Blue Mages are unique in the fact that the majority of their abilities are learned from monsters and not items, so they need to see a lot of battle in order to be any good. Also, you must have Learning set as your S-ability and the monster to attack you with that specific attack in order to learn a monster ability (Beastmasters are useful in this regard). You need to master one White Mage A-ability and one Black Mage A-ability to become a Blue Mage.
