There are many league and cup competitions in CM '93, and this section of the guide gives you all the information you need to know about them. There are 4 leagues or divisions and 7 cup competitions (3 domestic and 4 European).

Divisions[edit]

  • Each division contains 20 teams
  • Teams in a division plays each other twice (home and away) making 38 games per season
  • 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a loss
  • The team finishing top of the FA Premier division are the overall league champions

Promotion[edit]

In the Divisions 1, 2 and 3 the top two teams at the end of a season are promoted to the league above. The next four teams (places 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) qualify for the promotion playoffs.

Relegation[edit]

The bottom 3 teams at the end of a season are relegated to the division below. Except for Division 3, where only the bottom team is relegated is relegated out of the football league entirely. Any team relegated from Division 3 is out of the game and their manager will be sacked.

European qualification[edit]

  • The team that finishes 1st in the FA Premier qualifies to play in the European Cup the following season.
  • The team that finishes 2nd in the FA Premier qualifies for the UEFA Cup.

Playoffs[edit]

The playoffs are used to add a little excitement to the end of the season in Divisions 1, 2 and 3. In each of these three divisions the teams finishing in places 3rd - 6th go into a mini tournament and the winner is promoted to the division above.

  • The first stage of the playoffs is the semi-final
  • The team that finished in 3rd place plays against the team in 6th place
  • The team in 4th place plays the team in 5th place
  • Semi-finals are played over 2 legs (home and away games)
  • The winner on aggregate of each semi-final goes through to the final
  • The final is a one-off match played at Wembley Stadium
  • Extra-time and penalties are used to decided the final if necessary
