A lot of people find temples complicated and confusing, so this article should help resolve that.

Determining your alignment level[edit]

To know what your alignment level is, go to your personality, count the empty blocks on your alignment side and subtract that number from 7. Note, you want to use your BASE alignment level, so any tattoos or clothing that modifies your alignment have to be removed. You will need to have access to both Temples for this to work.

Renown has nothing to do with alignment.

Chapel of Skorm[edit]

Time Requirement

In order to get the best results for the Chapel of Skorm rewards, you should always do sacrifices at Midnight.

Take a look at the minimap in the right hand corner. When that little dial reads a perfect horizontal line, Night is on top, Day is on bottom, is when it's Midnight.

A good way to go about this is when you hear a Guard shout, "Lights out you 'orrible lot!" is when you should make haste for the Sacrifice.

Also, mercenaries collect on the hour so when the dial is near the midnight mark and they collect it is exactly midnight

People usually ignore this, but timing is what matters here.

The Chapel of Skorm can be found in Darkwood, it is located east of Darkwood Camp, so find your way to Darkwood Camp to get to the chapel.

Skorm is basically the devil and all the bad guys worship him, so this chapel is an evil place. Left of the chapel is a chest.

Inside the chest you will find
  • 1 x Assassin Shirt

Inside the chapel are two evil priests, you can kill them for GOOD points or you can do their bidding for EVIL points. If you wish to do their bidding you can earn prizes.

  • Prize 1: Gift of extended age (average of 8 years off your age)
  • Prize 2: Skorm's Bow (best ranged weapon in the game)
  • Prize 3: Necromancer Title

To earn these prizes you must bring sacrifices. Sacrifices can be any villager who is willing to follow you, mercenaries and even your own wives. This is the most complicated part of the game because it is never consistent. Always save before making sacrifices!

Although you can, in theory get all the rewards at this point in the game, it may not work for you.

To get Skorm's Bow you need to get at least 750 EVIL points from a single sacrifice, if it is your first sacrifice it seems to be easier. The gift of extended life and the Necromancer title can be earned by getting 400 or more EVIL points per sacrifice after getting Skorm's Bow.

So, to sum it up in 3 steps, this is what you have to do:

  1. Sacrifice someone for 750 or more EVIL points.
  2. Sacrifice someone for 400 or more EVIL points.
  3. Sacrifice someone for 400 or more EVIL points.

The more GOOD aligned you are, the easier this is. A level 5 GOOD character (over half way) who sacrifices the mercenary from Oakvale at the right time of night will earn 800 EVIL points, a level 3 GOOD character at the right time of night with the same mercenary will only earn 650-700 EVIL points.

It is best if you do this with only three sacrifices. If you simply can't get it, wait until later.

Temple of Avo[edit]

The Temple of Avo can be found in Witchwood, it is on the path from Witchwood Cullis Gate to Knothole Glade, you can't miss it, literally.

To get the sword out of the stone, increase your Physique by 5, Health by 2 and Toughness by 3. If this is more than what it takes to max your stats, maxing them will work as well.

Rewards[edit]

It is very important to not try and do either Temple on its own. You need to do them together. Donate gold at the Temple of Avo during the day and sacrifice people at the Chapel of Skorm at night. On average you will need 50,000 gold to complete the Temple of Avo. You don't have to do both temples together, but doing it this way will ensure you get rewards from both.

Remember, use your base alignment (see the top of this page).

Note the last method that takes level 2 good to level 2 evil and makes you turn EVIL by killing guards, this is because donating gold at the Temple of Avo BEFORE you get the rewards can screw up your ability to get the rewards. You very first donation EVER, should be the donation for the Sentinus. If you don't want to kill guards because you're 'GOOD' then go kill bandits and what not until you are at least level 3 GOOD alignment.

With any scenario, save before you start and if it fails, load and try again. In the cases where it fails at the Temple of Avo, add a little bit more gold (up to like 10%). But if it is the Chapel of Skorm, try sacrificing at midnight. Some players have had success sacrificing at other times, but others swear midnight is the best time, so it may be worth a shot if you are having problems.

Also note, that you do need to be a higher GOOD alignment level to get Skorm's Bow. Level 5 or mroe is recommend, even though it can be done at level 4, its a lot harder because of the amount of EVIL points you have to obtain in one sacrifice.

Scenario 1: STARTING @ Level 3 or higher EVIL Alignment

  1. Donate 35,000 gold - The Sentinus
  2. Donate 5000 gold - the gift of youth
  3. Donate 1000 gold until you are rewarded - Paladin Title
  4. Donate 1000 gold at a time until level 3 or higher GOOD alignment
  5. Sacrifice the Avo mercenary - Skorm's Bow
  6. Sacrifice the Oakvale mercenary - Gift of extended life
  7. Sacrifice the Bowerstone mercenary - Necromancer title
  8. Kill guards to get your EVIL back to where it was originally

Scenario 2: STARTING @ Level 4 or higher GOOD Alignment

  1. Sacrifice the Avo mercenary - Skorm's Bow
  2. Sacrifice the Oakvale mercenary - Gift of extended life
  3. Sacrifice the Bowerstone mercenary - Necromancer title
  4. Kill guards until level 3 or higher EVIL alignment
  5. Donate 35,000 gold - The Sentinus
  6. Donate 5000 gold - the gift of youth
  7. Donate 1000 gold until you are rewarded - Paladin Title
  8. Donate as much gold as you need to, to restore your alignment

Scenario 3: STARTING @ Level 2 GOOD alignment to Level 2 EVIL Alignment

  1. Kill guards until level 3 or higher EVIL alignment
  2. Donate 35,000 gold - The Sentinus
  3. Donate 5000 gold - the gift of youth
  4. Donate 1000 gold until you are rewarded - Paladin Title
  5. Donate 1000 gold at a time until level 3 or higher GOOD alignment
  6. Sacrifice the Avo mercenary - Skorm's Bow
  7. Sacrifice the Oakvale mercenary - Gift of extended life
  8. Sacrifice the Bowerstone mercenary - Necromancer title
  9. Kill guards or donate gold to get your alignment back on track

If you are only good and don't want any evil[edit]

In that case, you can't ever get the Chapel of Skorm rewards. Because of the huge costs, I don't recommend it. The numbers I've given you are numbers I've used ONLY ONCE, unlike the above method where you accomplish both temples at the same time and tested each value over and over until I got the best number to put in this guide.

STARTING @ Level 5 or higher GOOD Alignment

  1. Donate 90,000 gold - The Sentinus
  2. Donate 30,000 gold - gift of youth
  3. Donate 20,000 gold - Paladin title

STARTING @ Level 3 or 4 GOOD Alignment

  1. Donate 60,000 gold - The Sentinus
  2. Donate 20,000 gold - gift of youth
  3. Donate 10,000 gold - Paladin title

STARTING @ Neutral to level 2 GOOD Alignment

  1. Donate 45,000 gold - The Sentinus
  2. Donate 10,000 gold - gift of youth
  3. Donate 5,000 gold - Paladin title

If you are only evil and don't want any good[edit]

You're screwed.... like seriously screwed. Sacrifice like 10 villagers and then try sacrificing the Avo mercenary, then the Oakvale mercenary, then the Bowerstone South mercenary and finally the Twinblade camp mercenary. But you will need to sacrifice a lot of villagers and wives.
