New players might feel the difficulty ramping up with Scouring Time. Before, you can pretty much just keep pressing buttons to move the battles and plot forward. At this point, though, first-time players will get stuck and have to try Scouring Time over and over again. Unless, of course, if you're reading this here at Strategy Wiki.

Preparation[edit]

Save your game on the overworld map, then move onto Muscadet. As soon as you do, a battle will grab you and take you in. There's some story about a Judge ethnically profiling a Moogle. Marche, the real-world blond boy-Hume wonder, decides to fight the Man. Two battles strung together happen next, and are both hard.

Strategy[edit]

When Montblanc is up, have him use his Totmea. This will knock 80-100 HP off each enemy, softening them up considerably. It is possible to win this battle without doing this, but a lot harder.

There are two Bangaa wearing red on a platform in the center left of the battlefield. Do not approach them for a physical attack. They have a counterattack that can kill members of your party in a single hit. Don't even get two squares away from them. They have a lance attack that can reach you. Instead, have Montblanc hit them with firaga from below. After the totema attack, hopefully they're still standing next to one another. If they are, a single firaga attack can knock them both out. With them taken care of, move on to the other opponents.

There's a Moogle on the upper left with a firearm. He's also smart — frequently before he moves, the DS light pauses for several seconds as his cute furry little brain computes strategy. All this sounds scary, but he's the most harmless of the bunch. Take out all his friends before running all the way up there and getting him.

After the twin red Bangaa, go after the Nu Mou wizard on the upper right. Getting to him, two matching white and green Moogles will jump you repeatedly with Mog Rush. This is annoying when it hits, but has a low probability of success, so just pass them by.

With this battle complete, you automatically go to part 2.

Extra: Law Cards[edit]

Do not forget you can use law cards. If you have a ranked law card that nullifies a ranked law card, save it for later or if you have 2, use it now. Then add law cards that applies to the enemies. Best not to use 'time magic' or 'fire' if you only have one for both. You would need it later. This is a small advantage you can use to your enemies.
