Part 1[edit]

Enemies
Williams, Roper, Williams, Roper
Description
After viewing the scene where Marina is punched out and taken away by Willy and his gang, the garage door on the left opens up to reveal the player(s). Immediately, you are taken on by a lone Williams. Use this Williams to practice several of the techniques that you have for putting thugs down. You can attempt the kick/roundhouse combination, or the left/right/uppercut punch combination. You can try jump-kicking him down to the ground, or you can learn the tried and true elbow-smash that every enemy succumbs to. If you wish to master the hair-grab technique, hold the joystick towards Williams as you press the kick button when you are fairly close to him. This should make him double over and enable you to grab his hair. Knee him in the face twice with the kick button, and then throw him with the punch button. After Williams is knocked out, a dark skinned Roper will appear. He is no different than the Williams, so practice all that you've learned on this new foe.
After the first Roper is knocked out, continue to move further along the wall. You will see "Wanted" posters for Willy and his second-in-command, Jeff. A Williams and a light skinned Roper will appear simultaneously. Try your best to avoid getting surrounded by either attacker. Keep them to one side of you as much as possible. If one of them grabs you from behind, he will hold you while the other approaches and punches you in the gut. Press the jump button to break free of this hold, or press Kick to attack any opponent who approaches you. Use any method of attack you like, but continue to alternate between enemies, if the other one is nearby. Otherwise, you can focus on one enemy until he is defeated if the other is far enough away, or attempting to maneuver into a better position. Once both enemies are knocked out, you will receive the thumbs up to continue.

Part 2[edit]

Enemies
Williams, Linda, Abobo, Williams
Description
You will soon reach the left edge of a building. A ladder leads up to a roof-top ledge where a Williams happens to be waiting for you. When you get close enough, he will jump down to the street level to confront you. It's a good idea not to allow the screen to scroll any further until you have defeated this Williams. When the coast is clear, continue walking to the right. As you pass a set of double doors, a Linda will appear, holding a whip. The whip has a powerful sting, so you should focus on making Linda release it as soon as possible. Getting the whip from Linda is as easy as hitting her and making her double over. Then you can walk over to the whip and pick it up with the punch button. However, you'll find that hitting Linda with her own weapon is a little trickier, as she will back up if you lash the whip continuously. If you leave it on the ground, she will try to recover it. You can use this to your advantage by hanging around the whip and waiting for her to get close to it before attacking again.
When Linda is knocked out, head to the right. Soon enough, a hulking giant will bash through the wall. This giant hulk is Abobo. Right around the same time, a Williams will appear from the lower right corner with a bat in his hand. Between the two, Abobo is the bigger threat, both literally and figuratively. Abobo can do much more damage, and takes a lot more punishment to put down. That being said, a Williams with a bat shouldn't be taken lightly either. Just like Linda, you can remove the bat from William's hands by hitting him. But unless you collect the bat, Williams will continue to try to pick it back up to use it against you. Grab the bat when you get a chance to make beating both Williams and Abobo easier. The bat has a good range, and while it doesn't do as much damage as the whip, it is far easier to connect with. Swing the bat until both enemies are knocked out. If you can't retrieve the bat, you'll have to rely on better techniques to take Abobo down. Don't bother trying the hair-grab maneuver, it won't work on Abobo. Standard ground attacks leave you vulnerable to getting picked up and tossed over Abobo's shoulder. Jump kicks are good, but if you want to ensure that you take as little damage as possible, stick to the elbow-smash technique. You'll be given the thumbs up to proceed when all four enemies in this section are defeated.

Part 3[edit]

Enemies
Roper, Williams, Jick, Roper
Description
The final section of the first mission starts out with a dark skinned Roper. This Roper has a rather large supply of throwing knives. Even if you hit him and manage to knock a knife loose, he'll have more to throw at you in his vest. Once you grab these knives, the next time you press punch, you will toss the knife forward. Thrown knives do excellent damage, and it is recommended that you use them before the enemy gets a chance to. Roper won't try to pick up dropped knives, but his buddy Williams will. There's a Williams not too far behind the Roper. You can take one on at a time if you don't advance too far, but you should not find the combination of the two overwhelming.
As soon as you knock one of the enemies out, the Mission boss, Jick, will be quick to appear. Jick looks quite a bit like Abobo, but with dark skin and a mohawk. Use the same techniques to defeat Jick as you would any regular Abobo. There is a second Roper in the stage, but you will only encounter it if you advance to far into the end of the stage. You do not have to defeat this Roper to complete the mission, only Jick. If you beat Jick without making the other Roper appear, you will advance to the next mission. If you do make the Roper appear, but defeat Jick first, the Roper will attempt to exit the screen through the left side, where you can no longer chase him. One reason to proceed to the right, in spite of the Roper, are the two oil drums that you can pick up and toss at your enemies. Likewise, Roper can lift the barrels over his head and throw them at you, but Jick can't. Focus your efforts on Jick and take him down as quickly as possible. Once you do, you will receive 3000 bonus points before proceeding to the next mission.
