Civilization Revolution is a turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS in 2008. An iOS version followed in 2009. A Wii version was planned but was later cancelled.
Sid Meier wsa enthusiastic about this installment, being quoted in both the press release and trailer as saying, "This is the game I've always wanted to make". A demo was released on Xbox Live Marketplace and the North American PlayStation Store on June 5, 2008, allowing players to play until 1250 AD as Cleopatra or Julius Caesar, with limited online play options.
In the transition to consoles, some of the depth of previous Civilization games has been sacrificed for faster, more accessible gameplay. The game has five difficulty levels ranging from Chieftain to Deity, and there are four paths to victory: Economic, Domination, Cultural and Technological.
