not logged in, is logged in the page's history, which you can view by clicking the History link on any page. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:23, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hello again I just wanted to ask if I put furniture sets on the animal crossing city folk furniture next and if I do where?-RodKimble (talk) 03:29, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Your question does not make sense. Please try again. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:54, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
You should check out the Animal Crossing: New Leaf guide for layout ideas. A couple of us have worked hard to get a good table of contents set up. You'll see we have content for furniture sets (work in progress) but I'm sure a lot of that stuff is the same across the series. Minx (talk) 22:21, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
I checked it out and helped me out a lot thanks Minx sorry for the late reply. --RodKimble (talk) 06:07, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Preload buttons

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add Header Nav to the top and Footer Nav to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:10, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Remember to press the "Guide page" button to fill in the footer nav so we don't have to do it for you. Thanks! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:39, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Alright thanks for letting me know sorry about that RodKimble (talk) 17:34, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

I noticed that Animal Crossing: City Folk/Town Folk was still missing a header and a footer. As NMH said, please press the "Guide page" button and fill in the page between the Header Nav and Footer Nav templates. Thank you. :) --WarioTalk 05:06, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about that I need to start remembering to do it I will try not to forget again. - RodKimble (talk) 16:03, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Remember to use the "Main game page" button so that Stub (if applicable), Continue Nav, and ToC get added to the new guide's page automatically. Thanks for creating Mario Party: Island Tour! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:58, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Remember to press the "Guide page" button - it looks like you manually typed or copied the header nav to the bottom of the Mushroom Shop page. Footer Nav should be at the bottom, not Header Nav. The preload button will put it in for you. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:29, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Rod, come on man! Please use these buttons when making new pages (press "Main Game page" for a game's infobox, etc.). You continue to remove or leave out mandatory templates from main game pages like Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar (missing Continue Nav and ToC, both added automatically). This saves all of us time. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:23, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Also, footer navs are not allowed on main game pages. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:24, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Rod, this is another reminder, please use the "Main Game page" button - you left out the |num= parameter of the header nav for Brawl Brothers, which would be automatically added. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:05, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Good work

Thanks for your work on the Animal Crossing: City Folk guide. It's really coming along nicely. Hopefully you'll be able to see it through to level 4! :) If you need any help at all, let me know. (Just noticed we're the same age, too. Nice. ;) --WarioTalk 15:53, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

No problem i'm hoping to get it to level 4 soon.Alright thanks for letting me know :) Really that's awesome :D.i've been a new member since almost a month ago now so still getting used to the editing RodKimble (talk) 17:41, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
All 100% completed on Animal Crossing: City Folk- RodKimble (talk) 02:49, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, I'll look it over. In the meantime, I noticed a few things missing from the city page (Marquee, HRA, and fortune teller) and information on the town shops/Town Hall. If you could add that in, that would be great. If not, no sweat, I'll get to it. I'm surprised at how fast you got through everything. I have a feeling this will be a level 4 guide soon. :D Also, just a little note: instead of writing stuff like "A button", you can use A to show an image of it there instead. For example: A button or Right nunchuk Thanks for your hard work! --WarioTalk 01:37, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay thanks, if you could help out I'd be real thankful for that. --RodKimble (talk) 16:13, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks so much for helping out on Animal Crossing: City Folk getting it to level 4 :). --RodKimble (talk) 06:27, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

NES and SNES games

I don't know if you care for emulators or have a problem with them, but you can play games online with a computer with Java installed at virtualnes.com and virtualsupernes.com (they have a game boy one, too). This isn't preferable, since you can't save games (AFAIK), but it's cool for checking out titles you haven't heard of. Also, the RetroN5 is coming out soon, which can play NES, SNES, japanese versions of those, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:20, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Additionally, if you have an Android phone or tablet, you can find a number of emulators available for download on the Google Play Store. Personally, I use devices like the JXD S7300 and JXD S7800 which are built for gaming (Google them to find out more.) As for finding the games, we can't really talk about it here, but feel free to email me for some help. Procyon 20:16, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Closed Table

By now you should know how to close the table, yet you always let it open which will shown not properly. Please close the Table properly so it can be shown correct on site. Paco (talk) 20:49, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Alright sorry about that still getting used to the editing part thanks for reminding me RodKimble (talk) 20:53, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Rod, if it helps you, you can use an old programmers trick. Just as soon as you open the table with the {|, immediately close it with |}, and then start adding all the contents in between. You're most likely to remember to close the table immediately after you open in. Procyon 23:43, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay thanks for letting me know that's been real helpful Procyon, and you can call me Kimble my real name by the way. -RodKimble (talk) 05:55, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Support

No problem! I'm glad to help out anyone who is willing to put the effort into using and improving our guides. Whatever you want to do here, you will have at least my support. The others here may not say anything, but they are likely watching you, too (like Paco, Minx, and E-123Wario54). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 07:11, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Mario Party mini games guides

Like I set up on Mario Party/1-player minigames, I believe we should use headers for the mini-games so that the info can be expanded to include screenshots and other helpful tips other than just the game's statistics and general description. Most games have little safe areas and other tricks to be exploited. What do you think? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:35, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

I saw how Mario Party/4-player minigames are set up so I was doing that but I agree with you if we are doing that we should also fix Mario Party/4-player minigames as well. --RodKimble (talk) 16:58, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
I am glad that you got the table filled out. It is easiest to do one thing at a time in its totality, so at least you got all the basic info in. Now we can split it. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:33, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Since the tables were in the exact same format, I was able to use a regex to quickly convert it over. Yay :D --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:40, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Great job looks very organized I totally didn't know you were helping out thanks for helping out that helped out a lot --RodKimble (talk) 18:20, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Can you do that on Mario Party/3 vs. 1 minigames and Mario Party/2 vs. 2 minigames as well? --RodKimble (talk) 19:49, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
2v2 done. If I don't do 3v1 today remind me. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:56, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
Just reminding about 3v1 and I wrote on Mario Party/1-player minigames and was woundering if you can fix this last one.I wrote the description and time --RodKimble (talk) 06:25, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
All mini-game pages have been converted to use headers. Here is the regular expression (regex) I used (the second bullet is what to replace with):
 • |-\n| \(:print:\{1,30\}\)\n| \(:print:\{1,10\}\)\n|\(:print:\{1,300\}\)\n|\(:print:\{1,10\}\)
 • ==\1==\n*Cost: \2\n*Description: \3\n*Time: \4\n
 • I use Textpad in Windows to use regex replacements. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:22, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks so much for helping out again. Also saw you've been working on Super Mario Advance with a bunch of others helping to organize it. Thanks on that as well if I had that game I would totally help out but don't have a gameboy advance :(. --RodKimble (talk) 06:03, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Mario Party/Mini-Game Island

Are the mini games in this challenge any different than the ones played normally throughout the game? If they are just normal games, we can convert these lists to tables and then link to the page we have put them on (e.g. 3 vs. 1 minigames). We do not want to duplicate information or have two separate lists of mini game strategies. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:15, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

No there the same thing, the only thing that is different you have to place first, collect a certain amount of coins, or pass the finish line, In the Mario Party/Mini-Game Island.
Ok, so that page should list, for each game, the requirement for continuing. No other info should be given. Instead, a link should be given. The page can probably be changed to mostly table form, except for the intro of course, and is probably best moved to the appendices section, as it is not part of the main game (not a game board, but a sort of mega-minigame). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:48, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Alright I totally agree with you on this one. -- RodKimble (talk) 20:13, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Series followed/preceded by

Please look at Harvest Moon before doing any more maintenance. We have separated the handheld series ifrom the console one. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:46, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Oh man sorry I thought they were supposed to go in the order which date they came out, that's what I did I just went in the order they went by cause I like it that way, but I'd be happy to fix if you think. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RodKimble (talkcontribs) .
I've seen that they've been fixed, but some of them have the handheld devices and console devices are together still I've noticed. -- RodKimble (talk) 20:10, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Please sign your talk posts. You didn't do anything wrong by trying to change them. The situation is complicated and we don't have rules to quickly address it. Thank you for bringing it up in the staff lounge. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:26, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Aw man I will remember to sign my talk post from now on, also I just think it would be more organized that way but it's up to what you and the staff lounge think about it but that's my opinion. -- RodKimble (talk) 20:10, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

StrategyWiki:Guide completion

Be VERY careful when removing titles. I believe you were incorrect when removing all of the titles in these two diffs:

For example, Brawl Brothers is said to be available on Wii U Virtual Console. It may not be available where you live, but it is available elsewhere in the world. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:43, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Okay sorry about that, I just looked online and didn't see anything about those games being on Wii U Virtual Console but the games I added are on virtual console, as mariowiki has just announced that Nintendo is bringing gameboy advance to to the Wii U Virtual Console. - RodKimble (talk) 17:41, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
You can find most info at Wikipedia or by a quick google search which will probably show some eshop info. See wp:List of Virtual Console games for Wii (North America), for example. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:43, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Ok than thanks for helping out I don't know how many times I've told you that, but I hope I'm not saying that too much haha, I'm trying my best to help out this wikipedia I hope I'm doing pretty good so far. I had a question about Game & Wario how come it's not in the Wii U Games list yet I made this one so if you could take a look at it to see what you can do like mario party and mario and sonic you helped out with.
Are you talking about the guide completion list or Category:Wii U? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:06, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
The Category:Wii U is the one I'm talking about. - RodKimble (talk) 18:12, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
You haven't been categorizing new main pages. That is something you need to work on. At the bottom of all main pages you need to list the categories explicitly. See Game & Wario for the categories I just added at the bottom. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:17, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Several things you need to work on

 1. Signing your posts on talk pages. NMH reminded you about this on May 7, and you said you'd remember, but you continue to forget.
 2. Correctly categorizing games on the main page. As mentioned above, if you want Game & Wario to show up on Category:Wii U, you need to add to the bottom of the page.
 3. Shorten. Your. Sentences. You frequently try to cram too many thoughts into a single sentence. That makes them very hard for people to read. Try to restrict each sentence to just one primary thought. I have a hard time to following what you're trying to say because your sentences go on and on and on... Understanding this is an important principal of communication. Procyon 20:01, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh yes I will definitely remember to do the first two, also I will try my best and to shorten my sentences so everyone will understand them. - RodKimble (talk) 20:18, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you :) Procyon 20:41, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

You forgot to sign your post in the Staff Lounge again. Just letting you know, you've gotta get in the habit of doing that. Otherwise, good job. It looks like you've gotten the hang of creating main pages. :) It's nice to have someone like you around giving the Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon series some much-needed attention. --WarioTalk 18:46, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Oh man not again thank you for reminding me again, I'm just happy to have everyone to help me out and remind me. And thanks for saying that I was wondering how I've been doing so far, also I have been a fan of those games since I played Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. But I just ordered a GameCube controller a couple days ago should be here any time, because my sisters dog chewed my controller :(. - RodKimble (talk) 08:54, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Hey Rod, when you make a new main page, can you also click on the Table of Contents red link and then use the Table of Contents preload button to make a stub for the ToC? That saves me a couple of clicks when I go to clean up your work, and it will let me spend more time on the infobox/category cleanup. Thanks! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:27, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

A little something...

Thanks again!
Thanks again!
A little thank you…
For For all of your hard work on improving StrategyWiki and game info in general..

Animal Crossing N64

I'm curious as to why you're removing information on the N64 version of Animal Crossing from the main page. Do you think the guides should be split or is it something else? --WarioTalk 04:52, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

I think they should stay on the same page for now. Thanks for fixing Animal Crossing up, I think before I messed with it. It looked better, I don't know what I was thinking at the time haha. -- RodKimble (talk) 05:08, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
No problem, just making sure. :) --WarioTalk 05:57, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
I have a question, what should I write about the Points of Interest and Fun with Nature sections. I have no idea what to write about. -- RodKimble (talk) 05:58, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
The previous writer of the guide was probably planning something, but there's no way of knowing now. If you believe those pages aren't necessary, then remove them. It's a collaborative project after all. The first AC is the only one I haven't played, so that's all I can say on that. Sorry. ._.' You'd know better than possibly any one of us, so you do whatever you think is best. Side note: those Wii U release date updates are much appreciated. I am slow on current releases and had no idea so many of these games were ported over, haha... --WarioTalk 07:06, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I figured out what to write about on both of them. Would you mind looking at the Special Visitors and see if you think the characters I added should be on there? I also added the rewards from Gulliver and Katie also patterns for Wendell, if you want to look at that those too, I'd be very thankful. --RodKimble (talk) 00:24, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that's good. It might be useful to have that information there, so thanks for adding on. :) On the topic of the AC: CF guide, I was thinking I'd dig out my City Folk guidebook and scan images of furniture/clothing/etc. from there, but I'll see how it works out first. The ultimate goal is for StrategyWiki to have the best City Folk guide on the 'net, and we are on our way. ;) --WarioTalk 02:43, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Games must have a genre

Do not remove genres from a game's infobox. It is mandatory. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:25, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Whoops sorry, I should've asked you if you knew what genres both of those should be in. I just put party because I just was in a hurry making those and didn't know what to put in the genres. Thanks for fixing them. --RodKimble (talk) 19:17, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
I've noticed that you attribute a lot of mistakes to being in a hurry. The obvious solution to this is please don't rush. We're very fortunate to have a talented staff that is able to spot and correct mistakes, but we'd be even more fortunate if editors took their time and didn't make the mistakes in the first place. Slow down and ensure that the work you've done is correct before you save it. If you're not sure, ask someone. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Procyon 23:37, 12 June 2014

(UTC)

I will try to slow down when writing these walkthroughs from now on. I just hope to be as great as everyone one on here at writing a walkthrough on this wikipedia. And how have I been doing at shortening my sentences Procyon? --RodKimble (talk) 00:04, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
You're doing better! Whenever you're about to submit a change, consider using the "Preview" button one more time just to look it over. Also, sorry for the short message. A good alternative if there are several genres or several of something is to just put the word "Various" (no link). Someone can be more specific later. Thanks =) --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:43, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for saying that, and I should be thanking you for helping out with Harvest Moon series, it's looking great so far. The beginning of harvest moon has just begun. --RodKimble (talk) 07:36, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Attribution

Did you copy this content from somewhere else? If so, please edit the page, don't add anything, but in the summary say "last edit from URL" and paste in the website's URL if there was one. Otherwise, great job on the description of the setting! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:49, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

No its the story to the game, whenever you start the game up. --RodKimble (talk) 05:57, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Well, please state that somewhere, either on the page, like From the title screen cinematic: or From the game manual: or just in the summary. Otherwise, you're illegally copying their words. Also, if it is the story, please put ==Story== above it to give it its own section. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:31, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Congrats!

Looks like you put a lot of work and research into that Animal Crossing guide, so congrats on getting it to level 4! You've improved so much since you first joined, it's awesome! ^_^ --WarioTalk 02:52, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment that's gonna get me through most of my day :), were moving. I'm just glad to help out. -- RodKimble (talk) 17:04, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Happy birthday!

Congratulations on reaching Level 18. I hear that's a good one. Unfortunately, we don't have a walkthrough for Life because it's too complex ;) But I'm sure you'll do great anyhow. Thanks for your contributions to the site. We appreciate it. Have a great birthday. Procyon 14:26, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Procyon :) -- RodKimble (talk) 17:14, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Ahaha. Happy birthday, Rod! You should save up and wait for the RetroN5 to be released. Famicom/NES/SNES/GB/GBA/Sega Mega Drive! (that's what I'm waiting for!) --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:42, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks so much Notmyhandle, my family got me a wii u with two games. And that's probably what I am gonna save up for, it looks amazing. I didn't know about the RetroN5 until it was mentioned on my talk page. -- RodKimble (talk) 02:27, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Mario Golf series

While it's very clear that Golf and Golf Japan Course are precursors to what ultimately became the Mario Golf series, what evidence do you have to indicate that they are part of the series? Procyon 20:33, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

The only thing I know is Mario is the only playable character in Golf. And Mario and Luigi are playable in Golf Japan Course. That's all I know if you don't think they should be a part of the Mario Golf series I would be glad to take them off. -- RodKimble (talk) 21:31, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
It's never expressly said that the player in Golf is Mario, although it is intended to be Mario and Luigi in Golf Japan Course. So Golf is a definite no, and Golf Japan Course is iffy, it technically predates the Mario Golf series since the first official title in the series was released for the N64. I see that Wikipedia includes both of these games in their Mario Sports template, but still... I'll leave the call up to you, but personally I would leave them out, and just put a note about the earlier titles in the series category page. Procyon 03:17, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
Okay, well I will see if I can find anything else related to Mario Golf series before I remove them. Also on mariowiki it says, on golf Mario is a playable character. That one will probably end up getting removed because that's the only Mario related thing. - RodKimble (talk) 03:43, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
@Proc: I think we should follow Wikipedia's lead on this one. The point is to hint towards predecessors of the series, if they exist. We can differentiate official/canonical titles from these loosely tied titles by adding a bold label to the left of the row of titles, like we've done with Mystic Ark and others.
@Rod: can you take Proc's notes and put them somewhere relevant on the two Golf and Golf Japan Course pages? It is important for these loose connections to be noted. Also, if added to the Mario Golf series, these notes should also be added to the category page itself, like Category:Mystic Ark. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:33, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

You've created a lot of main game pages that contain nothing besides a filled in Infobox. While the correctly filled in Infobox is appreciated, the lack of any other content is a problem. There are three things that a main page needs to be considered complete: the Infobox, at least descriptive paragraph explaining what the game is, and ideally a picture of the box art. At the very least, you could be adding an introduction paragraph. We use the same license as Wikipedia, so what most of us do is copy the introductory paragraph from the respective page there. It's not perfect, but it's a start. Please try to make more of an effort with this when starting a new page. Thank you. Procyon 22:43, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, about the picture of the box art. I will start writing a little info about the game as well to help make everyone's Wikipedia writing easier. -- RodKimble (talk) 21:40, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm having trouble trying to put up the pictures of the box art. -- RodKimble (talk) 06:57, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Image categorisation

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. . Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Procyon 20:52, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Additionally, for any cover scans you upload. Thanks. Procyon 20:52, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
You also need to name them correctly, and include the game category as well. For example, the "Alpine Series" of images you just uploaded give no indication of what game they're for. judging by the fact you're putting them on an Animal Crossing page, you should include them in Category:Animal Crossing: New Leaf images and name them "ACNL Alpine Table.jpg" and so forth. --Moydow T · C 03:40, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Moydow and I were typing this up at the same time, but he beat me to it. I'm sorry, I don't mean to come down on you, but the image uploads are becoming a mess. Two really important things:
 • Name the files appropriately. They should start with the name of the game they come from (an abbreviation will suffice if the game has more than two words in the title), and then a description of what the image is. File names like 3679oGHJKDfhjLJB6832.jpg really don't help us at all, because it's impossible to tell what that's supposed to be.
 • In addition to a Screenshot or Box artwork category, you should be adding a category for the game that it comes from followed by the word "images". So for those furniture pics you uploaded, you should be adding .
I know these seem like small pains in the ass, but they help a lot because we have a ridiculous number of images on this site, so it's important to keep them organized. One final comment, you don't actually have to add the screenshot category when they're tiny images. The screenshot category is better for full size uncropped screenshots. Please help us out with this stuff, it will make things a lot easier for everyone. Procyon 03:42, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for being such a pain, I will try my best to keep a lot of pictures more organized and start adding the category for the game and descriptions of what the images are. -- RodKimble (talk) 03:56, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
There's no need to apologize, you are a huge contributor, especially to our Animal Crossing guides which can always use the extra love because there's so much information to keep track of. We just like to try and stop bad practices as quickly as possible before they become bad habits. Thanks for understanding. Procyon 04:55, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Box art tips

I don't want you to think I'm a jerk, or that I don't appreciate the work you're doing, but since you're uploading a lot of box art, I just wanted to throw these pointers out there. You're not doing anything wrong, but there are some tips that could improve the quality of what you're doing.

 1. All images should be in jpg format with "jpg" as the extension, not "jpeg". Avoid using pngs for anything other than screenshots or sprite rips. Avoid using gifs for anything other than animation.
 2. When I upload box art, I usually go with the filename formula: Game_name_system_region_box.jpg, where system is an abbreviation for the system it's for, and region is something like US, JP, or EU. So for example, "Super Mario Bros. 3 NES US box.jpg" or "Final Fantasy V SFC JP box.jpg". This is important because some games came out for multiple systems in multiple regions, so it's good to know which scan you've uploaded. Also, just adding box to the end helps distinguish the file from all the other files in that image category.
 3. If you really want to go the extra-mile, you can fill in the new image categories you're creating. For example, you just established Category:Kirby & the Amazing Mirror images, so it's a red link. If you click on it, you'll get an empty page. The contents that I would put in there are:
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror guide images

I know it's a lot to consider, but I wanted to mention it since you're uploading so many images now. It's just a level of polish that would really help us out. And you'll be a pro at it. Procyon 21:55, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

No I wouldn't think you're a jerk. I would rather someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong, because I can become a better member like everyone else here. Who have been helping me out a lot. So if I'm doing something wrong I would like someone to tell me. I'm very appreciated for everyone's help :). -- RodKimble (talk) 06:57, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
You made some mistakes on Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat. I moved the image to a better filename. See the page history of the image, here. I also added a link to the game, and the categories necessary for the image (you forgot to add any). Also, after adding a game-specific category and you upload the file or save your change, scroll to the bottom of the page. If the game-specific category is a red link, please click it. I set up a preload button to fill in the contents of the game-specific category, so just click the far right preload button. Then, since my preload contents have a glitch (using the explode code I wrote), please replace the explode code with the game's title, e.g. Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat. The explode code will work if you save the page, but it is often more code than the game's title, and we want to save space here. Thanks for adding all the box art! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:34, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Additionally, these images needed cleanup (please review my changes to learn):
Another tip: never use 'jpeg', only 'jpg'. The extra e is just a wasted character. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:28, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Please do not upload .gif files. They are only helpful for animations, which are best for small sprites. Images like File:Spitti's Search C64 US Title.gif end up with problems here (when gifs are re-sized here, they have to generate a new thumbnail, but our server is unable to do that anymore). As a result, .png files are superior, so please convert .gif to png before uploading. You can use the free image editing program "GIMP" to do that (open gif, File >> Export, choose png, done!). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:00, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Image quality

Hi again RK. I took a look at some of the images you're uploading, and truthfully, they're really hard to see. Ideally, you should try to find images that are between 320 and 640 pixels wide. That's the sweet spot. Anything under 320 is really too small and of too little quality. Anything over 640 is nice, but it will get shrunk down, so it becomes a small waste of space. Please try to shoot for images of that size. When you search Google for images, you can actually specify what size images you'd like to find. Let me know if you need any help with that. Procyon 19:10, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I took a look at them today as well, know exactly what you mean. I will back track on all of them to see which ones need uploaded again to get better images, and if you could help out a bit I be very appreciated Procyon :). -- RodKimble (talk) 19:16, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
The best way to use Google Image search is to search for something, click on it, then when you see the black box, look under the URL by the square buttons and it will say the resolution, e.g. "300 x 100" and then "Search by image". Click on "Search by image" and it will take you to a white google page with a small thumbnails. Next to the thumbnail, click "All sizes". You will now be at an image search page sorted by the largest sizes at the top left. You'll notice the resolutions at the bottom. Note that the best resource for Box Art is actually GameFAQs, since they do not watermark their images and they are usually medium to large sizes. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:17, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Please remember to pay attention to quality. These two images are of poor quality: File:Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom NES NA box.jpg and File:Innocent Life- A Futuristic Harvest Moon PSP NA box.jpg. Why are they poor? Low resolution and very obvious JPG artifacts (those distorted pixels on the edges of everything that make it blurry and blocky). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:11, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Recent edits

Hi RK. Please take a look at the Recent changes list to see some of Moydow's changes. He fixed a couple of things, and I wanted to make sure you were aware of them. For example, it doesn't make sense to label the stamps page "Stamp" (singular) since there are multiple stamps, not just one. In another case, you removed 1-Up Studios as a developer of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker when in fact they were. Please double check this stuff before you make these kind of changes, as we pride ourselves on accuracy. Other than that, please keep up the great work. Procyon 02:07, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about that Procyon, I apologized on his talk page. And just like I told him I will look back at what I did, before going straight to another page to make everyone's editing on here easier. -- RodKimble (talk) 02:15, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Don't worry about it, while very polite, there's no need to be quite so apologetic. We all make mistakes, including me, and we all help each other out whenever we need it. Just take your time and think things through, and you'll do fine. From the looks of things, we may need to add Wii U VC to the sys template so that you don't have to keep adding the category at the end of the page. Procyon 01:28, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

3DS Virtual Console entries and Nintendo eShop

Hi Rod, when the 3DS Virtual Console has a release date, then the Nintendo eShop needs to be listed as a distributor, and the category for Nintendo eShop needs to be available. This is because players buy the game via the eShop and then play it via the Virtual Console. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:03, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Also, don't forget to add Nintendo 3DS to the systems parameter of the infobox. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:28, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Nice job

Hey RK, just wanted to say, we've noticed how hard you've been working to fill in a lot of red links and establish some of the guide front pages. It's really appreciated. Thank you and keep up the great work. Procyon 01:31, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

F-Zero Climax

I'm just writing here to say that Moydow is 100% correct on this matter. His response to you should in no way be taken as a personal slight. There's correct and there's incorrect and Moydow is simply explaining why his approach is the correct one. I realize you felt that adding the colon was more aesthetically pleasing, but if there isn't one in the published title, then it doesn't belong. Getting upset about it won't help matters. Moydow is especially trusted by this community, and I can safely say that he had no intention of insulting you. Procyon 02:36, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for making a scene like that I apologized to Moydow your right Procyon -- RodKimble (talk) 02:44, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
It's easy to get confused between policy and accuracy. It's best to bring it up for cordial discussion when an edit conflict (argument) arises. If someone reverts your edits, please ask them why and assert your position. Be receptive to what they reply with. Many game titles leave out colons when they should have them for grammatical reasons, and we do add them sometimes (usually following Wikipedia's title for the game). However, in this case we are dealing with a Japanese game title, so normal English punctuation doesn't apply. F-Zero Climax was never localized so it doesn't have a grammatically correct name. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:52, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Single player and modes

In every Main Page infobox we want to see the |modes= parameter. Most commonly it is filled with |modes=Single player. As a result, the page should also have at the bottom. Thank you for your help with creating stubs and filling out series! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:15, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Because of this, we usually do not use |players=1 because a Single player only game implies that only one player is available. The players parameter is for multiplayer games. It is most helpful for identifying ranges of 2-4 players. So MMOG games would not have the players parameter, nor would Multiplayer online battle arenas. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:27, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Please do not remove images from pages

See this diff for when you orphaned an image. We do not allow images to be unused on this site. Either they get used, or they get deleted. The logo is pertinent and a good addition to the guide, so it should be added in a gallery on the main page, under a header like "Artwork" or "Images". Or, it can go in the Table of Contents if it fits nicely. I've added it to a gallery on the main page for now. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:59, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you so much for being such a big help on this Wikipedia site. I'm so glad I can help out as much as I can, and I'm not ignoring your comments on my page I read them and follow them so I can be a great writer like everyone else on here. -- RodKimble (talk) 19:44, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Fixing pages

No problem! Although I wish I could be more of a content creator, like Procyon and Namcorules, guys like you and I are also very valuable to the project as a whole. From working here for so long, I found out that there are only a few that can fill my shoes, and no one really wants to do this job. Somehow I can muster up the energy to keep going, so your thanks are much appreciated and help make this project more fun to work on. I must say, you have been VERY busy these last few months! 'Cleaning up' after you takes up most of my time, but that's ok, because we are improving both the site and ourselves as we go. Keep it up! If I don't have anything to patrol, then I don't do as much work around here, so if you do more, then I do more. =) --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:20, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Wii Virtual Console

Hi Rod, I finally read through enough of the descriptions, and watched enough YouTube videos, to understand how the differences between the Wii Virtual Console (and 3DS and Wii U VCs), Wii Shop Channel, and Nintendo eShop. Basically, what I think we should do is have our main pages like:

 • Distributor: Wii Shop Channel (this is because games are purchased through the Wii Shop Channel, not the Wii Virtual Console which is the emulator that is used to play the games) and Nintendo eShop (eShop covers 3DS and/or Wii U)
 • Release date: use the virtual console sys (Wii VC, 3DS VC, and Wii U VC).
 • System: use the physical console (Wii, 3DS, and Wii U). use the virtual console (Wii VC, 3DS VC, or Wii U VC).
 • Categories: put the physical console categories here because they will not have been added by sys in the release dates. Also, add if used as a distributor. However, do not add Wii Shop Channel as it does not have its own category, instead, let it be covered by the Wii Virtual Console page.

Does this arrangement make sense? I've redirected Wii Shop Channel, so we don't need a Wii Shop Channel category, nor do we have to replace all of the games that have Wii Virtual Console in their distributor line, since that is acceptable, but not 100% accurate. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:05, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Note: Procyon and I have come to an agreement that the System section should NOT have the physical console listed. Nor should the page be categorized with the physical console. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:53, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, RK, I see you adding Category:Wii U wherever NMH has added a Wii U VC system property to the infobox. This is not correct. Emulated virtual console games are not proper games of the system(s) they are emulated on. So, for example, Pac-Man Collection can be categorized as GBA and WUVC, but it should not be categorized as a Wii U game. Not unless a game made specifically for the Wii U comes out with that title. Do you understand? Procyon 18:40, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
If you look at Wii Category, there are a Virtual Console games on that list. And I thought the same should go for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games as well. -- RodKimble (talk) 18:44, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
If that's the case then unfortunately, it's wrong. We didn't come up with a good policy on this early on, and it should be corrected now. A game should be categorized under a hardware platform if and only if it was specifically programmed for that platform. Therefore, all non-Virtual Console titles that are available for download from the shopping channel belong in the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS categories. However, Virtual Console games are not recreations of a game, they are played through emulators, and thus do not contain code native to those platforms.
Here's the best distinction I can give: The classic Kid Icarus game that was released for the 3DS as part of the "3D Classics" brand with 3D visuals and high resolution backgrounds can be properly categorized as a 3DS game because it contains code that is distinct from the original NES version. However, the Virtual Console release of the original Metroid does not belong in the 3DS category because it still running the original NES code through an emulator. So if in fact there are VC games in the Wii category, that needs to be fixed. Procyon 01:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
RK, this is getting frustrating. I just saw this diff, and I don't understand why you added a Wii U category to Metroid. As I explained above, we did not do a good job coming up with a clear policy in the beginning, but we're hammering that out now, and I think we've come to a good conclusion about it. Part of being a part of this team and helping out, is being able to roll with changes to policy when they come about. You can help us out by correcting earlier mistakes that we made, but contributing to the mistakes doesn't help us at all. It may sound harsh, but as the old saying goes, "you're either with us or against us." Please be with us and help correct our earlier short-sightedness. To be clear:
Emulated games that are offered through any Virtual Console channel belong to that system's Virtual Console category, and not to that system's actual category.
Furthermore, as NMH mentioned above, you shouldn't even have to add any system categories because using the sys template in the release dates section of the infobox adds the categories for you. I trust that you can make the correct alterations so that the site reflects this change in each game's status. Thanks. Procyon 17:20, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Please don't get mad at me, that's how it was before and if you look at it they are playable on the Wii U by buying them via the Nintendo eShop, Wii U Virtual Console. -- RodKimble (talk) 18:13, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
I'm not mad, I just want to make sure we're all on the same page. I know that Metroid is playable on the Wii U, but we're making a technical distinction here. The version of Metroid being played on the Wii U is still the original NES game, not a new version made for the Wii U. Besides, by placing it in the Wii U Virtual Console category, we are already saying in effect that the game is playable on the Wii U, so it doesn't need the Wii U category; it's redundant. Procyon 19:29, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
And what about the controls on the Wii U controller as well. -- RodKimble (talk) 05:55, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, I've been on vacation. Just trying to catch up where needed, as our RC unpatrolled is too massive for me to keep up with (we have a lot of productive people working on the wiki right now, which is great!). I know Procyon touched on this before but I wanted to say it myself, too. This is the first time we'eve ever tackled this discussion (Nintendo eShop and virtual console categories and their relationships), so the changes I outlined at the start of this thread are our best logical decisions for proceeding forward. Games in the Wii U category that are actual virtual console games should be moved as Proc stated before. Ok that said, replying now to your controls comment: if a retro game can be played with multiple controllers, it does not affect its system categorization. On the controls page, all default controller mappings need to be included. You can consider the controllers separate from the console as far as our categorization goes on the main page. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 06:09, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Do not blank pages

Please do not remove all of the content from a page. It is wasteful and leaves garbage here on the site. I am talking about this diff. Instead, please add reason at the top. The easiest reason is just 'moved to Page Name'. Thank you, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:55, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

In this case, since you or a previous editor misspelled the game's title. You can think of that as a 'common misspelling'. If you make the mistake, or someone did in the past, others may as well. So, create a redirect! I took care of it for Mega Man Battle Network Chip Challenge. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 15:57, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

This is a wiki, not a 'Wikipedia'

I just wanted to correct your assumption that this is called a 'Wikipedia'. The actual term is a 'wiki' (which is software). Wikipedia (a website and organization) is also a wiki, but other wikis are not called Wikipedia. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki for an explanation of what a wiki is. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:27, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Take a break

RK, I had to revert all three of your most recent edits. I don't understand what the problem is, but you clearly don't understand the policy concerning the categorization of Virtual Console games. I'd like you to take a break from this task, and work on something else, like actually writing guide content. The front pages don't really need that much fixing, and the admins are very capable of taking care of them. Please pick a game that you like that we don't have a lot of content for, and work on that. Please don't work on any more front pages because it's creating too much chaos. Thanks. Procyon 13:37, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Alright I will stop making a mess even though I don't think it should be like that. I liked it the way before with virtual console games on the Wii U and been researching and they are playable on the Wii U as well. -- RodKimble (talk) 16:10, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
RK, I'm starting to get a little aggravated. Your recent edits to Donkey Kong Jr. Math and Kirby's Return to Dream Land are incorrect, and I reverted both of them. As we've stated over and over again, if a game is available on Wii U VC, it does not belong in the Wii U category. As for the Kirby title, I don't believe it counts as a Virtual Console game. Because the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii, it would simply be a Wii game available for download on the Wii U. I guess in that context, it does belong in the Wii U category, but it does not belong in the Wii U VC category. Furthermore, since the games are categorized by the infobox, there was no need for you to add the categories manually.
Like I said earlier, please take a break from this stuff and focus on a guide for a game or two. If you wanted to work on Hyrule Warriors, that would be awesome. Thank you. Procyon 00:01, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
A couple of other Wii games are on Wii U VC as well if you were aggravated and I said before not all of them are going on there just the one's I put on there deserve to be on the Wii U Category but if you all don't want Donkey Kong Jr. Math doesn't have to be on there just a couple I put on there. -- RodKimble (talk) 00:15, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
It's not about whether you feel a game "deserves" to be there. It's a technical distinction, not a feeling. Games either belong in a category, or they don't, you can't inject your opinion in to it. I trusted you to fix the ones that were wrong. I guess I shouldn't count on that. I'll get around to fixing them when I have some time to dedicate to it. Procyon 02:00, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Wait, now I'm confused by your response. It's fine if Kirby's Return to Dream Land is in the Wii U category, I have no problem with that. But it doesn't belong in the Wii U VC category. That's not correct. But DK Jr. Math absolutely belongs in the Wii U VC category, and does not belong in the Wii U category. Not sure if you were referring to those games or to something else. Procyon 02:03, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I just wanted to apologize in advance sorry if your offended by this but I wasn't 100℅ sure about this big change about what should and shouldn't be in the Wii U Category and some of the Wii titles like Punch-Out!! (Wii), Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are just a few in the virtual console category but I won't put Donkey Kong Jr. Math -- RodKimble (talk) 04:51, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Lastly you download them from the Nintendo eShop so they would count as Wii U VC titles. -- RodKimble (talk) 18:58, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Difference between programmed and emulated

Hi RK. Before I begin, I want to apologize in advance if I go into a lot of detail about stuff you already know, but I don't know what you're familiar with and what you're not, so I'm just going to explain it as if you're not an expert on the subject.

There are potentially three different phases of a video game's commercial life. The first phase is when the game is first created and published on one or several platforms. That's the initial release, and there's no misunderstanding about how we categorize this phase. It belongs in the categories of the platforms it was released on.

The second phase is the remake phase. This is when the original design of the game is remade or reprogrammed for a different (presumably newer) platform than the one is was originally released on. In this case, they start from scratch, and program the old game to take advantage of the new hardware.

The third phase is an emulated phase. This is where they take the old code from the original game, and pump it through an emulator so that you can play the original game on a piece of hardware that it was never designed to run on. All Virtual Console games fall under this third category. No one actually wrote a program to play that specific game, they just wrote one emulator program to play back any game that was originally released for a particular system.

So let's use Donkey Kong Country as an example. It was originally created to be played on the SNES, so naturally, it belongs in the SNES Category. It was later remade by writing the whole program over so that it would run properly on the Game Boy Advance. So since it was rewritten, it belongs in the GBA category. Now, when they released it for Virtual Console, all they did was take the SNES program and run it through a SNES emulator on the Wii. What people are playing is the original SNES program, just interpreted by a program so that the Wii can display the video, and accept input from the controller. As far as the program is concerned, it actually thinks it's running on a SNES, and can't tell the difference. So in this case, it does not belong in the Wii category because no one sat down and wrote a Wii program to play Donkey Kong Country. The same emulator being used to play DKC is being used to play Mega Man X, and Super Mario World, and Street Fighter II, etc.

So do you understand the distinction, and why VC games should not be categorized under the Wii or Wii U or 3DS? And even if they are not in those categories, they are still in their respective VC categories, so they're not lost, they're just sorted differently. Please let me know if this makes sense to you, and if you have any questions. Procyon 00:06, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

I guess so it's just, I've played these games in there original version and Wii/Wii U version and has been exactly the same gameplay. I just think the ones I put on there deserve to be on there some of them not all of them. And I know you all are trying to make this site better. -- RodKimble (talk) 04:15, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Ban warning

RK, I hope that you take this seriously. Your last edit to Donkey Kong 64 where you added a Wii U category was incorrect. You've been warned about this several times now. As much as I don't want to do it, you are now under a ban warning. If I see you add the wrong category to games again, I will have no choice but to ban you for a short period of time. You are a valued contributor, but you are now intentionally ignoring the instructions that you have been given. I've asked you to stop categorizing games because you cannot be trusted to do it correctly. Furthermore, just because something is downloaded from Nintendo's e-shop does not make it a Virtual Console game. You clearly do not understand the distinction. Please work on something else. Thank you. Procyon 20:57, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Sprry in advance That's going to be stupid for banning me for helping out I'm doing whatever I want to do your not helping me out by disagreeing with me by saying what belongs in the Wii U Category or not if you banned me that's not looking good for a member like you. You shouldn't be like this to me and you shouldn't be a staff on this website if your acting like this. -- RodKimble (talk) 21:01, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
As has been explained to you multiple times, if a game has the Wii U Virtual Console category, it doesn't go in the Wii U category. This is policy, and not adhering to policy is what will result in bans, not because you had a disagreement with someone. The reason it's like this is because of redundancy: if a game is in the Wii U Virtual Console category, then it's redundant to also put it in the Wii U category, as this is easily deduced from the "Wii U" portion of "Wii U Virtual Console". In the case of DK64, it was released as a Virtual Console game, and so it goes only in the Virtual Console category. It's otherwise the exact same game as the original. If it had been updated for Wii U (like what was done for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker), then it would go in the Wii U category - but it wasn't, so it doesn't. --Moydow T · C 21:31, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I'm just saying nobody's dying because I'm putting Virtual Console games on the Wii U Category if everyone is disagreeing with me even though I'm used to doing it if you banned me from me being used to doing that. That is stupid for doing that. I'm going to keep doing because I'm used to that. -- RodKimble (talk) 21:41, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
We work on this site based on discussion and consensus. If you're interested in working with us to grow the great repository of info we already have, welcome. If you want to do your own thing, you can do that somewhere else. You've contributed some great things so far, so I'd hate for you to leave, but that's your choice. -- Prod (talk) 21:47, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Let me be perfectly clear about a few things. It would be really crappy of me to ban you without any kind of warning. Instead, I gave you a very clear indication of what the consequences of your actions are if you continue to do them. And I also expressed that I don't want to have to do it. Let me lay out the facts.
 1. You made a few mistakes when adding categories to guides.
 2. We (the admins) brought the mistakes to your attention. We asked you to stop making them.
 3. You argued your side of the matter, stating that you preferred that the games be categorized both ways.
 4. All of the admins listened to your argument, but we all agreed on the current policy, which is in opposition to your own.
 5. We made the new policy very clear to you, and you proceeded to defy it.
 6. I asked you specifically to stop working on front pages, and you still continued to defy the policy.
 7. Now you are being told that you are on ban warning, and you still continued to defy the policy.
At this point, I am clearly within my rights to ban you for 24 hours, but I'm going to give you one more chance. Many people, including myself, have pointed out that you are considered a valuable contributor, but being a valued contributor in no way gives you any permission to ignore the rules. Ignoring the rules will have the same consequences for you as it does for everyone else. This is you very last chance. If you don't like the rules, that's fine, you don't have to contribute here. But if you want to contribute here, you have to follow the rules, regardless of what you're "used to doing," period. Procyon 21:58, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
If you all think it's the best thing to do is agree with Procyon on this than whatever you all think is better for this site am I right or no. If this is the last thing I'm going to say if I do get banned from this Wikipedia than thanks for a great first time on writing about video games I also added an account on Nookipedia my second account I tried Mario wiki but they had to many people on there but I would like to stay but if I do add another virtual console on the Categories of Wii U/3DS/Wii sorry I advance and get banned it was awesome meeting everyone. -- RodKimble (talk) 22:05, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
RK, the one thing that I (and a few others) find bizarre about this whole situation is the way you react to this. You act as if you have no control over what happens. As if you have no control over whether you follow the rules or "accidentally" break them. You're hearing multiple people say they value your contributions, we're just asking you to stop one particular behavior, and regardless of what you say, you absolutely do have control over your choices. I am certain you know very well when you are categorizing something incorrectly. I am also certain that you feel you are correct about it, but like I said before, it's not about how you feel. Don't disown your actions by claiming that if you get banned from the site, it will be through no fault of your own. That would be a loss for both this wiki and for you. (As NotMyHandle explained to you above, we're not a "Wikipedia," we're a wiki.) I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm certain that you're old enough to take responsibility for your actions, and correct your mistakes when they're pointed out to you. Don't cop out by claiming you have no control over those things. If you really want to improve, this is your opportunity. Don't waste it. Procyon 22:47, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I'm just saying that's what everyone says on here if there's a problem on here get rid of it like the Virtual Console problems it will make this wiki better. I personally don't know what's the problem with having them on two categories they are more organized with them on both categories and they are playable on those consoles as well. -- RodKimble (talk) 23:11, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
You simply have to accept that we disagree. For those who feel opposite from you, it's a matter of accuracy, and we pride ourselves on being accurate. Putting a game like Donkey Kong 64 in the Wii U category is inaccurate. That suggests that the game was made for the Wii U, and it was not. It wasn't made to take advantage of high definition graphics, it can't take advantage of the Wii U's better graphics processor, and it wasn't programmed to make use of the Wii U gamepad. Therefore: It's not a Wii U game. It's as simple as that. I know it won't kill anyone if it gets categorized like that, but if you've been asked not to do something, we would appreciate it if you at least made an attempt to listen. That's really all we ask. I'm not going to pester you about the issue any longer, and I hope you can understand where we're coming from. Thank you for listening. Procyon 23:28, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
But the controls are used on the Wii U GamePad and yes about the HD Graphics. And another thing is that when I talk to people about those games they never talk about virtual console on my Wii U/3DS and Wii just if I've download this game on my Wii U System and Nintendo also stated to download original console games to the new system instead of using your original. I don't know what else to say about this hopefully in the future i can change everyones mind about this whole thing, if i do get kicked out sorry for disobeying everyones orders on this wiki I'm probably not making sense by not shortening my senteces on here again. -- RodKimble (talk) 00:16, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

The only person who looks bad is you

Dude, this is ridiculous. Grow up and learn how to accept defeat like a mature human being. Do you know how many times I've been overruled on this site? Not once did I throw a tantrum about it and try this stupid "divide and conquer" crap that you're doing on the Staff Lounge. You're WRONG about this, and whining about it isn't going to convince anyone that you're right. I don't know why you're incapable of understanding the distinction, and frankly at this point, I don't care. If you disobey our requests, you will be banned. You can threaten us all you want, people with greater technical sophistication than you have tried and they've all failed, so I'm not really concerned about you. Help us here, or don't, but quit being a gigantic baby about losing a stupid argument. I'm done responding to you about this, but I will be scrutinizing your edits very closely from now on. Procyon 18:42, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

No your the one looking bad by saying you were going to stop trying to convince me yesterday day and your still going on about how your right and I'm probably more mature than you Procyon. Lastly I'm just trying to help out on this wiki by making it a better place and your not dying because I put Virtual Console games on the right category they belong and I know you know that I'm right about this. -- RodKimble (talk) 18:56, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

You have been banned for 24 hours. Please work with the other users here instead of making threats. -- Prod (talk) 19:13, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

I spoke with the "creater" of the site too...

He told me that in order to do all the things you asked me to do, you first need to post on Notmyhandle's, Moydow's, and E-123Wario54's talk page and tell them how awesome you think they are, and how you'd like to be more like them when you grow up, and if you do that, we'll make all the changes you want. But you only have 24-hours to do it, or you will get banned again for not writing on their talk page. You better hurry up! The creater means business, he does not like to be kept waiting! Go! Go! Go! Procyon 19:36, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Congratulations, you are one step closer to having the policy changed on this site. There's only one more challenge. You have to tell us the name of the creator of this site. But not his normal name. His super secret name that only Prod and I would know. You only get 4 hours for this challenge. Good luck! Procyon 19:46, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, that's not the name we're looking for. He goes by a different name now. The clock is ticking! Procyon 19:51, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Because you spoke with him. He told me he likes you, and that you and him are good pals, so he told you his secret name not too long ago. You can ask him again if you have to, he'll tell you what it is. Procyon 20:03, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
It's cool, don't worry. I spoke with him, and he's waiting for you to get in touch with him. Just contact him in the usual way, and he'll tell you the answer. But he'll only be available in the next hour or two, so you better hurry! I believe in you! Procyon 20:12, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Banned for 48 hours

You've been banned from editing on the site for 48 hours for adding the Wii U category to Mega Man, and for adding a colon to F-Zero Climax. If you continue to vandalize the site, you will be banned for longer and longer periods of time until you are no longer welcome to edit at all. And yes, the conversation above was a joke because we knew you were lying to us. Procyon 21:45, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Why

Why is this member blocked he was an awesome staff on this website

Brian Suit original owner

Please unblock this users this is Brain Suit aka Echelon or I will delete your account Procyon and Prod

about banned

Why did I get banned for telling the truth if you all think I'm lying I want the owner on here to say something about it and I wasn't lying I'm telling the truth and why is everyone letting Procyon and Prod treat me like this I know everyone knows I'm right about this whole situation when I come back I'm doing whatever I feel like doing without Procyon and Prod telling me what to do you are not watching over me NotMyHandle is the one watching over me so I'm more mature than both of them Prod and Procyon

Goodbye

I can't work with two people that thinks I would lie to them I would never lie if you met me and my friends they would tell you I never lie goodbye to awesome people even you Procyon and Prod and sorry for being mean to both of you -- RodKimble (talk) 02:55, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

You may continue to make contributions as long as they are within the guidelines of the rules of the site. You may not add the Wii U category to games which belong in the Wii U Virtual Console category. If you do, you will be banned for longer and longer periods of time. There is no exception to this rule. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. End of discussion. Procyon 23:35, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
I am also adding another rule, specifically for you. If you ask anyone on the staff to change the rules for you any more, that will also lead to you being banned. The matter is closed. Asked again, and you won't be permitted to contribute anymore. We've wasted enough time on this. Procyon 23:37, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Please look in your heart Procyon that's all I'm asking for you to help another member out pretty please? -- RodKimble (talk) 23:39, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Permanent ban with conditional return

I'm changing the terms of this ban. From now on, you will be permanently banned from editing on the site until you make the following two promises:

 1. You will promise to accept the rule regarding not adding a Wii U category to titles that belong in the Wii U Virtual Console category, and
 2. You will promise not to ask anyone to change the rule for you.

Until you promise to abide by these two requests, you are not welcome to contribute to this site. And if you do make these promises and break them, you will be banned from the site forever, with no chance of ever returning. Procyon 23:48, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Please Procyon come on just look in your heart, that's not a big change and I didn't ask anyone else besides Prod because he banned me before you did and thought you both owned this website now. That's the only reason and can't we have a vote on this the only reason I posted it on the Staff Lounge because so we could have a vote. -- RodKimble (talk) 23:59, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
I banned you for making threats, nothing else. At least 2 other admins apart from Procyon and me have seen the discussion and no one else has agreed with you so far. Policies are changed when many people agree that it's correct. Many of us are big Nintendo fans, which is why we're a part of NIWA, but we still believe in accuracy. -- Prod (talk) 02:41, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Please Everyone

Who are the other two besides Prod and Procyon agree with this and you all are letting Procyon ban me forever can't you all look in your heart to help another member out please and why is everyone gaining on me on this. -- RodKimble (talk) 04:51, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

To avoid confusion, it'd probably be best to specify that games are Virtual Console games. If something were on Wii U VC for example, it'd be understood it's playable on Wii U and redundant to also categorize it here as a Wii U title. If something is listed as VC, then that makes it clear it's a game on an older system just ported to a newer one. If it's listed as Wii U only, or Wii U and VC, people might think that there are two separate versions. If such a thing were to happen, like if Nintendo remade Minish Cap and made it downloadable or something, then it would make sense to add that category. Otherwise, it's best to keep things organized by listing VC titles as such. Ramza66 (talk) 05:33, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

So you see how there playable on Wii U

Sorry I can't write on the same one because Procyon blocked me but thanks for someone for at least replying to my plead I wish they would put me back in but Procyon will never change his mind I wish you could help me get back by talking to them about bringing me back. If you don't want to that's fine thanks for atleast replying. I wish I could've gotten to know you better -- RodKimble (talk) 05:45, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't know why I'm bothering to reply to this, you've proven yourself absolutely impossible to reason with. Nevertheless, if you read Ramza66's post more closely, you would have noticed that he actually agree's with the staff, not you, about the matter. That's another vote against you. And I will change my mind about allowing you back in, provided you:
 1. promise to accept the rule regarding not adding a Wii U category to titles that belong in the Wii U Virtual Console category, and
 2. promise not to ask anyone to change the rule for you.
It's that simple. We know that you were the anonymous user who added the Wii U category to two Donkey Kong titles last night. I don't know how old you are, or if you have any other mitigating circumstances, but as far as your participation on this site is concerned, you have to learn to work within the rules and guidelines set up by the staff, and you can't have things your way just because you want them and you think you're right. That's the way life goes, in the real world as well as this site. If you can't learn that, then you have much bigger problems than your inability to contribute to this site. This is seriously the last I'm going to say about it. Accept it or don't. Your ability to write on your talk page is a courtesy that we've extended to you, it can be taken away as well. Procyon 15:38, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Reason with me

Please Procyon I'm just trying to reason with you and I'm also being nice by apologising for lying and saying I was going to have this website site shut down and I saw you blocked another user but only for one day for cussing at you but I get blocked forever trying to reason with you that's all I'm asking of the owner of this website look in your heart Procyon and I bet everyone on here will agree I've been nothing but nice I even apologized to Prod as well. -- RodKimble (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

If you want people to reason with you, I suggest you don't try things like this. We have ways of finding out if you're behind these edits. --Moydow T · C 01:21, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

That's why

That's why I do it because I know you all know and want you all agree for one this change please look into all your hearts to let me back I miss everyone here but Procyon, Prod and Moydow won't let me back. Just because those games are backwards compatible with the Wii U/3DS and Wii console's via download. -- RodKimble (talk) 01:56, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Don't bait the troll

I'm asking all admins to refrain from communicating with this user. It's a waste of everyone's time, and it only inspires him to repeat the same pleas. At this point, I think the communication means more to him than the ability to edit. Procyon 02:04, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

What do you want from me

I already apologized for lying and saying I was going to have this website shut down. Just one little thing isn't going to kill everyone on here I'm being nice to everyone I'm not being rude anymore please everyone just help a member out and help me get back to the way it was when this wiki made sense. That's the only thing please I've been so unhappy since I have been banned. -- RodKimble (talk) 02:24, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Can't edit besides my talk

I can't edit any other page besides my talk page so if I was unbanned I would edit a bunch of pages -- RodKimble (talk) 02:27, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Why are you treating me like trash Procyon :(

Is everyone gonna just sit quietly and not say anything to Procyon treating me like garbage I've told him over and over and over again how sorry I was for saying I was lying and saying I was going to have this website shut down. But he still and still and still treats me like trash and garbage. I wish someone would help Procyon understand for me please let me back. This isn't you Procyon I know there's a nice person inside you wanting to let me back and agree with me on this. Please I've been so unhappy ever since I've been banned. ): -- RodKimble (talk) 05:10, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

I promise

I promise not to put Wii download games on the Wii U VC category -- RodKimble (talk) 07:38, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
