Civilization Revolution is an iteration of Civilization developed by Firaxis, with Sid Meier as designer, for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A Wii version was originally expected but was put on indefinite hold.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were released in Europe on June 13, 2008 with the Nintendo DS edition following on August 29. All three versions are set for a US release on July 8, 2008.

Sid Meier has been enthusiastic about this installment, being quoted in both the press release and trailer as saying, "This is the game I've always wanted to make."

A demo was released on Xbox Live Marketplace and the North American PlayStation Store on June 5, 2008, allowing players to play until 1250 AD as Cleopatra or Julius Caesar, with limited online play options.

In the transition to consoles, some of the depth of previous Civilization games has been sacrificed for faster, more accessible gameplay. The game has five difficulty levels ranging from Chieftain to Deity, and there are four paths to victory: Economic, Domination, Cultural and Technological.
