Speed Racing[edit]

Time: 55 seconds
Record: 1'33"688

Once Skier #27 has appeared at the top of the slope, with four other CPU-controlled skiers (Skier #3, Skier #7, Skier #8, and Skier #11) on either side of him, the text "READY" will appear upon the start line, as the view changes to first-person (but you can change it to third-person by pressing the Decision Button, and back again by pressing it again); once it has changed to "GO", you shall have to push the inner edge up to make Skier #27 start his descent down the slope and pass eight billboards for Goldwin and Namco on both sides of the track. You shall now have to turn to the right as you pass a ninth, flashing billboard with a right-pointing arrow on it on the left side of the track - and once you have done so, you will have to turn to the right again, as you pass a tenth (flashing) billboard with a right-pointing arrow on it on the left side of the track. You'll now have to pass between two more regular billboards with flying snowboarders on them on both sides of the track as Skier #27 skis off the end of a ramp and through the air; once he's landed you shall have to pass between six trees. You then have to turn to the left as you pass twelve more regular billboards (the next five are for Goldwin, but the eighteenth one has a left-pointing arrow on it and the other six have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track - and once you have done so, you have to pass between two more (regular) billboards with flying snowboarders on them on both sides of the track as Skier #27 skis off the end of another ramp and through the air for a second time. Once he's landed again you will have to turn to the left as you pass five more regular billboards (the twenty-seventh one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next four have left-pointing chevrons on them) on that right side of the track; once you have done so, you'll have to turn to the right as you pass six more flashing billboards (the thirty-second one has a right-pointing arrow on it but the next five have right-pointing chevrons on them), on the left side of the track. You'll then have to pass under a checkpoint - and once you have done so, your remaining time is extended by twenty-eight seconds, as the text "TIME EXTENDED" flashes on the screen and you pass four more billboards for Goldwin and Namco on the left side of the track. You will then have to turn to the left as you pass four more regular billboards (the forty-second one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next three have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track; once you have done so, you shall have to turn to the right as you pass eight more billboards (the forty-sixth one is flashing and has a right-pointing arrow on it but the next seven are regular and have right-pointing chevrons on them), on the left side of the track. You will then have to turn to the left as you pass nine more regular billboards (the fifty-fourth one has a left-pointing arrow on it but the next eight have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track and pass under a second checkpoint - and once you've done it, your remaining time is extended by fourteen seconds, as the text "TIME EXTENDED" flashes on the screen again. You shall then have to turn to the right as you pass ten more regular billboards (the sixty-third, sixty-fifth, and sixty-seventh ones have pictures of Valkyrie dressed as Mrs. Claus on them, while the sixty-fourth, sixty-sixth and sixty-eighth ones have pictures of Pac-Man dressed as Santa Claus on them, the sixty-ninth one has a right-pointing arrow on it and the other three have right-pointing chevrons on them) on the left side of the track; once you have done so you have to pass between two more regular billboards with flying snowboarders on them on both sides of the track, as Skier #27 skis off the end of a third ramp and through the air for a third time. Once he has landed for a third time turn to the left as you pass six more flashing billboards (the seventy-fifth has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next five have left-pointing chevrons on them), then pass between eight more regular billboards for Goldwin on both sides of the track and under a railway bridge as a five-car diesel multiple-unit passes over it - and once you've done it you will have to turn to the right as you pass five more (regular) billboards (the eighty-ninth one has a right-pointing arrow on it, but the next four have right-pointing chevrons on them) on the left side of the track. You then have to turn to the left as you pass three more (regular) billboards with left-pointing chevrons on them on right side of the track; once you've done so you'll have to turn to the left again as you pass five more regular billboards (the ninety-seventh one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next four have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track. You will then have to turn to the left once again as you pass five more (regular) billboards (the 102nd one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next four have left-pointing chevrons on them) upon the right side of the track - and once you've done so, you shall have to turn to the right as you pass seven last regular billboards (the 107th one shows a right-pointing arrow, but the next six have right-pointing chevrons on them) on the left side of the track. Once you've passed under the finish line, your position and total time shall be displayed on the screen as Skier #27 comes to a halt; if your total time is less than 1'36"794 the game shall invoke "best-time" mode, so you should enter your initials on the course's table with pride (regardless of position) by using the two Selection Buttons (selecting the letters) then pressing the Decision Button (confirming them). Once you have done so, the text "GAME OVER. Look behind you before stepping off the steps" shall appear on the screen before the game goes back into attract mode - but this statement does not apply for MAME users.

Gate Racing[edit]

Time: 60 seconds (1:00)
Record: 1'41"356

Once Skier #27 has appeared at the top of the slope with a timekeeper (but no CPU-controlled skiers), the text "READY" will appear upon the screen, as the view changes to third-person (but you may change it to first-person with a press of the Decision Button, and back again with a second one); once the on-screen text has changed to "GO", you will have to push the inner edge up to make Skier #27 start his descent down the slope. In this mode, there are no checkpoints, but there are fifty pairs of gates that must be passed through (the odd-numbered pairs are blue, while the even-numbered ones are red, and each time Skier #27 passes between one, his time will get extended by one second as the text "EXTENDED" appears under it) - and once you have passed under the finish line, the text "GOAL" will appear on the screen with your gate percentage and total time below it as Skier #27 comes to a halt. If your total time was less than 1'55"283, the game shall go into "best-time" mode so you shall have to enter your initials upon the course's table with pride (regardless of position) by using the Selection Buttons to select the letters and pressing the Decision Button to confirm them; once you have done it, the text "GAME OVER. Look behind you before stepping off the steps." will appear upon the screen before the game goes back into attract mode (but if you were unfortunate enough to not pass through even one of the gate pairs, the game will not go into "best-time" mode after finishing even if your total time was less than 1'55"283). Once you have mastered this second course in both modes, you will have to move on to the Expert Course, which is 4km long, and when playing Speed Racing mode, you shall have 60 seconds to finish it (however, when playing Gate Racing mode, you shall have 70 seconds).
