Battle Zone Tutorial[edit]

USERNAME! Welcome to the Battle Zone. My name is Instructor Duffy. One of my jobs is to get the OMD drivers ready for the Battle Zone. The Battle Zone is a place where you can race against other OMD drivers. If you pay attention to what I say during this tutorial, winning will come very easily to you! Don't be intiminated by the word Battle Zone. The tracks are the same as the ones in the city you've explored. The controls in the Battle Zone are the same as when you are in the city. The directional keys move the car, [Ctrl] key for the Boost, and [Shift] for drifting. Let me tell you, drifting is especially important in the Battle Zone! I've seen numerous OMD drivers and eventually whoever drifts the best becomes the best driver. Do you see the arrow? Follow the arrow to where it's telling you to go. Real easy right? Nothing to it! You cannot go through this barrier. A barrier like this means that this part of the road is closed. Make sure you keep that in mind! Alright then, I'm going to teach you about every aspect of the Battle Zone. Let's start your lesson. After the count down, try driving forward.

After entering the Battle Zone, you'll see a gauge underneath your car. That gauge is your Durability Meter. If you crash into other cars and other obstacles, the durability meter will decrease. If the gauge reaches zero your car will only be able to go 25 mph. However, don't worry too much! The best mechanic on Mittron Island, "Repair Man Chester" will personally fix your car in no time! Alright then! Try driving forward some more.

The contraption you're going through now is called a "Gate." When you pass through a gate, your car will receive a power up item. OK! USERNAME, I'm going to tell you about the various power up items your car can receive, so drive to the next gate.

The next power up is the "repair complete" ability. If you go through the gate while your durability meter is low, this power up will fill the durability gauge to 100% When your durability gauge is almost empty, this is the best thing that can happen to you! OK then, I'll continue on to the other power ups. Lets move on to the next gate.

The power up thats about to come out this time is the booster fill item. When the booster is full, use it by pressing on the [Ctrl] key. You may receive a 50% or 100% fill up, so keep that in mind! If you're in a team match, then this power up will fill up the booster for all your teammates. Alright! Use the booster to get to the next gate.

The power up this time is called Hyper Boost. As you can see in the picture, a large can of boost will be attached to your car. When you get the Hyper Boost power up, your car will automatically use the booster for 15 seconds. OK then, lets use the Hyper Boost to get to the next gate.

The power up coming from this gate is the Invincible Rush. As you can see from the picture, a force field will surround your car. During the Invincible Rush, the booster will activate and at the same time you will be able to collide with other cars and traffic without slowing or losing durability! Alright, lets use the Invincible Rush to get to the next gate. You'll like this power up item a lot after you've hit some cars.

The item coming out this time is the Drift City power up. This is the best power up that you can get from a gate. When you get this power up, the booster will automatically turn on and you will also be able to brush off other cars and traffic that run into your car. All for a full 15 seconds! Amazing huh? If you use the Drift City power up well in a competitive Battle Zone, you'll be able to rise to the top through force! Keep this in mind! Alright then, drive with the Drift City power up to the finish line.

So what did you think? Do you feel like you know more about the Battle Zone now? To be successful in the OMD Battle Zone, avoid crashes and effectively use the power ups you get from the gates! For practice sake, I purposely didn't include any traffic. But in the real Battle Zone, there will be traffic to disturb your driving, so be careful. OK then, that is all that I have to teach you! Go join some great competitive matches against other drivers in the Battle Zone! I wish you many victories!

Instructor Duffy

Moon Palace[edit]

Hi, Player! It's nice to meet you! You must be nervous for your first mission...haha! Player, your first mission is to transport bread for the Fogel Bakery. What do you think? What, the job isn't big enough for you? Your boosting and drifting skills aren't up to par yet. Develop your techniques first by doing easy jobs! First, get the bread from the main branch of Fogel Bakery, then deliver the bread to the second branch. After finishing the delivery, come back here. Keep an eye on the GPS arrow at the top of the screen. Refer to it if you've lost your sense of direction!!

—Station 1 Staff Lim

This time you'll be on patrol duty, so listen up! There are rumors that hoodlums are prowling around the Americanas Apartments, and the residents are getting scared. Your job will be to patrol the area. Just make your patrol rounds; it will alleviate concerns. Unlike the last mission, you can simply pass through the red lit area. There's no need to make a full stop. The booster you received earlier is a masterpiece of OMD government engineering. Don't underestimate it as a normal booster. When the Booster Gauge is full, press the [Ctrl] key to unleash a burst of speed. Hold on, there's more! The Booster Gauge gradually fills as you drive, but if you try risky techniques such as driving against traffic, or drifting, the Booster Gauge will fill faster. Give it a shot. Alright, go out and patrol around the apartments. Pay attention to how fast your Booster Gauge is filled. Zoom through your patrol route and show the thugs who's boss!

—Station 1 Staff Lim

The car you are driving runs a on a called Mittron. You knew that, right? Haha! If an OMD driver's level is low, their choice of car is limited. But if they reach a higher level, better cars are available. High end cars have excellent speed and acceleration, but they also use a lot of Mittron fuel. This car is a Snake. Only drivers of level 51 or higher can drive this car. Your job is to deliver this car to the high level OMD driver who lives in the Rivermark Housing District. Drive very carefully and don't scratch this car! You got it?

—Station 1 Staff Lim

This is an emergency! I'm sorry for giving a hard mission to a beginner like you. But there were no available drivers, so I had to call you. An HUV caused a car accident near the Americanas Apartments. There's someone in critical condition, but no ambulances are available. It's up to you to get them to the hospital! Check the mini map in the lower left for the [Q] mark. Make sure you're taking the shortest route possible! The injured person is depending on you. There's no time to waste. Get going!

—Station 1 Staff Lim

You won't make enough money or improve your status if you only do jobs for the OMD Government. I've seen your paychecks. How the heck do you pay for Mittron? Alright, alright. I'll let you in on a little secret. OMD drivers are usually not allowed to do part time jobs, but the government allows one exception. You can work for the Delivery Service of NHN Co., a big retail company owning stores all over the island. They are the largest company on Mittron Island! I don't know what the relationship between OMD and NHN is, but the government only seems to permit their drivers to work for this company. Strange, isn't it? First, get certified for Delivery Service at the OMD Government Complex. After that, you can get Delivery Service of NHN Co. assignments from the Stations! Head over to the OMD Government Complex now!

—Station 1 Staff Lim

To increase your driving skill, you need to compete against other drivers in the Battle Zone. Player, complete 2 races in the Battle Zone and, as an incentive, I'll give you money and exp.

—Operator Erina

Did you think the city has only one Station? Are you kidding? There are four stations in this city. Station 1 is mainly for beginner drivers. It looks like you're capable of handling tougher missions. Go south from here. You will find Station 2! When you get there, ask for Vanessa. She'll hook you up with higher level jobs.

—Station 1 Staff Lim

Hi! I'm Vanessa! Well, well, we finally have a decent driver...

—Station Staff 2 Vanessa

Hey you! It's time you took a real mission. It is much harder than your past jobs, so sit up and listen! We've got information that the OMD Police found HUV parts at the Monday Café located south of the Station. Get the parts and deliver them to the police station. By the way, the parts are very fragile, so be sure to take extra caution while driving. Do not collide with other cars!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Alright, I heard from Erina that parts analyzing agents are usually used at the airfields. Do you know where Gold Wing Memorial Airport is? Go there and pick up the agent!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

We've been waiting for you. Here's the Mittron parts analyzing agent. Keep in mind, the agent is very unstable. Quickly deliver this to the IT Center or it will be rendered unusable.

—Airplane mechanic

Thank you. Now we can analyze the parts. The results will be reported later.

—Automobile researcher

Great work! Hopefully we can find out more about HUVs. Pretty soon you'll be able to do Chase Missions. Keep working with the Delivery Service to build your skills! Your reward increases if you complete Delivery Services faster, so you should focus on learning the routes. As you practice, you'll learn the best racing lines!

—Operator Erina

Wow! You are progressing quickly! Director Green seems confident enough to give you a mission. That says a lot about you. Go to the Government Complex and meet Director Green. He will give you a Chase Mission to arrest HUV's. A skilled driver can do this job quickly. Ah! Your GPS arrow might not work well, so you might not always be aware of your destination. Pay close attention to where you're going! Your level should be high enough to purchase a new car. Go to the Dealership in the Driver Dome. Make sure you upgrade your car frequently! Your car's performance will improve as you upgrade. If you don't, Chase Missions will be impossible.

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Ah, there you are. I'm sure you've heard that HUVs have invaded Moon Palace, and that they are messing up the roads. We have no idea where they came from, but these HUVs have been turning this city upside down. USERNAME, I think I will allow you to take Chase Missions to arrest these HUVs. It wasn't my intention to give such dangerous missions to a beginner like you, but the HUV presence has our drivers spread thin! Operator Erina will notify you when and where HUVs appear. Talk to Erina first!

—Director Green

Hello. Nice to finally meet you face to face! I will add you to the call list for HUV Chase Missions. Once HUVs appear, I'll buzz you wirelessly. Watch for the Call Sign on your screen while you drive. Press the [Tab] key for information. Since Chase Missions are very dangerous, you can only get these missions when we call you. A poorly executed mission will screw up the streets. Once we detect HUVs, I'll call you. You will get a lot of HUV calls, so pay attention! It is also possible to join forces with other drivers! If you ally with other OMD drivers, I will transmit data for tougher HUVs!

—Operator Erina

The chasing missions are kind of hectic aren't they? Just remember that chasing and arresting HUVs is a very important job. Just look at the roads in this city! HUVs have been causing the roads to become more and more deteriorated! Here, take this car, drive around the city and check out the quality of the roads. This car is a non-mittron car so driving it can be difficult, be careful!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

So, how did it feel driving a non-mittron car? It was much harder to drive compared to a mittron car right? Good Job!

—Operator Erina

Are you confused by Chase Missions? You still look very confused. Instructor Duffy has more information for you. Instructor Duffy is at the Swellfish Restaurant. Go ahead and meet him there. Don't worry, he doesn't bite! I'm sure you can get a lot of useful information from him.

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Ah, USERNAME! Argh, I'm so full! This restaurant is the best! Moon Palace was established here on Mittron Island to allow us to mine Mittron ore. Mittron ore is one of the few remaining energy sources. In the beginning, Moon Palace was just a normal city, like any other place. But since we started to mine Mittron ore, strange cars have been appearing. *Belch* That shellfish left a bad aftertaste. I need to eat ice cream now! Let's go to the ice cream shop.

—Instructor Duffy

Hmm... this ice cream is delicious. Where did we leave off? I can't remember! Instead, I'll give you some useful tips. Did you think buying a new car was the only way to get around the city faster? Well, you're wrong! There's another way! You can upgrade your current car with new parts! Press the [F3] key, and you will see open slots. Just drag the new parts into the slots. New parts will increase your car's attributes. Some parts are more expensive than a new car! Spend your money wisely! Ah! One more thing just came to me!! Before I go back home, I gotta buy some toys for my son.... Hmm. If you come with me to the toy store, I'll explain more.

—Instructor Duffy

The Drossel Toy Store is the best! Prices are high though. Oh yeah, I mentioned the strange cars appearing. As I get older, my mind gets fuzzier. Anyway, the cars would suddenly appear, completely mess up the road, and just disappear. We called them HUVs. We actually considered using conventional weapons to deal with them. When the temporary OMD government was established, one of its mandates was, "The use of weapons is prohibited on Mittron Island." Now do you understand why OMD drivers attempt arrests by colliding into HUVs. It's a ridiculous situation! We still don't know their origin or motives, but we have to find and stop them! I don't want to see this city destroyed, and I don't want to see OMD drivers risk their lives anymore. Alright, USERNAME. Go back to the Station and complete some missions!

—Instructor Duffy

As Instructor Duffy explained to you, the cars that wreak havoc are known as HUVs. No no... Don't call it "Huv." You're supposed to pronounce each letter as "H U V." HUVs are a huge problem on the island. If we were able to mine more Mittron ore without interference from HUVs, we could help resolve the world's energy shortage. So do you understand what's at stake, USERNAME? Outside of the island, energy problems are rampant. Please work hard!

—Operator Erina

The OMD IT center has closely examined the HUV parts, and has sent the parts here. The parts are quite unique, and unfortunately, the scientists couldn't figure out what they were. We need to have Branton, a famous engineer, examine the parts. I knew that researcher wouldn't be able to figure it out. The only thing he is good at is ogling women. What a creep! Anyway, Branton was last seen watching a film at the Schwan Theater just a few minutes ago! Get over there quickly and pick him up! Hurry!! I have no idea how skilled he is, but I definitely know he has bats in his belfry!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Huh! You're pretty fast. All right, Leave the parts here and get going! I'm busy now!

—Branton

Ha Ha! He's pretty stubborn, isn't he? His personality takes a little getting used to. You did a good job. Did you open your inventory by pressing the [F3] key? You can use or equip parts in your inventory window.

—Operator Erina

You seem to be quite good at your job! I think you can complete more difficult missions!! An HUV was reported driving recklessly in the southeastern part of the island. Go to the Rivermark Housing District and get additional information! USERNAME! I hope you can handle this one! Good luck!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Oh! You are awesome! I didn't expect you would do so well! If you want to race other drivers, check out the Battle Zone in the Driver Dome! You may not earn a lot of money in the Battle Zone, but you can learn driving techniques from other drivers, and gain exp.!

—Operator Erina

I've received word of an HUV near the Tour Hotel. This time, you don't have to arrest the HUV, just trail it quietly. This is what the head office wants. USERNAME! Is this your first trailing mission? Go to the designated location. When you get there, find the target vehicle and follow it! The location of the target will be on your map! Trail the target carefully; you should not be too far or too close!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Can you see the HUV? Hurry up! Trail it!!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

What? So... an HUV headed toward the island? Ha! We knew it! Good job! That was your first trailing mission? Not bad!

—Operator Erina

We received the examination report of the HUV parts, and the findings suggest that the HUV was an unmanned car. Someone may be operating the HUVs by remote control. It is also possible that HUVs are governed by some kind of artificial intelligence. What kind of people are doing this? Damn it! This city is getting messed up because of the HUVs!! That's all I can do for now, you should head to Station 3. The Station 3 Staff is quite interesting. Are you curious? Then get going!

—Station 2 Staff Vanessa

Hi! I'm the Station 3 Staff, Yuni. Nice to meet you! Ah! How old am I? Huh? I'm not a baby, geez! Though I'm young, I'm a skilled OMD government agent.

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Hi USERNAME! This is your first mission working with me! Are you nervous? Don't be! Haha! As you may have noticed, this station is located on the northern side of Moon Palace. The area around this Station is much different from where you were patrolling before. Your first mission is to patrol this area!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

USERNAME, your next mission is an ambush mission. Go to the front of Schinken Restaurant, and capture the HUV as it tries to leave! Just stay within the red lit area, and you'll automatically capture the HUV. However, make sure you are completely in the red lit area! If you are only partially in the red lit area, you will fail the ambush mission! Good luck!!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

We received the results of your arrest just a few minutes ago. The HUV appears to have come from Mt. Mitos.

—Operator Erina

There's been reports of HUV appearances at Mt. Mitos. It's true that a lot of HUVs appear at Mt. Mitos. We're suspecting that there is some sort of link between Mt. Mitos and the HUVs. Please go to Mt. Mitos and patrol the area! It may be difficult to drive through the rough terrain of the mountain so I'll get you a car that can handle that! Here's the car! Good luck!!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Oh! You went on patrol in that car! A lot of OMD drivers don't seem to like bigger cars. But, when you're traveling over rough terrain, an SUV is best. Also, SUV type cars are very durable so they're good to use against HUVs. Keep SUV type cars in mind when you're looking for a car that suits your needs, USERNAME.

—Operator Erina

That old scary lady, Yooki, is calling you! What a creepy person!! She is really quick-tempered. Ah! You know who she is! She is one of the most skilled OMD drivers. She is now at Complex 2 of the Americanas Apartments. Go and meet her!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Hi! You're an up-and-coming driver! I'm Yooki! What? Yuni called me "old" and "scary" again? Hah! I don't care what a little kid says about me. Anyway, I heard you're adept at missions. Let's see your skills. I'll believe it when I see it! The true measure of an OMD driver is how fast the driver can run through a crowded road! The streets around Amper Memorial Tower are the most crowded in Moon Palace. Pass by the Apartment Block from here, then do a lap around Amper Memorial Tower. How much time do you need to finish it? If you're as skilled as they say, you should finish very fast... I'll wait for you here! Get going!

—OMD Driver Yooki

Well, well! I guess the rumours are true! Out of all the new OMD drivers I've seen, I can say that you're one of the best. Props! USERNAME? Nice name. I like you. Keep in touch!

—OMD Driver Yooki

I can't believe you passed Ms. Yooki's test, congratulations! As a present to celebrate your success, I'll give you some tips! You can modify your car parts in the Item Shop. If you succeed modifying your car, you can get really good parts. In order to modify your car, you need to have a Mittron Enhancer! If you have the chance, get a Mittron Enhancer, and give it a try!

—Operator Erina

Wow, you were really able to handle that tanker! Nice Work!

—Operator Erina

This is an emergency! There are critically injured people in two different locations! The accidents were caused by HUVs! You need to rescue them as soon as possible! Head to Elmarion University, then go to the Elmarion Museum! Those places are far from here, so you need to get going if you're going to save some lives!

Groaning

—Injured person at the University

This person needs immediate care at the ER. Alright, let's get them into your car. There are also injured people at the museum! You have to pick them up! Go quickly, but avoid collisions! You'll jeopardize the victims!!

—Police Officer

......

—Injured person at the museum

He's in bad shape! Hurry, get to the hospital!!

—Male passerby

Whew, that was a close call. These HUVs are causing more and more accidents!!

—Doctor

That was awesome driving, USERNAME!

—Operator Erina

We got a call saying that an HUV has appeared at the Observatory Tower Rest Stop near the top of Mt. Mitos! Mt. Mitos has always been a haven for hiding secrets!! Quickly, drive to the Observatory Tower Rest Stop! Hurry, don't miss this chance!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Finally! I was about to leave! I saw an HUV here. I see them a lot, so I called in. You gotta stop those things!

—Observatory Tower passerby

People always call the government with information, but they prefer OMD drivers. HUVs really frighten people, and only the OMD drivers can alleviate those fears. Anyway, the HUV appeared near the Observatory Tower Rest Stop. I'll report it to the head office.

—Operator Erina

Thanks to the informer, we know to wait at the Observatory Tower Rest Stop. When you spot the HUV, get on its tail! I'm sure you know how to correctly tail an HUV. Be prepared to use your Booster, you might need it! You must succeed in this mission; it will be vital in unveiling the secrets of HUVs! Good luck!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Is it true that the HUV went into the Polk Mountain Cabin? The Polk Mountain Cabin is where a certain famous engineer lives... We'll report this to the head office at once!

—Operator Erina

We have reports that a key HUV informant has surfaced near the General Syuri Statue. Your objective is to safely transfer him to the OMD Government Complex. Don't collide with other cars!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

I'm scared... these HUVs are out to get me! Take me to the Government Complex as soon as possible. My heart is very sensitive, I need you to drive carefully please!

—Informer

USERNAME!! Long time no see! Let the informer sit down here...

—Instructor Duffy

I saw Branton getting out of an HUV. Maybe we should talk in my office...

—Informer

Duffy and USERNAME, you both did a good job. Branton is connected to the HUVs. He might flee if he senses us getting close. Finding out what the connection is between them is the most critical mission for us at this point. As we try to enlist Branton, we should also watch his movements!

—Director Green

We have orders from the head office. They want you to focus on the Polk Mountain Cabin. USERNAME, get going!

—Operator Erina

We don't have much info on the Polk Mountain Cabin, but the guys at Station 4 should. Go south from here, and you'll find station 4. Just a warning: the missions at station 4 are difficult, but I think you can handle anything they dish out! The route to Station 4 is quite complicated, so pay attention!

—Station 3 Staff Yuni

Hi! Ahem. My name is Allen. I'll be your contact for Station 4. Welcome! I've heard a lot about you, USERNAME. Hm Hm Hm. The missions of this station are for Level 10 or higher OMD drivers. The difficulty here is quite high. Ahem!

—Station 4 Staff Allen

Deliveries[edit]

A lot of people are still unaware of the proper way to use the new Mittron batteries. To teach them how to use the new batteries, OMD has created these pamphlets. So, you'll need to hand out these pamphlets to everyone you can find. There aren't that many to hand out, I'm sure it won't take a long time. —NHN staff Michelle

NHN sells special water purified by Mittron technology. Well, here is the list of delivery addresses!

—NHN staff Michelle

You need to hand out these missing dog flyers. The police do not have time to take care of these cases one by one. Give this assignment all you've got! Try to understand the sorrow of the people who love their pets. Go now!!

—NHN staff Michelle

We are delivering these luxury bags which were prizes in the gift event at the Drossel Shopping Center. I envy the winners so much! Deliver the prizes and make sure to say congratulations!

—NHN staff Michelle

Help the post office deliver the mail!
