Mage[edit]

The magic books contain spells for the Mages, Rangers and Rogues. While you can study specific spells from a given magic book, not all of them can be learned by a given class.

The following four books are the basic spells in books, which are purchased from the Magic store.

Magic for Beginners

The following five books are rare tomes of immense power. They are rare, and can only be found in the dungeon. However, they can not be destroyed like ordinary books.

Rogues can only case Shock Wave and Cloudkill from this book. Rangers can cast Cloudkill, Acid Ball, Ice Storm and Meteor Swarm.
Mordenkainen's Escapes

Tenser's Transformations

Rogues can only cast Bedlam from this tome. Rangers can cast Earthquake, Bedlam, and Word of Destruction.

Priest spells[edit]

Priest books contain a set of spells that can be used. However, you can only study the book itself to receive a random spell within the book.

Beginners Handbook

Detect Evil 1 1 1 1 Detects all evil monsters in the immediate area, for one turn only.
Cure Light Wounds 1 2 2 2 Cures 15% of your wounds (min 15hp) and heals 20 points worth of cuts.
Bless 1 2 3 3 Blesses you, giving a bonus of +5 to AC and +10 to-hit, for 12+1d12 turns.
Remove Fear 1 2 5 3 Removes fear.
Call Light 3 2 5 4 Lights up all squares in a level-dependant area, and hurts all light-sensitive monsters in the area of effect. If you are in a room, the entire room will be lit up as well.
Find Traps, Doors & Stairs 3 3 7 5 Detects all traps, doors, and stairs in the immediate area.
Slow Poison 3 3 9 7 Halves the remaining duration of any current poisoning.
Words of Wisdom

Scare Monster 9 7 Attempts to scare a single monster for a level-dependant duration. Uniques and monsters that resist fear are not affected.
Portal 9 8 Teleports you randomly over a short distance
Cure Serious Wounds 11 9 Cures 20% of your wounds (min 25hp) and heals all cut damage.
Chant 11 10 Blesses you, giving a bonus of +5 to AC and +10 to-hit for 24+1d24 turns.
Sanctuary 11 10 Attempts to put to sleep each monster directly adjacent to you. Uniques and monsters that resist sleep are not affected.
Satisfy Hunger 13 10 Magically renders you well-fed (but not satiated). This will also cure a bloated stomach.
Resist Heat and Cold 15 13 Gives you temporary resistance to cold and fire, for 10+1d10 turns each.
