"I traded useless beauty for the power to wreck my vengeance"

Medusa is a ranged agility hero who is usually played as a carry. Despite her relatively low health and armor, she can become very durable with Mana Shield, which reduces damage using mana, and Stone Gaze, which will cripple any enemy that tries to engage her. These abilities combined with defensive items can let her become as tanky as a strength hero. Medusa is also quite good at taking down multiple enemies at once using her other two skills: Split Shot and Mystic Snake. Split Shot is a mana-free toggle that lets her hit multiple enemies for reduced damage, while Mystic Snake becomes increasingly powerful as it jumps between enemies, damaging groups of foes while stealing more mana to fuel her Mana Shield. Deadly and hard to kill, Medusa is definately not a hero one would want to fight face-to-face.

Abilities[edit]

Split Shot[edit]

Dota 2 medusa split shot.png
  • Ability: No Target, Toggle
  • Outgoing Damage: 50% / 60% / 70% / 80%
  • Extra Targets: 4
  • Range: 700

Split Shot is a toggled ability that lets you split your normal attack into five shots, damaging the 4 closest enemy units other than the one you're currently targeting. Each shot will have lowered damage and will not carry over attack effects and Unique Attack Modifiers. The application of this ability should be obvious, use it to damage multiple heroes in teamfights or to push down creep waves. There is a short transformation time when toggling Split Shot, which can let you dodge certain spells.

Mystic Snake[edit]

Dota 2 medusa mystic snake.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Units
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Jump Radius: 475
  • Jumps: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
  • Damage: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200
  • Mana Steal: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50
  • Increase per Jumps: 25%
  • Mana Cost: 140 / 150 / 160 / 170
  • Cooldown: 11

Mystic Snake sends out an energy snake that jumps between enemies, dealing damage and stealing mana. The damage and mana steal increases with each bounce. It will do pure damage to enemies in stone form. You can use it as a magical nuke or as a pushing tool, as it can damage multiple enemies at once. The stolen mana can be used to prolong your Mana Shield, and it is spammable enough that you can attempt it multiple times in a chaotic teamfight. During Stone Gaze, it can be used to do extra damage due to its pure damage type.

Mana Shield[edit]

Dota 2 medusa mana shield.png
  • Ability: No Target, Toggle
  • Damage Per Mana: 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5

Mana Shield surrounds you with an orb of mana that reduces any damage you take by half, reducing a bi of your mana pool instead of your health. It will increase your survivability quite a bit, since the only other places you will need mana is to cast Mystic Snake which can return mana or to cast Stone Gaze which is another defensive ability. It is still a good idea to monitor how much mana you lose, because you could end up without mana to do anything.

Stone Gaze[edit]

Dota 2 medusa stone gaze.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Radius: 800
  • Gaze Duration: 6
  • Petrify Duration: 3
  • Slow: 50%
  • Bonus Physical Damage: 30% / 40% / 50%
  • Mana Cost: 200
  • Cooldown: 90

Stone Gaze will slow the movement speed, attack speed and turn rate of any units facing Medusa, turning them into stone if they do so for more than 2 seconds. Petrified units will be stunned, gain 100% magic resistance, but be more vulnerable to physical damage. It will also instantly kill petrified illusions. This ability can easily turn the table on your opponents when getting ganked or at the start of a teamfight.
