Golden Axe II scoring.png

Once you've finished the game and the credits you get to see your score. The higher the letter grade the better you played. The score values shown beside the letters indicate how close you were to the next grade.

Losing lives and/or credits will decrease your strength rating, while killing enemies will increase it. The trick is to kill enemies with style. Knocking them over an edge to their death or finishing them with magic increases your score more than using a physical attack, and it doesn't matter what the strength of the magic was.

It is also possible to use magic just before an enemy's corpse disappears, thus killing that enemy twice and sending the body even higher in the air. This magic exploit can be repeated indefinitely to rack up kills from the same few enemies.
