Adventure Island (高橋名人の冒険島 Takahashi Meijin no Bōken Jima?, lit. "Master Takahashi's Adventure Island") is a series of platform games for Nintendo consoles, the first of which was released by Hudson Soft in 1986. Originally adapted from the arcade game Wonder Boy, Adventure Island games follow Master Higgins as he battles through platforming levels to save a girl from various foes. Later in the series, the female hostage was developed into a recurring character, Tina, who starts out as Higgins' girlfriend and later becomes his wife.
