[edit] Items and Power-ups
Note: the instruction manual names these "Pick-ups".
| Name | Inventory icon | Power-up icon | Info
|
| Batarang
| | | Long ranged projectile. Fairly weak, only useful if you are low on health and the enemy is low on health. If you pick up a Batarang (looks like a black bat), you'll receive 4 of them. You can hold a maximum of 9 (you begin the game with five). Each Batarang deals 5 damage (even on bosses). Gives you 1,000 points.
|
| Batdisc
| | | The Batmobile's special projectile. This power-up gives the Batmobile 3 discs.
|
| Coin
| N/A | | Picked up by the Batskiboat, each one gives you 100 points.
|
| Grappling hook
| | N/A | Moves Batman to a hooked target. Only works on certain objects. Also used to kill flying toy helicopters.
|
| Life box
| | | Gives you an entire extra meter; if you lose all of your bars of life, it automatically replenishes your meter. An icon appears at the bottom right of the screen if you have one. Gives 2,500 points.
|
| Life heart (large)
| N/A | | Gives you 16 bars of life (1/2 of your entire meter) and 500 points.
|
| Life heart (small)
| N/A | | Gives you 8 bars of life (1/4 of your entire meter). Gives 250 points.
|
| Test tube
| N/A | | Automatically damages Catwoman for 50% of her health when engaged. Gives 300 points.

[edit] Points
Points do two things: provide bragging rights, and reward you with certain bonuses. You receive points by hitting enemies (each successful attack gives you points) and acquiring items. Every time you earn an additional 10,000 points (this counter resets if you continue), you will receive health equal to one Large Heart.
- Attacks: 10 points.
- Killing a normal enemy: 100-200 points.
- Killing Catwoman: 8,500 points.
