Final Fantasy Tactics/Introduction

When a new game is started the following is displayed on screen.
I am Alazlam, a scholar of ancient Ivalice history...'
Have you ever heard of the "Lion War"
It divided Ivalice in two over who would be the successor to the throne. It ended with the appearance of a young hero named Delita.
Everybody living here knows this hero's tale...
But we also know that what we see with our eyes alone... isn't necessarily the truth.
Here's a young man. (Showing an image of the game main character) He is the youngest son of the noble Beoulve...pillars of knighthood.
There's no record of his playing an active part in history but...
According to the "Duray Report" released last year (concealed for many years by [the] church), this unknown man is the true hero...
The church claims he was a blasphemer and anarchist - the root of all evil...
But is this the "truth"?
Won't you join me on a journey for the "truth"?
Before that, please tell me your 'name' and 'birthday'

[edit] Introduction
The player is then asked to enter his or her name, then birthday (see Zodiac)
A movie plays afterwards, showing the title "A Zodiac Brave Story" then the logo.
We are then moved to Orbonne Monastary
Princess Ovelia is praying and a Female Knight (Agrias) is moving her along. The Priest (Simon tries to help move things along also.
A Black Knight (Gafgarion enters with two squires (Ramza and Rad), all three are mercenaries.
Gafgarion tries to rush the process along rudely, before discussing the "rude knaves" among the Hokuten. Just as Ovelia is about to leave a Female Knight comes in wounded by an enemy outside. Simon asks if it is Prince Goltana's men. The group rushes outside to meet the enemy.
[edit] Battle
The battle basically plays itself out and it is pretty much impossible to lose. Nothing in this battle will impact anything else in this game regardless of what actions you take in the battle. Although it's possible you can die in this battle so don't completely rush into the center of the enemy. You'll see Gafgarion's Night Sword ability as well as Agrias' Statis Sword, the former draws HP from the enemy, the latter could cause Stop. You may also see the enemy Knights Break Armor ability. The enemy Chemist also tends to use use potions which allows him to throw a Potion to someone within a few tiles of him. Ramza comes equipped with a few of his "Guts" moves Dash, Throw Stone, Heal, and Wish that you may want to try out.
[edit] Aftermath
Following the battle, Ovelia is kidnapped and the kidnapper, later identified as Delita escapes on a Chocobo.
Then we're on to Chapter 1.
