There are many laws in the land of Ivalice which you must follow, and they are arranged into sets. As you progress through the main missions of the game, you will have to follow a certain set of these laws at a time. Breaking these laws causes you to suffer its penalty. If use a recommended ability instead, you receive a Judge Point.

Penalties[edit]

These are the penalties and their effects.

Name Effect!
AP Fine One ability of your offending unit's mastered abilities will have its AP reduced. This will cause the ability to have a need to be relearned by the unit.
Monster Run One random monster from the Monster Bank will run away.
Card Fine The clan will lose a number of cards
Gil Fine The clan will lose Gil
Status Down The unit's stats will be lowered.
Item Fine The clan will lose items
Equipment Fine The unit will lose an equipped item.
Volunteer You will not receive the Gil reward at the end of the mission.

Set 1[edit]

This is the law set for all missions done during the time period of main missions 1-5.

Ganging Up Use of Combo Ability. Only starting unit penalized. Card Fine Copycat Using Same action as previous unit.
Chivalry Use of Ability Type:Chivalry. Status Down Charge Use of Ability Type:Charge.
Charm Causing effect Charm. Volunteer Confuse Cause effect Confuse.

Missile Hitting with a Bow/Greatbow/Gun. Volunteer Swords Hitting with a Sword.
Rapiers Hitting with a Rapier. Volunteer Greatswords Hitting with a Greatsword.
