In addition to the three Heart Containers you start with and the eight you can earn by completing the dungeons there are also five you can find on the world map.

You can only get this Heart Container between :20 and :28, and you must also only have one or no Triforce Shards; if you have two or more you can't get this piece even if you arrive at the right time. |

Once you have the Blue Candle, make your way to B-7 and burn down the tree. The Old Man will offer you either a Heart Container or a Red Water of Life. The one you don't choose will vanish, so go with the Heart Container. |

Once you have the Ladder, go to H-5 to get another Heart Container. |

This also requires the Ladder. Bomb the wall and enter the cave. Once again, the Old Man will offer you either a Heart Container or a Red Water of Life. Choose the Heart Container. |
