This page needs to be split into subpages. Enemy info should be moved to the separate walkthrough pages; no need to separate since most enemies are unique, also need to duplicate monsters that appear in multiple levels

Please add some links to the Table of Contents and split this page to separate pages, then remove this template.

Dragon Saber enemy Akira.png

BOSS: Akira - This enormous jellyfish-like creature is the first ground-based boss of this game (although his eye reaches right up to Huey and Siria's levels in the air, so he can be classed as an air-based enemy); he attacks by spitting shurikens at the two dragons from his three enormous mouths before opening his singular enormous eye and beginning to extend it randomly around the screen. The aforementioned eye is his only vulnerable point, and while he is extending it around the screen (severely limiting Huey and Siria's mobility while he is doing so) he will continue to spit shurikens from his three aforementioned mouths - and he will also summon an infinite amount of smaller eyeball-like jellyfish to emerge from the water and fly towards Huey and Siria (which can be killed for 100 extra points apiece, but will limit Huey and Siria's mobility even further). But: once you have shot enough Orange or Level-1 flames at his aforementioned enormous singular eye to destroy it, it will explode and you will receive a 2000-point bonus; the explosions will then spread down his extended eyestalk to his body, which will cause each of his three aforementioned enormous mouths to explode as well. Huey and Siria will then proceed to the second stage (but unlike in the original Dragon Spirit, none of the stage endings will segue into the next one's beginning).

Stage 2[edit]

In the second stage (which is themed upon lava), Huey and Siria will encounter the Graia from the previous stage, along with five new types of enemies:

DO Flyer.gif Flyer Air 100
DO Centipede.gif Centipede Air 200
DO Turtle.gif Turtle Ground 100
DO E-Ptera.gif E-Ptera Air 200
DO Magma Dragon.png

BOSS: Magma Dragon - Once Huey and Siria have stopped moving forward for a second time in the game this enormous fiery serpent (who is different type of dragon to them) will emerge from the lava whirlpool in the centre of the screen and start flying randomly around it while spitting hundreds of small fireballs from his mouth at them; he looks somewhat like a flaming orange version of both the Radon from Phelios, and the Doragon from Valkyrie no Densetsu (both of which also run on Namco System 2 hardware). His vulnerable spot is his entire body which means that Huey and Siria can spit an Orange (or Level-2 or Level-1) flame at any part of him including his head and it will count as a hit - but as they are doing so in order to weaken him, the fireballs that he is spitting from his mouth at them will increase in size. But once you have shot off enough Orange (or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at any part of his aforementioned body to defeat him it will explode into ten sections (which will not injure Huey and Siria if they fly past them, much like the twenty pieces of Maiku's exploded body from Ordyne), and you'll receive another 2000-point bonus; the aforementioned lava whirlpool in the centre of the screen will then stop rotating in its clockwise direction, and Huey and Siria will then proceed onto their third stage (which is themed upon fossils).

DO Skull.gif Skull Air 200
DO Swallow.gif Swallow Air 200
DO Ball.gif Ball Air 100
DO Alien King.png

BOSS: Alien King - Once Huey and Siria have stopped moving forward for a third time in game, this enormous spider-like creature will wake up and start flying randomly around the screen while spitting bubbles at them from his mouth; as his name suggests, he looks like a male knock-off of the Alien Queen from Konami Industry Co.'s Aliens, which was released earlier in 1990 and also used a Yamaha YM-2151 FM sound chip for its songs). His only vulnerable spot is his head, and while Huey and Siria are spitting Green (or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at it to weaken him, an infinite amount of Medusa will emerge from the five Medusa Nests on the ground and fly up towards them (which as mentioned above can be killed for 50 extra points apiece) - and even though the Medusa Nests themselves can be destroyed once you have dropped enough bombs on them (even though they are not worth any extra points), he will drop a replacement one onto the ground from his tail, which means that you will not be able to escape the combined wrath of five Medusa Nests until you have shot enough Green (or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at his head to defeat him (at which point he will explode, and you will receive the third 2000-point bonus; the Medusa Nests and all remaining Medusa will also explode, at this point).

Stage 4[edit]

In the fourth stage (it is themed upon renal ground), you will encounter the Tombows, Graia and Tobo from the first stage, along with nine new enemies:

Enemy Name Type Points
DO Mini Ptera A.gif Type A Mini Ptera Air 200
DO Mini Ptera B.gif Type B Mini Ptera Air 100
DO Snail.gif Snail Ground 100
DO Frog.gif Frog Both 100

DO Butterfly.gif Butterfly Air 100
DO Flower A.gif Type A Flower Ground 100
DO Flower B.gif Type B Flower Ground 100
DO Spider.gif Spider Ground 100
DO Jinmenju.png

BOSS: Jinmenju - Once Huey and Siria have stopped moving forward for fourth time in the game this enormous tree will wake up and grow an extra pair of armlike branches before starting to spit five spreading projectiles from his mouth at you; that aforementioned mouth is his only vulnerable point, and like the Sea Devil from that original Dragon Spirit arcade game, he is only vulnerable when it is open - and while Huey and Siria are spitting Black (or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames into it to weaken him, Cape Bats (DO Cape Bat.gif) will be appearing on the undersides of his branches, and flying towards them (and they can be killed for 50 extra points apiece). Once you have shot enough Black (or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames into his aforementioned mouth while it is open to defeat him, his two extra arm-like branches will turn white and disintegrate, and you'll receive a fourth 2000-point bonus; he will then start shaking back and forth while appearing to break free from his rootings and fly out of the monitor (but he will not cause any further injuries to Huey and Siria as he flies past them). Once he has disappeared out of the monitor, all that will be left of Jinmenju will be his aforementioned rootings - and Huey and Siria will then proceed to the fifth stage (which is themed upon valleys and is the first to feature highspeed flying).

Stage 5[edit]

Enemy Name Type Points
DO Fire Flower.gif Fire Flower Air 50
DO Iron Wall.gif Iron Wall Air 0
DO Kamome.gif Kamome Air 100
DO Tonbi.gif Tonbi Air 100
DO Rock Head.png

BOSS: Rock Head - Once Huey and Siria have killed the last Tonbi of this stage they will come to this enormous visage of consolidated mineral matter, as the game's first boss theme is heard out from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a second time; he attacks by trying to stay ahead of the two dragons (given that the battle is fought on the move), while spitting four spreading rocks at them from his mouth (which cannot be destroyed), and once Huey and Siria have shot enough flames at him, he will split up into nine parts and any rocks that are currently on the screen will disappear. His centre part (with his eyes) will then start flying directly towards Huey and Siria while his other eight parts revolve around him in an anticlockwise direction - and this is the first boss of the game that has two different forms. His other eight parts (much like the rocks he was spitting from his mouth) cannot be destroyed, as they are revolving round his aforementioned centre part; however once Huey and Siria have shot enough Black (or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at his aforementioned centre part to defeat him, he will explode and you will receive a fifth 2000-point bonus. Huey and Siria will then fly off the top of the screen, and proceed to the sixth stage (which is themed on ice caves, and will return them back to the original flying speed of the first four stages).

Stage 6[edit]

In this stage (themed on ice caves), you will encounter the Tombows from the first stage and the Mini Flyers from the third stage, plus five new enemies:

Enemy Name Type Points
DO Hedgehog.gif Hedgehog Air 100
DO Ice Butterfly.gif Ice Butterfly Air 100
DO Ice Turtle.gif Ice Turtle Ground 100
DO Babito.gif Babito Air 200
DO Ice Dragon.gif Ice Dragon Air 100
DO Ice Worm.png

BOSS: Ice Worm - Once Huey and Siria have stopped moving forward for a fifth time, this enormous icy serpent (who looks somewhat like an updated version of Gubira from the original Dragon Spirit arcade game) will emerge from the first of three holes in the wall upon the left side of the screen, and come flying towards you while spitting icicles at you from his mouth; as with Magma Dragon and Rock Head before he had been split up into nine parts, his entire body is his "vulnerable point", and this means that whenever Huey and Siria shoot a Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flame at him, it will count as a hit. However, he does have the power of disappearing into one of the five other holes in the walls, upon the left and right side of the screen (so you cannot attack him any further) before reemerging from a second one of them - and not only does he choose which of the six holes he will disappear into at random, but also which one he will re-emerge from as well. But once Huey and Siria have shot enough Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1), flames at him to defeat him, his body will explode into ten sections (much like that of the aforementioned Magma Dragon) and you will receive a sixth 2000-point bonus; they will then proceed to the seventh stage (which is themed upon the World of Spirits).

Stage 7[edit]

In the seventh stage (themed upon the World of Spirits), you will encounter the Ghosts and Mini Flyers from the third stage, along with six new enemies:

Enemy Name Type Points
DO Saucer.gif Saucer Air 50
DO Eye Cannon.gif Eye Cannon Ground 50
DO Shell.gif Shell Air 200
DO Hotaru.gif
Hotaru Ground 100
DO Saibou.gif Saibou Air 100
DO Mijinko.gif Mijinko Air (Mini-Boss) 2000
DO Dragon Zombie.png

BOSS: Dragon Zombie - Once Huey and Siria have shot enough Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at the mini-boss of Mijinko to defeat it, they will start moving forward again for an eighth time as the main theme that they are hearing from the Yamaha YM-2151 fades out; they will then stop moving forward again, as they come to this enormous undead mythical beast (who, like Magma Dragon and the Ice Dragons, is a different kind of dragon from them). The game's third boss theme will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a second time, as the background changes behind Huey and Siria (as seen in the image to the left) and he starts flying round in front of them while spitting long, fiery flames at them from his mouth - his head is his only vulnerable point, and while Huey and Siria are shooting their own Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at it to weaken him he will summon up an infinite amount of additional Ghosts to materialize in front of them and fly directly towards them, which can be killed for 100 extra points apiece. But once Huey and Siria have shot enough of their own flames at his aforementioned head to defeat him he will explode and you will receive an eighth 2000-point bonus; they will then proceed to the eighth stage, which does not have a boss at all.

Stage 8[edit]

Stage 9[edit]

Enemy Name Type Points
DO Bacura.gif

DO Tank.gif Tank Ground 100
DO Wall.gif Wall Air N/A
DO Baton.gif Baton Air 200
DO Iron Pole.gif Iron Pole Air N/A
DO Chaos.png

BOSS: Chaos - Once Huey and Siria have gone around the last Iron Pole of the stage, they will stop moving for a tenth and final time as they come to this enormous evil spirit (who is the final boss of the game); a remix of the fourth boss theme from the original Dragon Spirit will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 (which is the same sound chip it was originally heard from three years earlier), as he starts flying randomly around in front of Huey and Siria while shooting off ten spreading fireballs and crescent-shaped boomerangs (the latter of these can be blocked, for 100 extra points apiece) at them. The head is his only vulnerable point - and while Huey and Siria are spitting Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at it to weaken him, he has the power to summon up eight new types of air-based enemies in a cycle (which will all attack in a different way, and are all worth a different point value when killed). But once Huey and Siria have shot enough Silver (or Black, or Green, or Orange, or Level-2, or Level-1) flames at that aforementioned head to defeat him, he will float down to the ground, take four steps forward, and explode, as both Huey and Siria receive 75,000 extra points for every life they have remaining; the Sun God "Arlia" will then emerge from the spirit's wreckage as the screen fades out.
