Up on the Roof
{{{description}}}

The crash site is off in the distance, but you'll need to cross a huge ravine to get to it. There is a big crane you'll spot that you can use to get across.

Lover, Not a Fighter
This is probably the easiest place in the game to sneak by sleeping mechs.

Trip will scan the route and you'll see there are some sleeping mechs in the way. Head down the path over the toppled concrete blocks until you come to where the mechs are. You can charge in and take them out for Tech Orbs, and there is a Health Pack in the area in case you take damage. Or you can climb the machinery on the side to get up to a walkway going along the building above the mechs if you want to sneak by. If you go the top route, you'll need to throw Trip across a gap and quickly jump after her so you can pull her up before she drops down. If you do end up fighting them, one of the three mechs will start broadcasting for help, so take him out first. Keep going down to the end and push the yellow taxi out of the way to continue on.

In the next area, throw Trip up to the ledge above and use the pipe next to it to climb up to her. Keep climbing ledges until you get to the top where you'll come out into an open courtyard. Head through the courtyard and you'll find your first Health Vial in between a couple desks. You can use them when you're next to Trip by selecting them from the Command Menu. Keep going through the office building until you can jump across a gap in the buildings. Here you'll find your first Mask collectibleMask, and it gives you a flashback of what appears to be the past. Masks are more collectibles and they'll continue giving you glimpses of another time. Head through this new building until you come out the other side and can climb the ladder on the terrace. At the top, head across to the red leaves and into the next courtyard.

Protected buildings[edit]

Sneak up behind the gun mech to avoid its shield.

A scan reveals a couple enemies up ahead, one with a shield and a detachable gun arm. Your goal here is to get to the shielded mech and rip his arm off so you can shoot the other one. Use Trip's decoy and head toward the mechs, jumping the small gap to the building they're on. You can either jump to the beam in the center and jump down to the platform under the mech on the right, or go left around the building and come up behind the shielded mech. Either way, use the decoy to draw their fire and move out. Make sure to take out the shielded mech quickly, because you're vulnerable to the other one's fire when you're behind him. If you end up trying to fight the shielded mech when it's not distracted, use your charge attack to break through its shield. Hit it a couple times and press Circle button when the command appears to rip off it's gun arm and use it on the other mech. There are a lot of ways up there, but eventually you will need to go out through the door behind where the shielded mech was and climb up to the upper level. Head back towards Trip and drop the ladder for her, then continue on, going up the stairs on this level above where the shielded mech was. At the top Trip will crawl through a hole in the wall to a security door, and you can take the beam out and jump to a higher level, which takes you around and back down to where she's waiting.

Get the jump on the gun mech, then take out his friends with his arm.

In the next area you'll find a big open space between many buildings with some sleeping mechs, a gun turret and one of the shielded gun arm mechs on the left. You'll want to get around to the gun arm mech and use its firepower to take out the others before continuing on. You can sneak up on the shielded mech by climbing the ledge on the left and taking the broken platforms and poles in the wall across behind it. This will take you to a platform right above the mech with some Plasma Blast ammo, and you can jump right down on top of it to take it out before it can turn around and get its shield between him and you. Use his gun on the other mechs across the way (the third one is broadcasting for reinforcements), then head back over to Trip. Don't bother trying to shoot the turret with the gun arm, as it comes back online a few seconds after you stop shooting.

Take cover behind the concrete slab Trip is behind and yell to distract the turret so Trip can run to the objective. You will need to keep yelling and having her run every time she stops until she gets over underneath the ladder. When she's over there, use the decoy and join her again. Pick her up and throw her to the ledge above and she'll release the ladder for you. You need to knock down the walkway that's blocking Trip by climbing the wall opposite her to get around. Jump from the beam on the platform next to hers to the wall and quickly jump up the handholds to the platform above before the wall breaks. Jump over to the platform above Trip to collect a Mask collectibleMask, then jump back and continue along the wall. When one of the platforms collapses, run across the bridge to the building Trip is on, take the ladder up and run down to where you can kick the walkway down for her. Head back the way you came and follow Trip to the area right in front of the turret.

Protect Trip from the encroaching mechs.

Use the decoy to distract it, then run out toward the water shed and use the beam sticking out to jump to it. Use the handholds to go around the structure and up to the roof where the turret is. Run over and hit it a few times to disable it, then get ready to cover Trip while she hacks the security door. Running mechs come from the right where you first came into this area and from one of the building on the left. Additionally, gun arm mechs will pop up in the building right across from you and the building on the left and they'll shoot at you, causing damage. When you've taken them all out, leave the turret and jump down to follow Trip through the security door. Go down the stairs and jump down to the next level where you'll see another Mask collectibleMask in a hole in the wall. Grab the mask and walk through the apartment until you can jump down and go outside right below the crane.

The big mech returns[edit]

There are a bunch of ledges that down to a central area with some sleeping mechs. You'll pick up your first stun ammo here in blue canisters. The Stub Blast will temporarily stun a mech so you can approach and start wailing on it. Try stunning a mech before attacking if you want, but once you start fighting they all wake up. One of them is a broadcaster, so kill it before it can call in reinforcements. When they've all been destroyed, another one of the big mechs you fought at the end of the last chapter shows up. Like the fight before, dodge his wrecking balls and wait for him to go out of control. You can also stun him if you shoot him in the head. When he's crazy, taunt him with your yell and run toward a wall, dodging out the way when he's close so he runs into it. Since Trip scanned the last one, you'll be able to defeat it by pressing Circle button while it's dazed to perform a takedown. Head through the wall the big mech busted down and throw Trip up to the top of the railcar to continue on to the next chapter.
