Controls[edit]

  • D-Pad/Left Stick: Use the D-Pad or Left Stick, to make Bugs run, climb up objects, and slide down objects; in the Windows version, this is replicated by the arrow keys. It can also be used in conjunction with Circle button (Windows version: S) to make Bugs sneak (walk slowly and quietly) when he has to.
  • Cross button: Use this button to make Bugs jump; in the Windows version, this move is replicated with the D key. Bugs also jumps off ledges automatically, and it can also again be used in conjunction with Circle button (Windows: S) while Bugs is falling to slow his descent (he will use his ears like a helicopter).
  • Square button: Use this button to make Bugs kick with his left foot, or throw an object if he holds one; in the Windows version this is replicated by the F key.
  • Triangle button: Push and hold this button to switch to a first-person view of Bugs' surroundings and use the D-Pad or Left Stick to look around; in the Windows version, this is replicated by the A key and the arrow keys. Also, once you've learned the positions of the items, this function becomes redundant.
  • R1 button: Push this button when there is a question mark (or exclamation mark) over Bugs' head to get an answer to his question (or activate objects); in the Windows version this is replicated with the R key. It can also be used in conjunction with Cross button (Windows: D) while Bugs is over a rabbit hole to make him dive into it - however, if the hole is not directly underneath Bugs, he shall smash his head into the ground (but get right back up again).
  • L1 button: Push this button to make Bugs roll towards enemies, or through small holes in walls; in the Windows version, this is replicated by the E key.
  • L2 button and R2 button: Use these buttons to rotate the camera clockwise and anticlockwise; for the Windows version they are replicated with Q and W.
  • Alt+F4: In the Windows version, press these two keys simultaneously to exit the application without getting prompted if you really want to quit.

Items[edit]

Normal Carrots[edit]

Whenever Bugs is hit by an enemy, he will lose half a carrot from his energy bar (a full one in extreme cases), but it can be refilled by collecting Normal Carrots; when he runs out of energy (or falls into water or a pit), he will get sent back to the start of the current area (or the last Checkpoint he passed). Bugs has an infinite amount of lives to expend, but when he collects a Normal Carrot with full energy (three full carrots), it will go towards the amount of ninety-nine which can be exchanged for one of the five transparent Golden Carrots in the level selector areas - and once Bugs has ninety-nine carrots to exchange for a transparent Golden Carrot, it will become solid when he runs up to it and allow him to collect it, resetting the value of Normal Carrots.

Golden Carrots[edit]

Golden Carrots provide access to the three bonus levels Wabbit or Duck Season?, La Corrida and Downhill Duck; there are a total of 333 in the game.

Clocks[edit]

Clocks provide access to all other levels when collected; Bugs needs 120 of them to return to the present day, but there are a total of 124 in the game.

Acme Boxes[edit]

At the starts of eight "specific" levels: Hey...What's Up, Dock?, The Greatest Escape, What's Cookin', Doc?, "Witch" Way to Albuquerque?, The Carrot-Henge Mystery, Magic Hare Blower, The Carrot Factory, and Mine or Mine?, Merlin will appear in front of Bugs with a rotating Acme Box over his head and tell him: "Get five/seven/ten of these objects to receive a Clock symbol."; when Bugs comes to an Acme Box, he must smash it by jumping on it or kicking it, causing two (or three) Normal Carrots and a rotating number between 1 and 9 to emerge from it. However, when he smashes the last one in the level, a Clock will emerge instead - and if Bugs does not smash all the Acme Boxes in a level and leaves it, the ones he did smash will be returned the next time he goes back to it (it's also not worth smashing them on your first visit to a level you can't smash all of them on the first time as a result!).

Magical Abilities[edit]

Super Jump[edit]

When you press R1 button (Windows: R) to make Bugs talk to Merlin in the "Sorcerer's Tower" area of the Forgotten Woods in the aforementioned "What's Cookin', Doc?" level, he shall tell him that he cannot help him now because Witch Hazel has stolen his Magic Cookbook; once Bugs goes back outside, he will see Witch Hazel standing by the previously unattended cauldron on the other side of the river. Once she sees him, she will start running towards him, and try to flatten him with her broomstick - but when she runs under a revolving shadow on the ground, an anvil will fall on her, causing her to drop the Magic Cookbook. Once Bugs has caught it and returned it to Merlin, he will teach him to say "Olley-olley-oxen-free" over a spring symbol in order to jump to a higher level; although the level Follow the Red Pirate Road only requires eleven Clocks to open, Bugs cannot enter it until he learns the spell.

Magical Tune[edit]

When you press R1 button (Windows: R) to make Bugs talk to Merlin at the end of the aforementioned "'Witch' Way to Albuquerque?" level, he shall teach him a magical tune, that activates several devices when played over a musical note symbol; the tune in question is Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms and the piano in the aforementioned "Greatest Escape" level exploding after it's played on it refers to the 1951 short Ballot Box Bunny.

Magical Fan[edit]

When you press R1 button (Windows: R) to make Bugs talk to Merlin in that introductory "Frozen Duck Valley" area of that aforementioned "Carrot-Henge Mystery" level, he will teach him to say "Hocus-pocus" over a fan symbol to reach a too-high ground or object; the fans that appear when activated are on a timer, and once it runs out, they will disappear again (but if Bugs did not reach what he was attempting to, he can always reactivate them again!).

Magical Password[edit]

When you press R1 button (Windows: R) to make Bugs talk to Merlin in the "Carrot-Henge" area of that aforementioned "Carrot-Henge Mystery" level, he will tell him to find the five missing stone signs and the Clock he is looking for will appear there in Carrot-Henge, and teach him to say "Open sesame" over a key symbol to open a magic door; again, if Bugs does not open all the magic doors in a level and leaves it, the ones he did open will be closed the next time he returns to it. In the PlayStation version, it is also possible to grant Bugs all four magical abilities immediately by holding L2 button and R1 button while in a level selector area, then pressing Cross button, Square button, R2 button, L1 button, Circle button, Cross button, Square button, Circle button and Square button - but there is no equivalent of it in the Windows version.
