Double Dragon NES screen 10.png

It's just another day in the neighborhood, when all of a sudden Billy Lee's girlfriend is stopped in her tracks by a pack of thugs from the Black Warriors. She is punched in the stomach before one of the thugs throws her over his shoulders and takes her back to their hideout. Billy arrives on the scene too late to help, but there are plenty of gang members to fight, and a boss in the back of an alley who might point Billy in the right direction... but only after a little persuasion.

Part 1[edit]

Section 1 - Williams × 3

After watching Marian get punched and hauled off by a crew of Black Warriors, you will start outside of your garage. You will be first attacked by a group of three Williams, two at a time. You should use this first section to build your level of fighting experience to the second level. This will make it easier to get through the rest of the Mission, and guarantee that you'll reach level 3 before the fight with Abobo at the end. The best way to do this is to stand between the Williams, and perform two kicks and one punch to one Williams before backing off and attacking the other one in the same manner. You will receive 50 total experience points for this combo without knocking either of them down. You will reach level 2 after performing the combo twenty times. Once you earn the Uppercut and Roundhouse moves, you should make short work of the Williams as quickly as possible.
Section 2 - Linda × 2

Once you reach a door, it will open up and two Lindas will appear. One will be holding a whip. Attack and defeat this one first. Pick up the whip at the earliest opportunity and use it against the remaining Linda. There are ladders on either side of the door, and you can use them to escape the ground, but it won't help you very much since you can't proceed until the Lindas are defeated.
Section 3 - Roper × 4

Upon reaching the alleyway, two Ropers will approach you. Fighting the Ropers is no different than fighting the Williams. One may take the opportunity to pick up the oil drum along the way. If he does, trick the Roper by standing in front of him along the same row, and then quickly move up or down to get out of the oil drum's path when Roper begins to throw it at you. Then you can collect the oil drum and throw it back at him, and all of the other Ropers that appear until they are defeated.
Section 4 - Linda × 5

After clearing the alleyway of Ropers, you'll reach the end of the block. A group of Lindas will be ready to attack you. Just as before, one will be holding a whip. Grab it from her and use it against the remaining Lindas. It takes three whip lashes to knock each Linda out. By this time, you should be getting closer to 1000 experience points and reaching the next level. If you're more than 300 points away, you may want to tease this section out a bit longer by kicking the Lindas before whipping them in order to earn a few more points. Once every Linda is defeated, the gate in the back will open up. Pass through it to reach the next area.
Note: There is an odd feature/bug in this part of the stage that allows you to walk up the wall on the far right side of the screen. Doing so will provide you with no advantage, and you risk losing a life if you're not careful. Pushing up will allow you to climb to the top of the screen, and reappear at the bottom. However pushing down below the bottom of the screen will end your life. While suspended from the wall, pushing left or right will return you to the ground almost immediately, while attacking will cause you to fall to the ground.

Part 2[edit]

Section 5 - Roper × 2
Double Dragon NES screen 15.png
After stepping inside the building, you will find yourself on the floor of a warehouse with a conveyor belt running through the middle. The belt leads to a wide gaping hole in the middle of the floor; any person standing or lying on the conveyor belt will fall to their death unless they step off before they reach the edge. You will receive a full health bar when you arrive here. Two Ropers will be waiting for you when you get there. It is best to attack them near the bottom of the screen instead of taking a risk and trying to fight them on the conveyor belt. One may knock you down and you may not rise in time to escape the hole. If you earned the second level of fighting experience in the very first section, then you should cross over into level 3 fighting the Ropers. This will give you access to the useful Jump Kick attack. Be aware, however, that as soon as you learn how to Jump Kick, your enemies will have access to it as well.
Section 6 - Abobo × 1
Double Dragon NES screen 16.png
As soon as the Ropers are defeated, the door in the back of the room will open, and out comes the fierce Abobo. There are two strategies you can employ against Abobo. One is to fight him in the usual manner until he gets knocked out. This will take some time, but it will help boost your experience points. The other way is to lure him onto the right side of the conveyor belt, and Jump Kick or otherwise knock him over the edge of the belt. This can be a very quick way to end the fight, but it also puts you at risk for falling off the conveyor belt yourself if something goes wrong. Judge the situation based on your level of expertise with the game. Beginners should try to fight Abobo and learn tactics that will be very useful later on the game. Experts can usually knock Abobo over the edge with little effort.
