Winlan[edit]

When Ryu first arrives in Winlan, he may see an Inn. Skip it, as he gets a free stay at the castle. Head directly to the castle, and try meeting with the king. He is currently ill, and you'll be sent to rest for the night, and get to control Nina for most of the chapter.

Before departing with Nina, make sure you have at least 18 herbs, and 9 antidotes. You will be up against monsters that can inflict poison, and you will have to deal with at least one boss that can soak damage. Nina also has access to chests in the basement, and can obtain three herbs and one antidote from there.

Aura Cave[edit]

The Aura Cave connects Winlan with Romero. There are a few monsters, and chests, but it's otherwise not too special.

Treasure:

  • I.Ore - this is found in the main watery section, and seems to be useful for a blacksmith.

Romero[edit]

Romero is a small village, which reports that their women are missing, but that they have also received remedy (and avoided death.) In addition, there are zombies causing problems with the village. For now, you can deal with the missing women (the same task as obtaining the Remedy).

Treasure:

  • Look for a building that has a hole. On the left, push the urns so that you can reach the barrel. Push that to the left, and search that area to get the world map.
  • Enter the north-east building, enter the second floor, and retrieve ProtnB from the clothes chest.

Exit Romero by the west exit. Travel west through the forest, and you'll eventually reach Karma tower.

Karma[edit]

Karma tower is a few stories tall.

[[File:BoF Karma Boss Morte.png|thumb|right| There is a creature on the first floor blocking the path you need to use. He is Morte. The boss follows a simple attack pattern, but will inflict 20 damage per hit. As long as you keep your health up, he should pose no problem. He has 113 + 7 HP.

In the two-pit room, choose the east pit to be able to reach the top floor.

The next miniboss is with Mortea. Mortea has twice the health of Morte (208 + 28HP), but otherwise seems identical. As with the other boss, follow the same tactic of healing when health gets low. You can also try to use the attack-up spell or defense up in order to make things easier.

When you cross to the second tower, and rescue the civilians, you need to head to the basement to retrieve the Remedy. However, the wizard arrives, and attacks Maia and the soldiers with Xeon Gas. As the wizard is immune to anything the party can do, the only option is to try to run. In the cutscene, only one soldier gets back to Winlam, but allows Ryu to return to the castle and mount the rescue.

Make sure Ryu has at least 9 herbs before exiting Winlam. Land on Karma castle, and head to the basement again. You can optionally check the chest at the left of the basement (which restores HP and AP), but it won't provide significant benefit at this point.

When fighting the Wizard, simply attack him whenever you can, and heal if your health drops below 25. The wizard will have high defense as the battle progresses, but it's nothing you can't overcome yourself.

Treasure list:

  • 1st floor:
    • Life2 (Southwest isolated room)
    • Charm (Southeast isolated room)
    • M-Drop (Southeast corner)
  • 2nd floor:
    • M Drop (Northwest isolated room)
    • Cure (East of Mortea)
  • 3rd floor:
    • Herb (4-pit room)
  • Basement:
  • 2 Herbs

Once you rescue Nina, you can head to the basement of Winlan Castle and take the tunnel to the east.
