Here are the features you should be familiar with.

Arcade[edit]

A normal single race, going head to head with other vehicles. Also has time trial if you like to beat the clock without getting distracted.

Campaign[edit]

Go on this journey from Paris to Dakar on a series of courses you need to beat as the clock is counting down.

Multiplayer[edit]

Up to two on the GameCube and PS2 or four on the Xbox in a similar arcade race.

Quick race[edit]

Let's you get a jump into the race with the computer setting up for you to compete in.

Special tips[edit]

If you are taking down the course of this rally genre, here are the extra features to watch out for:

  • You have damage icons appearing as you take your vehicle into a crash course. Four damage areas are engine, shock, steering and tyres. The damage level goes from grey to yellow to orange to red.
  • Your co-pilot will tell you how tight the turn is. Example: easy left, hard right. He'll also call out road features (junctions, forks, etc.) and hazards (crests, jumps, etc.).
  • Steering can be over or under sensitive. Pause the game and tune between one to five to your comfort level.
  • Your workshop would give you a chance to decide how your vehicle handles the terrain. Simply tyre compound adjusts grip that's suitable to tarmac or desert platform, tyre pressure adjusts the strength of the grip through pounds per square inch or PSI, gear ratio adjusts the gear level suitable for the length of the course and suspension adjusts the overall pressure of your vehicle from losing control on the road.
