One of the more ingenious features of Cabal Online is the War functionality. Upon reaching level 52, a nation alignment quest is made available. Players can align themselves with one of two nations — Capella or Procyon. There is no benefit between choosing one or the other. However, Nation alignment is optional. Switching sides (e.g. changing from Capella to Procyon or vice versa) is possible using a premium Cash Shop item, or if you picked your nation at lv 52, you can choose again at lv 95.

At certain times every day, a dedicated War Channel is opened. This special war channel is called "Tierra del Brutto" for people Lv 52-94 and "Tierra Gloriosa" for people Lv 95 or above. In this channel, 100 Procyons and 100 Capellas go against each other on a special map where a variety of special items are available. Players will have to defend bases, destroy bases, build towers, and defeat the opposing nation. The aim in War is to accumulate more points then the opposing nation. The winning nation is the nation who scored the higher points. There are different ways to gain points; by killing the opposing nation, capturing more points, capturing their base, or by destroying their guardians. The victor is announced across the entire server.

Player Killing during War[edit]

A channel is also available that allows a constant state of War. This channel is marked with a "(War)" tag. Normally, to PK a character, you must target a character, then hold the Shift key while selecting a skill. During a War state, players do not need to do this, and can freely attack a player of the opposing nation as if they were an in-game monster. It's said that the best character to play with in the constant state of War are Warriors , because of their high damage and HP who makes them almost godlike. They are most likely to be the last ones standing on war. Warriors are also accompained by their rivals the Bladers who have enough damage to make the warrior's job more difficult as they specialize on the velocity of their attacks.

During a War state, players that have not declared a nation (i.e. are Neutral) will be shown with an Orange name. Players that have declared an opposing nation (i.e. are enemies to your nation) will be shown with a Red name. You cannot interact with these players. As with normal PKing, potions may be used, and there are no Death Penalties.

In certain maps, War PKing is permitted constantly, even when players are not on Tierra Gloriosa or the (War) Channel. Such maps include Forgotten Ruin and Lakeside.

Rewards[edit]

After successfully PKing an opposing player, the player will win Honor Points. The amount he wins is determined by the following equation:

The Reward will be a minimum of 10 Honor Points.

Other Rewards In War-state maps, such as Forgotten Ruin and Lakeside, the player will also gain Honor Points by killing the monsters there. The amount he wins is determined by the following equation:

The player can obtain a minimum of 1 Honor Point, and a maximum of 3 Honor Points per monster.

War Experience System[edit]

This system is currently only available in a few versions.

The War Experience system was released by Korea CABAL on March 18, 2008. In this system, players can trade points that they obtain in Tierra Gloriosa for Experience, Honor Points, or Skill experience. This replaces the PvP betting system, which was terribly abused in mostly all versions of the game.

The following is the formula for how much War Experience a player gain in Tierra Gloriosa

Where:

  • VDB = 1 if you lose, 2 if you win.

A applies if the Platinum/Diamond Service or a Blessing Bead Plus is used

  • A = 1 if the player has neither
  • A = 1.25 if the player have Platinum/Diamond service or a Blessing Bead Plus but not both
  • A = 1.5 if the player have both the Platinum/Diamond service and a Blessing bead Plus.

The player's score is calculated as follows:

  • DamageDoneinTG and DamageTakeninTG are self explanatory.
  • Towerbuildingscore applies when you have built towers on Permanent FT Panels or Portable FT Panels.
  • Heal Score applies only to characters with a Healing skill. Most of the time, Force Archers will get this bonus, while Force Shielders can also get the bonus if they use their heal skill.

If the score the player gets in Tierra Gloroisa calculates to 30 or lower, he will not gain War Experience for that Tierra Gloriosa session.

Recently, the game has added a system that will kick players out of Tierra Gloroisa and reset their score to zero if they have not gained points within a 10 minute period.

The rewards that one can get per 100 War Experience are the following. Note: This system cannot be used if the player's honor is negative.
