Controls

Toontown's 3D style lets you see everything in your view. The controls for the game are your keyboard and . The keyboard lets you chat to Secret Friends, jump, or move around. The allows clicking on other players and Cogs, selecting gags, opening up Shticker Book and friends list, or clicking an option. It cannot be rearranged for other players.

Death

There is no real death in the game, rather your Toon actually becomes sad. Most people still refer to becoming sad as "dying" though. When a Toon's Laff fully depletes, he or she dies or becomes sad. This is shown as the Toon bowing down, turning around while shrinking, and finally disappearing. Before the Toon disappears, it can still talk until it poofs away.

You will not gain any skill points for your gags when you lose in the battle. When you lose, you will also lose everything for that time of attack, even gags. When you die, your Toon is sent to the nearest town, depending on which neighborhood it fought in when it died. There, the Toon will still be bowing its head down and will move slowly. It will take a while for the Toon to refill its Laff, since you can regain one Laff point at a time. Once that Laff point is gained, you may pick up treasures around the town to regain Laff. However, you cannot gain Laff from these if your Laff Meter is still zero.

Abilities

Toons obtain bigger abilities through the Catalog or Toontasks. The catalog will cost Jellybeans to buy items, but it's worth it. You can buy a bigger wardrobe, a huge Jellybean Bank, or even a better fishing rod.

The Toontasks are much harder to complete. They offer new Gag Tracks, more Laff, more tasks, more space for Jellybeans, and larger space for gags. Once the Toontask is done, it will appear green, which you have to turn in the task to the person you need to come to.

The Optional Tasks are stuff you can do for fun. Optional Tasks are marked with "Just for Fun!" at the top left corner of the task. These will change your Toon or give you Jellybeans.

Gag Tracks

The Gag Tracks are what build up your strength towards the Cogs. They give off better attack power the more you train. You get bigger gags by gaining skill points. Each Gag Track has a meter for the SP you gain in battle. If the SP hits the number of SP needed, you will obtain a new gag, which is better than the previous one.

When you fight an easier Cog, you may find the background of a gag in your list is green. This means that the Gag does not give SP. When that gag is used, it won't give off any SP at all, because you used a strong gag against a weak cog.

You start off with the Throw and Squirt tracks. To get a new Gag Track, you must complete 16 Toontasks for each one. Each Gag Track Toontask adds one frame to your Gag Track page in your Shticker Book. The only way to get all 16 is to do them one by one. When you complete the other upgrade tasks, you will end up with the Final Gag Track Training Toontask, which, once you complete it, will finish the neighborhood with your new gag track.

You can pick different Gag Tracks in each neighborhood:

• Toontown Central: Toon-Up or Sound.
• Donald's Dock: Lure or Drop.
• Minnie's Melodyland: Toon-Up or Sound (whichever you didn't choose first) or Trap.
• The Brrrgh: Whatever you haven't picked yet.

Daisy Gardens do not have a Gag Track Training task.

Parties

You can't really form a party. Just gather some friends and go fight off Cogs. It's not really a way to gain SP fast, due to the fact that you and your friend can raise your attack power if you aim for one Cog with the same Gag Track, but at least it can help your friend. When your friend does not do anything though, he or she may not receive SP, because they have to attack to get SP. That is considered leeching for your Toontasks, and will be counted as rude if done without permission.
