Storm Spirit is a ranged intelligence hero who can be played as a ganker or a semi-carry. He has arguably the best mobility out of all heroes in the game due to his ultimate: Ball Lighting. It lets him move around the map at blinding speed, making it very hard to keep a Storm Spirit still. His Static Remnant is great for area control and has such a short cooldown that he can have up to 3 at one time. His Electric Vortex can control the movements of an enemy, though you are slowed as well. His Overload is a strong attack modifier that is not only powerful, but can be repeatedly invoked due to the short cooldowns of his other spells. With the ability to hit and run like no other, Storm Spirit is a deadly ganker, and if you're not careful, you may find yourself dead in an instant.

Abilities[edit]

Static Remnant[edit]

Dota 2 storm spirit static remnant.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 140 / 180 / 220 / 260
  • Radius: 260
  • Mana Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100
  • Cooldown: 3.5

Static Remnant creates a copy of yourself at your current location that lasts for 12 seconds. It will detonate once an enemy gets close, dealing damage. With a cooldown of merely 3.5 seconds, you can have up to 3 remnants at any time. You can also place a remnant while in Ball Lightning. While the damage is below average, since it has such a low cooldown and can move around easily, you can easily trap a hero with 3 remnants to do a lot of damage.

Electric Vortex[edit]

Dota 2 storm spirit electric vortex.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Duration: 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5
  • Mana Cost: 100 / 110 / 120 / 130
  • Cooldown: 21 / 20 / 19 / 18

Electric Vortex pulls the target to your current location, but you will also be slowed by 50% for 3 seconds. Heroes caught by it cannot do anything while pulled, so it is an effective disable. The move slow won't affect you when you're Ball Lightning, which makes the spell even better. It can be used to pull a hero right into your Static Remnant, or to control their movements while you zip around them with Ball Lightning.

Overload[edit]

Dota 2 storm spirit overload.png
  • Ability: Passive
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90
  • Movement Slow: 80%
  • Attack Slow: 50%
  • Duration: 0.6

Overload causes your next attack after casting a spell to do bonus damage and slow enemies. Due to the low cooldown of your Static Remnant and no cooldown of Ball Lightning, you can repeatedly proc this passive to increase your damage greatly. Enemies will find it quite hard to escape repeated Overload attacks due to its great slow.

Ball Lightning[edit]

Dota 2 storm spirit ball lightning.png
  • Ability: Target Point
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 8 / 12 / 16
  • Speed: 1250 / 1875 / 2500
  • Radius: 125 / 200 / 275
  • Mana Drain Per Unit: 1%
  • Mana Cost: 15

Ball Lightning makes you shoot forward at the targeted direction, draining your mana for every unit you travel. The initial cost for activating the ability is 15+7% of your maximum mana pool, while you will lose 10+1% of your maximum mana pool for every 100 units you travel. The further you travel, the more damage you do. Since its mana cost is percentage-based, you won't be able to go halfway across the map by increasing your intelligence to ridiculously high levels. However, you can still travel quite a distance with it, though most of the time you will be using it in short bursts to activate your Overload.
