Golden Axe II plays much like the original Golden Axe, but there are some differences. Most significant is the improved controls. You can move more smoothly and execute moves more easily than in the original game. Enemies are also a lot smarter, dodging your attacks and trying to surround you rather than simply heading straight for you.
Magic attacks can also be charged, which allows you to use weak magic in tricky situations while saving most of the magic for the bosses.
