Morphling is a ranged agility hero who is usually played as a carry, known to be quite powerful or hard to kill even without strong items. It can use Waveform to swiftly move to a spot, damaging enemies in its path. It can Morph its strength into agility and vise versa, going from a deadly damage dealer to a virtually unkillable tank in a matter of seconds. His Adaptive Strike has varying effects based on his attributes, but is a strong spell in both cases. He can use Replicate to spawn a clone of a hero allied or enemy, using it to scout or letting him teleport to safety with Morph Replicate.

Abilities[edit]

Waveform[edit]

Dota 2 morphling waveform.png
  • Ability: Target Point
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 100 / 175 / 250 / 325
  • Mana Cost: 140 / 155 / 160 / 165
  • Cooldown: 11

Waveform makes you shoot to the targeted area, damaging enemies in your path. While you are in Waveform you are invulnerable to attacks. It is both a good escape mechanism or a damage tool. You can also use it to chase down enemies.

Adaptive Strike[edit]

Dota 2 morphling adaptive strike.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Stun Min: 0.25
  • Stun Max: 0.75 / 1.5 / 2.25 / 3
  • Damage Min: 0.25
  • Damage Max: 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 / 2
  • Base Damage: 20 / 40 / 60 / 80
  • Mana Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 10

Adaptive Strike makes you launch a jet of water at the target. If your strength is 50% than your agility, it deals maximum stun and minimum damage. If your agility is 50% higher than your strength it deals maximum damage, but only mini-stuns. The damage it deals is the base damage added on to your agility mulitplied by a certain amount. Adaptive Strike fits very well in the situations you want to use it. When you're more agility-based you can use it to deal extra damage as well as interrupt channeling spells with the mini-stun. When you're putting more points into strength, which is usually when you're escaping from enemies, you would want the stun to slow them down. The spell itself also has a longer cast range than your normal attack range, so you can use it to finish off enemies running away.

Morph[edit]

  • Ability: No Target, Toggle
  • Mana Per Second: 30
  • Points Per Shift: 2
  • Shift Rate: 1 / 0.5 / 0.33 / 0.2
  • Bonus Strength / Agility: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Morph is actually 2 spells in 1. Learning it gives you access to 2 toggled skills, one which takes points from your strength and puts it into agility and one that does the opposite, though any strength or agility granted by items cannot be morphed. It also passively grants you bonus strength and agility. This ability gives you great adaptibility. Usually when you're farming or taking down enemies you would want more agility to greatly increase your damage output. When you are being chased down by enemies and your health is getting low, morphing agility into strength will help you to survive.

Replicate[edit]

Dota 2 morphling replicate.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Duration: 30 / 45 / 60
  • Cast Range: 700 / 1100 / 1500
  • Mana Cost: 25
  • Cooldown: 80

Replicate lets you create a clone of the targeted hero, whether it's a friend or foe. The clone only does 50% of the hero's damage, though takes as much damage as the hero itself takes. You can use Morph Replicate to take its place at any time. The fact that it doesn't take increased damage makes it much more passable as a fake hero than other illusion-creating spells. That means you can actually bait the enemy to waste their spells on your replicate. There is one thing that gives it away, and that is it has your name, so smart enemies can still tell the difference. You can also copy a beefy strength hero and use it to scout enemy territory. The most common use of it is to create one and leave it at a safe spot, so that you can instantly teleport to it when you're in trouble. You can also use it to surprise enemies by teleporting to the replicate when they start attacking it, thinking it will just be a clone.
