The Inner Quarters is accessible from the Dance Hall once you get the Skeleton Blaze soul. When you enter, you only have one path. Aside from the secrets, the only branches lead to an empty room, a save point, or a Chronomage that returns you to the previous room. The only remaining path brings you to the Headhunter.
The Headhunter is a three-stage boss. The first form will simply swing a dagger at you, while moving back and forth. The second form will fly around, and will occasionally use magic spells, creating either three lightning bolts, or two flaming heads. The final form is a lizard-like creature that crawls along the floor and ceiling, which attacks by flinging its tongue at you. It is most easily defeated using a bladed weapon.
When you defeat the Headhunter, proceed right and upwards. Collect the Undine soul, which allows you to walk on water when it is selected; it is located in the top-right corner of the outdoor room. This allows you to reach the Floating Garden from the Castle Corridor. You will also want to collect the poison sword as well.
You can reach the teleport room once you have the Undine soul. Once you jump from the water and reach the stairs, you can take the first exit to the left and continue to the end of the corridor.
While you can visit the first room of Top Floor from this region, you can't explore it yet.
Chronomage[edit]
After defeating Legion from the Underground Cemetery, you can get past him. At the end of this section, you can collect the second ancient book.
